hahaa! i enjoyed that way more than i should.

you know, i can't help but think what the band must think of articles that call them corporate machines built to sell sell sell. i too think it must be a lot simpler and reading some articles, you'd think that coldplay conspire and plot their musical career. they are not an artificially built up act like one direction, rihanna or, to a lesser extent, katy perry. it is pretty sad that some critics seem to imply coldplay are simply a hollow, money maker, as opposed to an artist, following what they choose. and this is not a post viva criticism, this has been there through out.

Fan Participant Super Bowl 50 We're looking for enthusiastic fans of Coldplay, who would like to be on the field for the Pepsi Super Bowl 50 Halftime Show! Fan Participants who are selected will be on the field during the show, which will feature a performance by Coldplay. If you are interested in being considered as a Fan Participant for the show, please read the following notice and instructions to submit your group information. Groups All Fan Participants are required to be part of a group. Groups must have at least 10 members including one group leader. A group can be an organized team, club, squad, community group, or even a group of friends who want to be a part of this experience together. Each group must have, or assign, a leader who is at least 21 years of age. All group members must be at least 18 years of age. Group Leaders Group leaders must be at least 21 years old. The group leader will be our point of contact for all show information. We will expect the group leader to be responsible for all communication and organization for the group, including: Communicating rehearsal schedules & arrival instructions Organizing carpools/transportation Making sure group members know and follow all stadium rules and rules governing conduct on the field Rehearsals We anticipate that there will be three rehearsals prior to the show on Game Day. By submitting your group for consideration to be Fan Participants, all group members understand and agree that they will attend all scheduled rehearsals. Absence of any group member from any of the rehearsals may result in removal of your entire group from the show. Please make sure all group members are available for all listed rehearsals before submitting any information. Approximate and 'TBD' elements will be announced after Fan Participants have been selected. Schedule is subject to change. Be of sound physical health and capable of vigorous physical activity without assistance, including walking long distances and the ability to run onto & off of the field as directed without stopping (really, we mean run). There will be no exceptions made to this rule. The ability to run quickly is an essential function of your participation and a requirement for safety. If you are not able to run, it poses a serious safety risk to both you and to other Fan Participants. Report at the scheduled check-in time and place for rehearsals and for the show on Game Day. Sign and adhere to a very strict confidentiality agreement. Rules No drinking alcohol No use of drugs No foul language No pushing or fighting No smoking No weapons of any kind Do not miss any rehearsals or check-ins Do not be late for any rehearsals or check-ins Conduct yourself at all times in a responsible, courteous, and reasonable manner, and obey all reasonable verbal instructions of field leaders. Important to know This is not a paid engagement or an offer of employment No tickets to the game are available. Fan Participants will not have seats at the stadium to watch the game. Each group will be expected to provide their own transportation. Car-pooling will be very important for all rehearsals & on Game Day, as parking is extremely limited. On game day, Fan Participants will report to an off-site location and be transported to the stadium. That location will be revealed at rehearsal. Submitting your group information does not guarantee participation. We will notify those who are selected to participate via email to the Group Leader. If selected to participate, groups will be required to provide us with copies of government-issued identification, showing proof of age of each group member. not sure correcting data by age is wise, but i'd like to see the correlations, effects with age, gender,etc. would love to actually conduct a proper data analysis with more data points and directed (hypothesis based) questions.

this is a very interesting poll conducted by reddit coldplay. i find the last two graphs the most interesting, since we have an idea of how the albums are generally ranked among the fans. here are the results, taken from here: ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- There were about 300+ responses, so thank you everyone for participating, it was very nice. Most responses were from people who started with the Viva era, followed by MX! Not surprising. Unsurprisingly, general consensus is that ARoBttH and Viva are the best albums. Similar to previous data, although it's very interesting to note that listeners who began with the Parachutes era dislike Mylo Xyloto, but collectively enjoy Ghost Stories. Many have recognized similarities between Coldplay's first and sixth albums. The data here is normalized out of 1. Not much different from the previous graph since all the data was close to the 8-10 range, but it's cool to notice that most people rated their first album the highest ... with the exception of Ghost Stories. lovely story of chris' generosity: Coldplay in show of support for Shaldon zookeeper's memorial event By Herald Express | Posted: January 10, 2016 Coldplay's Chris Martin Coldplay frontman Chris Martin has pledged his support for a memorial event for Shaldon zookeeper Lily Partridge who died after suffering a head injury playing rugby. Chris, who comes from Exeter, and his bandmates have donated signed goods for an auction being held next weekend at Lily’s rugby club. He has given a signed guitar, drumsticks, albums and CDs for the cause to raise money for charities supported by Lily, a former pupil at Torquay Girls' Grammar School. Chris used to play cricket with Lily’s uncle Ron and the singer rang Ron in his hospital bed shortly before he died. Lily’s family said: "We cannot thank Chris and Coldplay enough. It was a very kind gesture when Chris rang Ron out of the blue when he was very ill - and now they have done this for Lily.” Meanwhile, the rugby world has united to support the Lily Partridge memorial match next weekend. Premiership teams and well known figures in the game have come together to back the game to celebrate the life of 22-year-old Lily who was fatally injured in a tackle during a training session last month. Lily donated her organs and four people have already had their lives saved thanks to the bubbly, fun-loving young woman from Exeter – and more people’s lives will be saved thanks to her decision to carry a donor card and tell her family her wish to help others if she died. TV and radio presenter Judi Spiers is giving her time to the cause as she will be the auctioneer to raise funds for Lily’s chosen charities after the game which is being played at the Exonian Ladies' home base at Topsham RFC on Saturday, January 16. Lily was a founder member of the club and front row player for the Exonians side for 18 months. This will be their first competitive match since Lily died.
