LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
Do we already know that the whole album will be Indian themed? If so, I hope it won't be of a too watered-down westernised kind like the supposed "Chinese" influence in PoC.

Jon Hopkins!
For every Jon Hopkins lover out there, here's one of the most haunting songs I've heard in a while: his own ambient remix of his track Immunity. [video=youtube;9XUnzZuhdnw]

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
That was a joke because Rik has said jokingly that we will have the album before next August.

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
Sacrilege!! :o:laugh3: No, but seriously, I wouldn't advise anyone to expect too much. It's better to keep expectations low and being surprised than expecting a masterpiece and being disappointed.

People change, personal taste changes, musicians change. That's the way of life. If the difference has become too big, there is no point in keeping the "love" to the artist artificially alive. I had to discover that myself when I noticed that a particular artist I used to love several years ago just produced crap nowadays. It can feel bad to end a musical chapter but this is how progress works. Stopping following a band allows you to spend more time discovering other music that you may have never heard before. And who knows, maybe you will find a band that will be as important to you as Coldplay. The good thing is: no one can take their old releases away from you. You will always be able to listen to them.

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
Remember: it's supposedly only the pace that is the same as Violet Hill. That doesn't say anything about the style. It could be a Reggaeton collaboration with Nicki Minaj and Pitbull having the same pace as VH.

Well first of all thanks for the Fillmore video. Gosh they were young back then... :laugh3: Moreover I find it interesting that Oldplayers seem to have a similar choice in post-LP4 songs that they like. My personal choice would be for the MX era: Paradise (the guilty pleasure), Major Minus (only really good song on the album imho), and MtM. For GS: AIMH (not really liking but it's one of the better ones), Midnight, O, AYF, and GS. I find it extremely sad to watch talented bands like Coldplay sell out. That's one of the things I hate about the music industry. It's all about money and appealing to the masses instead of writing creative, innovative music. If LP7 will be another schmaltzy feel-good album, I hope we will at least get another one of these b-side gems (tbh this is the only reason I'm still here ).

Truth has been spoken! I actually had to laugh out loud reading this description: It's so true. :laugh3:

This! I think it's Chris' popularity and his new-found love of EDM that is the reason for Coldplay's downfall. Although he seems to be a really nice guy he may be too naive and perhaps it's the influence of famous friends that makes him move the band in the direction of mainstream pop. This being said, I'm greatful to see that there are other people who love the old era the same as me. This thread includes some amazing live performances of the "good old days". Although the video quality is bad here's one of the rare live performances of Yes. The best part is the crazy coda starting shortly after 3:54. [video=youtube;yHFT9azqwSc] God how I'd love them to go back to that style...

Well this is a forum dedicated to sharing opinions on Coldplay's music, so I don't see what the problem is. Just because some people don't like the newest song doesn't mean their criticism is "crap" or "hate".

I'm not against evolution. It depends in which direction their sound evolves. For example I would love them to advance their sound in collaboration with Brian Eno and Jon Hopkins maybe towards a sound closer to Radiohead. However I'm totally against collaboration with people like Avicii and Rihanna. It is not selfish at all to want their music to sound the way you like it. Because that decides whether you buy their music or not and in the end that's how they make their money.

Believe it or not, some people love the sound of a pronounced lead guitar. So it's just logical that these people would want more Jonny in a new song. It comes down to taste - the same reason some people prefer Led Zeppelin over Maroon 5. I think the song is uninspired and sounds like any song I hear on the radio that I forget about the minute after. That's a good one! :laugh3: I mean away from experimental Alternative Rock towards simplistic radio-friendly danceable tunes. (Please don't take it personally that we have different taste. I don't want to stop you enjoying Amazing Day. It's just my opinion.)

Of course Coldplay sound like Coldplay, because what they sound like is defined by their musical output. There is still a major stylistic change between the pre-MX and post-MX Coldplay. Some people like their older style better, others prefer the newer one. It is not literally "hate" that I have for Amazing Day, I just find it bland. People have different taste and that's a good thing :) Btw, just because it's a Coldplay song doesn't automatically make it good. Even the Beatles have at some point written terrible songs.

Amazing Day
People are not complaining that we got a new song. We criticize the musical direction in which one of our favourite bands is heading.

Amazing Day
That's true, a good song does not need a guitar riff or solo. I was responding to a comment which said that the lack of distinctive lead guitar work in GS was overcome in this song.

Amazing Day
Yeah, she's so talented that she can't even write her own songs. I guarantee you, you can go to any music conservatory near you and find more talent there than Ariana Grande, Nicki Minaj, Iggy Azalea etc. have combined. That doesn't mean that anyone shouldn't like their music. You can listen to whatever you want, taste is subjective. But if somebody decides that they won't listen to Ariana Grande because they dislike generic pop music, that is a completely respectable opinion.

I think it's not unrealistic to expect something more sophisticated from Coldplay. If you look at AROBTTH and VLVODAAHF I'd say that there are many songs on these albums that are Art-Rock and are challenging (in Pop-Rock terms) on an artistic level, e.g. 42 or Death and All His Friends. In my opinion there is by far not enough Jonny for my taste on Amazing Day. He's just supporting the melody line in the background. No recognisable guitar riffs or even a solo. As for the god-praising lyrics, I don't have a problem with that. I can very well enjoy music that does not conform with my worldview.

Amazing Day
Sorry to say this but it's really disappointing to see them just make a bad remake of AIMH. I really hope this is not an indicator for what awaits us on the rest of the album. The worst part for me is the electronic drumbeat. It's so cheesy it makes me cringe.

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
The things she promised to keep secret are probably informations referring to the album release. So when she says that she can maybe reveal one of the secrets next week it means that it is likely that we will get something new next week, maybe the long awaited single.

If you mean the stuff on top of Guy's chest pocket it looks like Japanese characters to me. But the resolution is too low to clearly make it out.

This is a very good point! I could totally see that happen!

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
Hmm I dreamed last night that AHFOD was released in a few months and that it featured a collaboration with Kendrick Lamar. The cover art was a kind of weird colourful drawing of two birds. It was only a dream but I would be happy if it became true...

What is the most underrated Coldplay song and album? What about overrated?
Underrated song Definitely Prospekt's March/Poppyfields. It's one of my all-time favourite songs but it seems to get less attention than it deserves. Other candidates for underrated songs would be A Rush of Blood to the Head, Cemeteries of London, Yes, Death And All His Friends, and All Your Friends. Overrated song I'd pick Viva La Vida. Don't get me wrong, I think it's quite a good song but for all the extreme praise that it got (Grammy for Song of the Year) I think it is overrated. It's my least favourite song on the album. (Maybe that's because I've heard it 188462801837 times on the radio.) Underrated Album I choose Prospekt's March. I know it's not a "real" album but rather an EP, but I like it so much that I had to choose it. It was a small release without any media attention but it's my second-favourite Coldplay album (after VLV). It shows again how good their B-sides are. Except for Lost+ with Jay-Z, I'd rate every song on this record with 5*. Overrated Album Mylo Xyloto. Although many Coldplayers reacted rather reserved to this album, it sold quite well and was at least economically a real success. It's my least favourite Coldplay album because of the electronic candy-pop sound. There are some good songs on the album but in my opinion they would have been better if they hadn't been overproduced.

http://www.melty.it/rihanna-e-coldplay-collaborazione-sul-nuovo-album-a-head-full-of-dreams-a144149.html So what about this? I'm not good at Italian but from what I've understood chances are high that on the next album there will be another collaboration with Rihanna :( (WHY????) Could someone who understands Italian confirm this?
