[2017-6-14] Red Bull Arena, Leipzig, Germany
Soundcheck is hard to hear today. Sounded like Lovers In Japan to me first. Then definitely followed by Yes. They need to make a concert out of the the soundchecked songs! Edit: Now Us Against The World.

Whoa, what a mess. So was it 'no bags at all allowed' in the end? Sounded like it from some of the Twitter statements... Hope everybody had a great time despite that! :)

Show us your Coldplay related art
I finished these shoes today, just in time for the tour! The design idea is not from me. I saw it in a Twitter post some time ago and loved it so much that I thought I should try it myself (original design from this girl: https://www.instagram.com/broodingbot). I'm not really that talented when it comes to drawing and painting, so I'm really surprised and happy with how they turned out.

[2017-6-4] Coldplay to perform at One Love Manchester Benefit Concert
This whole show. What a beautiful thing to happen. No matter what your opinion on the music - I thought all performers did a wonderful job. Ariana is a very strong woman. Liam next to the "geography teacher" and his "beyond shit" looking bandmate in front of their "boring and ugly" fans. I guess love can truly conquer hate. (Gotta love Liam even for his insults.)

[2017-7-6] Coldplay To Perform At The Global Citizen Festival in Hamburg, Germany
The drawing for the second competition phase is tomorrow. Anybody else still hoping to win? Crossing my fingers for all of you! I can't bear to not see them when they're in my city, lol. I already feel mocked by all the posters that have been up in Hamburg for weeks now.

Getting back from the arena via public transport won't be a problem. They'll plan accordingly. There's a shuttle bus from the arena bringing you to the nearest rapid transit station and from there you can go back to the city centre. It's always quite well organized. If it ends quite late, they'll have a plan for that with some extra trains maybe.

[2017-7-6] Coldplay To Perform At The Global Citizen Festival in Hamburg, Germany
I'm wondering about the amount of tickets they are giving away as well... In the terms and conditions they are talking about three phases and one draw for each phase (the first one being tomorrow as stated). In the first phase it says they're giving away 1,750 pairs of tickets, in the second 500 pairs and in the third 500 as well. In total that only makes 5,500 tickets. I assume they also have free tickets allocated to other prize draws of partners and media (e.g. radio stations), but it's still quite far away from the 9,000 free tickets talked about. I counted that there are roughly 2,500 VIP tickets on sale. In addition to that the box seats in the arena maybe amount to 1,400 that they're probably giving to friends & family, partners, sponsors, etc. Still leaves some space in the arena with a capacity of 16,000 max. Well, anyway: Best of luck to everybody who tried for tickets in tomorrow's draw! :)

My weekly grocery shopping at the supermarket yesterday amounted to €42.42. I had to giggle and confused the cashier. :D

Everglow Music Video
Oh wow, it found the light of day! :D Didn't think we would get to see it after all. LOL, the lights could have just been added by CGI as well. Would have saved us some frustrating shivering. ;) It's really nice, but I'm not sure the idea of her dancing with an invisible partner really comes across. You can only really guess when she gets lifted in the air or in a few other parts of the routine. Maybe that's why they scrapped it.

Kaleidoscope EP
I'm really looking forward to the EP. Not just simply because of new music, but also because I need some more positivity in times like these - times that scare me like never before. The band is one of my anchors of positivity and I turn to them when the world makes me sad. I'm interested to see whether Kaleidoscope (the song) is continued in any way - musically or in its theme. It was interesting to read the Obama comments here. While I agree with the criticism on some of his political actions when it comes to war, I also predominantly see the inclusion of Amazing Grace in its context of the Charleston shooting. The supposedly "most powerful man in the world" singing in this church to the families of the victims, the community in a voice somewhere between fragile and reassuring, about grace and hopefulness of all things - not hate, even though that is what such a vile attack is making people feel so often. It goes along with the message of the families when they publicly forgave the attacker. What a strong thing to do! I only learned back then that this maybe most known gospel was written by a white captain of a slavery ship who was saved from distress at sea along with his crew by a power he attributed to the grace of God. He later became a supporter of abolitionism. Maybe it makes this even more poignant in the context of the sad events. It made me cry when I heard Kaleidoscope for the first time. Yeah, I'm sappy like that.

Damn, I wanted to see what they made out of the ice-skaters! Despite gruelling cold and boredom it looked potentially nice. Did they scrap it just because we fell asleep on the side ranks? :D

Random Coldplay thoughts...
The story about your parents made me smile! :) My parents had no choice but to be somehow involved in my life as a fan and incidentally learn a lot about the band. They had to drive me to concerts hundreds of miles away when I was just 16, had to wait in front of the concert venue in the pouring rain, had to call my school and tell them I'm sick when I was actually at a concert, had to listen to my long rants about the guys, had to sit down with me on four different computers and hit refresh to get tickets, had to participate in endless contests for me to win something... Those poor guys. :laugh4: I love that (despite a lot of teasing) they've always understood my love for this band and that it was important to me as a part of my life. I'm very grateful for their support. By now they've seen them live a couple of times as well (and don't have to wait outside in the pouring rain anymore, lol). For the AHFOD tour my dad even bought tickets all by himself to surprise my mum. He would never say it out loud, but he thinks Coldplay are not too bad. :D

Kings of Leon
Reviving this thread from the dead. So how do you like WALLS? It's getting a lot of lukewarm reviews (my favourite was one describing it as the perfect romantic album to listen to under a blanket with hot chocolate), but I have to say that I like it after the first few plays. Strangely enough I like the quieter songs, Muchacho, Conversation Piece (I'm a sucker for the tiny moment when Caleb's voice breaks into falsetto at the end of the chorus), and WALLS. I find it funny that many reviews of their last albums mention Coldplay and U2 - and not in the good way (stadium rock, nothing special anymore, changed for the worst...). I love both, so I must still like KOL. :laugh4: The album was produced by Markus Dravs, who also worked on Viva La Vida and MX. Well yeah, Youth & Young Manhood was an exceptional debut with a great unpolished devil-may-care attitude, but I've always liked their development as a band, even if it meant more mainstream (and less hair). But the early 2000s also were a different time with the revival of garage rock with bands like The Strokes, The White Stripes, The Hives, The Libertines, The Vines, etc... The times they are a-changin. Will probably get a ticket to see them next year. Saw them in 2004 and 2010, so it's time again...

What Made You Sad Today?
Listening to Kings of Leon's 'WALLS' (the song). I don't know why.

My mum made me aware that Chris held a little laudation at last weeks Echo Klassik awards (a German award for classical music) when Khatia Buniatishvili won an award for best solo piano recording. So nice of him! He was dressed as Beethoven. :D Not sure if it was mentioned somewhere already.

Ah, haven't listened to that one in a long time! I've recently wondered whatever happened to The Streets, but I think they shelved that project. Been thinking of them lately due to Kate Tempest receiving a lot of attention for her new album (which I'd totally recommend). I kinda dig rap in English accents. :D

Random Coldplay thoughts...
I listened to AHFOD in its entirety this morning (haven't done that in a while) and found that some songs make me feel all "summery" because they were played on this year's tour, and some songs make me feel all "christmassy" (like Fun and Army Of One) because the album was released during Christmas time last year. Such a weird but lovely mixture. I love that all their albums in their own way are such a colorful and varying expression and preservation of the times of my life and the feelings that went along with these times.
