Well sure, songs like Politik and The Scientist have more intense emotions packed into then than half of MX. MX has different emotions. Charlie Brown is 100% concentrated happiness. :nice: I didn't mean you when I said that some people despise it. :) I've seen comments from people completely dismissing it. I take offence when someone says that they turned their backs on their fans. Or that MX was a thought through project to gain money and celebrity and not something they enjoyed making and performing...

I guess they could have called a lot of singers before Rihanna, but their choice is kinda limited in regards to Chris' voice. He has a soft voice, even his friend Beyonce would have made him his bitch. :D I don't know... The "problem" isn't Rihanna, nor the song. She's right for the song, the song's right for the album. It's just that the album is what it is. Essentially anti-Coldplay. In all ways different from Parachutes. I get it why some people don't like. Even despise it. I myself like it... Considering their history, they'll certainly change again for LP6.

I forgot about The Goldrush. I'm not counting variations. I'm all for new/unreleased Coldplay songs (gimme!), but I don't like speculating about them...

I'm not saying that they're not catchy enough, they shouldn't be, but meditative ballads also need a distinctive melody. I'm listening to this while writing, it kinda explains what I'm trying to say: Anyway, not as successful as the previous two albums Grammys-wise, but it gave them the most successful tour of all time. :sneaky: P.S. I've listened to No Line On The Horizon today only for the second time in it's entirety. I don't know... I do love some songs but I get bored when I listen only to them and no songs from other albums. I get a feeling that Bono talks too much and doesn't really sing. Like, he used to sing his heart out in the 80s... The album could have used some more enoxification, it would have made it more interesting. I'm a believer in the basic song structure. I like melodic music, you know. The melody is the heart of the song. I don't like to call them hooks because they bring up a negative connotation and refer to catchy pop songs. Rather than that, melodies are immortal regardless of genre. Beethoven's 5th symphony has the same "hook" echoing through. A lot of songs on No Line On The Horizon just don't have a decent melody that gets you interested in the song so you can rember it and hum it leter.

I'm glad you guys like the Celtic Joshua Tree idea. :D That would be awesome... I'm surprised they haven't done it yet. Before the Joshua Tree. October (Tomorrow) was the only thing that came close. Eno is a genius. A visionary. Probably the main reason why U2's albums aged so well. They invented that style and not much has happened since then. (Except for grunge in the 90s.) But RazorEye, you like CP+Eno but not U2+Eno? :P

:\ Yeah, I heard them say that about X&Y. Like, they made the album everybody expected them to make. Not necessarily what they wanted. I like all of their albums, and I listen to them depending on the mood I'm in...
