Give me back...
The old coldplaying broke. The last pages of threads wouldn't load and posts wouldn't show up, so the admin had to do something. I agree it's quite different, but maybe we could fix some new themes in the future! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Elbow
Anyone listened to the new album yet? Elbow albums always need some time to grow on me but I already love Magnificent, All Disco and K2

Coldplaying's history
I think it's this one, it's not the first mention of cake but here people started commenting on it https://coldplaying.com/forum/index.php?threads/loldplay-i-can-haz-cake.61937/page-9#post-3466510 Reilly was an active poster from 2003 until 2013 but he had a reputation of being, well a bit of an asshole but in a specific Reilly-way. So there were often arguments and by 2013 he had 5 official warnings which means you're banned. It was all a bit double because while he was really annoying at times, he also contributed to the site a lot, so a lot of people didn't agree with the decision to ban him.

Coldplaying's history
Okay here we go - I joined in 2012 but only started posting in 2013 so it's quite a small time frame. When I first joined I wasn't really interested in the community, I just wanted to download stuff in the multimedia section. The forum was HUGE and I felt 1) not confident enough about my English 2) like I would get lost immediately. I started lurking though and I remember the Paralympics closing ceremony, which broke the site's "Most users ever online" record like 5 times. The eventual record was 6,255 (thank you Wayback Machine). A couple of months later I did start posting; I didn't get lost and made some very good friends. To be honest I wasn't very active in the Coldplay section, I mostly hung around in The Lounge and basically lived in the Pub Thread :drunk: I think the Scrapbook was also still alive at that time: Someone bought a scrapbook, decorated one page in it and sent it off to another member who did the same and so on. A lovely idea which we could revive maybe? From the Coldplay section I remember the LP6 thread of course, that time Chris mentioned the title to his son on a plane and everyone was like "Ghost Stories? haha, what a ridiculous story I'm not buying that" and we moved on :| Also that day about 2 years ago where we had an... interesting conversation with the eFestivals forum. Basically they all believed Coldplay were gonna headline Glastonbury in 2015 because they had a ~reliable source~, however we had a slightly more reliable source or I don't know, but we were trying to convince each other we were right, while posting on our respective forums (and guess who was right in the end, ha!) I think that's all the Coldplay related stuff I remember for now. Back to the activity on the site. Later in 2013 all the old "Loungers" left after a messy, messy day where Reilly was banned and everyone freaked out and yeah let's not talk about that too much lol. A couple of months later Ian, the original owner left too and the board was completely gone/closed for like a month, no one knew if/when it would return. When it was back online Ian announced he was selling everything for a shitload of money (logical, it's a massive site + social media accounts with a lot of followers). I think 97% of the active posters didn't believe someone would buy it so there was a big Goodbye thread and we were all exchanging twitter accounts to keep in touch. But then, like 30 minutes (?) before the auction thing closed, there was a bid. It was Marc; he took over, reorganised the team (almost all of the old moderators had left too) and was very ambitious but then - er well I don't remember the details and they don't matter either but well Stephen took over. Around the same time I think the forum software had had enough of it and basically broke :| I still don't know how it's possible but the last pages of threads wouldn't show up and posts didn't appear and well, RIP vBulletin. Fortunately Stephen is an IT genius and was able to move everything to a new software so COLDPLAYING LIVES! And here we are now. Some other things I know of, but I wasn't here when they happened: -the Christmas Lights video: The band (meaning Debs, probably) contacted Ian about a special Q&A with some roadies and Phil - on a boat on the Thames. A certain number of people was invited so there was a competition and a lot of #hype ....but in the end it turned out to be a big lie, there was no Q&A. It was a video shoot and basically the Coldplaying people stood in the cold for a fairly long period of time and released balloons. As far as I know they were okay with that though haha. Then afterwards they weren't allowed to spoil anything until the video was out, that must've been quite hard. -the award the site received in 2011: Coldplaying won the BT Digital Music Award for best fansite. 2 moderators picked up the award at the ceremony. Unfortunately the BT Digital Music awards ceased to exist in 2011 so we never got the change to win again :( -how an innocent joke in a thread made a big part of the Coldplay fandom believe Jonny loves cake: In the early days of the LOLdplay thread, someone joked about Jonny loving cake. the joke kept being made until "Jonny loves cake" was so widespread no one remembered it was a joke. I too had to discover it was all a fable. Or maybe not, because who doesn't love cake? -this gem

#Resist
That must be so hard :\ The one time one of my facebook friends shared something vomited into the world by a racist party, I immediately defriended her, but I barely knew her in the first place so anyway. There's a Trump fan among my facebook friends atm and the weird thing is that it's someone I know from here, a Coldplay fan... It baffles me how someone can be a Trump fan and a Coldplay fan at the same time tbh.

#Resist
Meanwhile in Belgium: our State Secretary for asylum and migration shared an article on twitter that calls everyone who's radically against the ban hysterical and says that some parts of the plan (refusing refugees from those 7 countries) are "reasonable and prudent". Great :)))))) everything's going great :)))))))

Coldplay in Israel
We're talking about Coldplay, the band that's been donating 10% of their incomes to charity for years, they don't need this forum to realise 'hey, maybe we could donate this to charity'. Again, they're decent people with brains. That's not really what I meant, I just think a big majority of Israeli Coldplay fans aren't dickheads who support the Isreali government but they can't do much about it. (I'm by no means an expert) But again I do see the problem with a production of this size playing in Israel. It's just not so black-and-white in my opinion.

Coldplay in Israel
How do we know they're not donating the 5 million to charity though? I feel like it's a bit too early to judge. I see some of your points re the hypocrisy but to be honest I struggle to see why performing in Israel is by definition always wrong. I don't support the government of my country, many Americans don't support their government, lots of Israelis don't either. And I'm pretty sure a large majority of Coldplay's fanbase in Israel belongs to that category. I really hope I'm not being too optimistic. The only thing I struggle with (and ok it's not a minor thing) is that a concert there would support Israel's economy & that Israel can use it to show the world how great they are. That's wrong, very wrong. Coldplay is a huge band and the #hype this concert would create would potentially spread a wrong image. But still, a lot depends on what they do with the money. For now, I still trust the band and I don't think they'd take the 5 million home and do nothing with it. We know they're decent people with brains, don't we? Imagine the slap in N*tanyahu's face if they openly donate everything to the organisation you mentioned. For now I can't see them doing this just for the money. That's unlike them.

It's weird though, Chris and Phil were in Israel so what were they doing? Maybe they're doing just the song?

Coldplay in Israel
Thoughts? Some people seem to be afraid this isn't going to work out very well... It's certainly a risky move but obviously safety will be very high (as always in Israel) and if it works out they're spreading a great message I think. Also I don't know that newspaper so no idea how much of a rumour/fact it is.
