Coldreplay A Denver Tribute to Coldplay
Oh... I actually follow you folks on Facebook because I live in the area, haha. Sadly I won't be able to make it to your debut show tomorrow but I can't wait to see you guys in the future!

So we now have a countdown... only issue is that the world premiere of the single is going to be right when one of my university classes starts (12:30 pm local time). So I'm gonna have to wait in agony until class is over to listen. Some of the titles, like Daddy and Cry Cry Cry do come off as uninspired. But at least there's Èko... that one is quite unique. Judging from titles alone, that's the song I'm most curious about. I really want to see Gary Lightbody on a Coldplay album. But if it has to be someone younger and more relevant to modern pop, maybe it should be someone like Alessia Cara. After all, she supported the AHFOD tour. Assuming there are indeed 16 songs on the album... I don't think it's likely that they'd make 16 different music videos. They usually only make maybe 5 of them per era. Even if they double that amount because it's a double album, it'd still be real time consuming for them... who knows, though?

Our troublesome fake leaker who said The Race would be on the album ended up right about one thing: we're getting an unreleased song from a prior era. It's not Car Kids (unless that has been renamed...!) but it'll have to do lol

Èko = a reworking of Aiko? Probably not, but I can dream. Hopefully that teaser clip came from Sunrise. I'd quite like an album opener that's more mellow, kind of like Always In My Head.

Someone was early to the party, LOL And indeed, Arabesque was seen next to Aiko and a song called Sex & Violence on the TV show 60 minutes back in the MX days. Courtesy of Reddit:

Champion of the World? *prays for Will to sing lead vocals* These are some... odd song titles, even for the band that named a song Chinese Sleep Chant. Lots of really short, one word titles, too. Church, Trouble In Town, Orphans, and Guns all seem like something off of Viva.

Everyday Life Tour Setlist speculation
Doesn't look like it, and Guy has been in Amsterdam according to his Instagram so I'm not really surprised that the band didn't perform.

I thought about that when I saw "wedding band" on the poster... it's still unlikely to show up, though. It appears the song was reworked. Yeah I'm still stumped in that regard. Maybe the songs aren't being reworked and they just wanted to continue the black-and-white trend from the posters or allude to the darkness of a solar eclipse, perhaps the barren white and gray of the moon? Or there's a story told when you listen to each song sequentially, like someone said in this thread a number of pages back. And that forms the basis for a narrative that will be expanded upon by LP8? Or we're overthinking all of this. :joy:

Everyday Life Tour Setlist speculation
The main set will be divided in two, with one half being centered around "Sunrise" and the other around "Sunset." The Sunrise set will include more positive, uplifting material like AHFOD and Mylo along with the new songs, while Sunset will include stuff like Ghost Stories, AROBTTH, and Viva that is a little darker in tone (along with new songs, of course). Then they'll do the standard encore fare with something acoustic, a well-known song or two that was left out of the main set, and a new song to close the show. Well, at least this is what I'm hoping for. With rarities sprinkled throughout. But I'm not expecting many rare songs to actually show up in the setlist, certainly not on a regular basis. I might be wrong, though...

It's indeed nuts. I'd say the only influence that has really remained constant throughout much of the band's career has been U2 since around the time of AROBTTH, given Coldplay's ability to create stadium rock anthems with such powerful melodies. It makes me wish that, at the very least, they'd let Brian Eno produce an album again.

I wouldn't mind seeing Life Is Beautiful again. It's gorgeous, very much Amazing Day Part 2 yet also a song that sums up this band's worldview to a T. However, I'm skeptical that Life Is Beautiful will actually appear on LP8 just because they don't tend to reuse these unreleased songs like Don Quixote, The Dubliners, Wedding Bells, Solid Ground, etc. They might borrow elements from those songs, kinda like how elements of Wedding Bells found their way into Christmas Lights and possibly UFO. But they never appear again, which can be quite a shame because they tend to be quite beautiful. I recall Coldplaying admins having some behind the scenes access in the past. So if you folks say it's genuine, I'm quite inclined to believe it. And besides, Debs Wild of all people is known to have an account on here. ;)

Holy crap, I wake up to find the album title is revealed... Everyday Life. I actually quite like that. Fits with the trend of a long album title, then a short one, then a long one, and so on. And we're literally getting a double album?!? This is something I've been hoping for but never expected to happen. Can't wait!

Clearly seems to be the case, and the people who are a part of it can be the most random of folks... like, the first person to say that LP6 would be called Ghost Stories was a random passenger who happened to be on the same flight as Chris.

I can't imagine us getting a whole album as daring as Viva ever again, apart from a song here and there like Midnight. But what I love about Coldplay is that they can make a soaring anthem out of everything from baroque music to electronic-infused dance rock, space rock, and a piano ballad. Though I consider myself an Oldplayer, I've come to accept that there's something very distinctly "Coldplay" that is always there whether they are pushing their sonic limits or not. This article is spot on about what I'm expecting. Doesn't mean I'm not hyped, because I am. I'm just not expecting a full album of classical music or jazz.

Random Coldplay thoughts...
Just had Til Kingdom Come pop up on Spotify right after I found out that an old friend had died of a heroin overdose. Powerful moment right there... seems like Coldplay always pops up to console me when stuff like this happens in my life.

I really like this... is that version of Spies the demo version with different instrumentation in the first verse? Or is it just the Parachutes version?

I'm so tired but I'm gonna try and make myself stay up for a couple more hours. Gotta see if we get another teaser clip 24 hours after the first (it was 1 am here) They even stopped playing See You Soon, and it was as gorgeous in 2016 as it was in 2003. Odd... I also wonder why they didn't play more songs from the Kaleidoscope EP. They played Something Just Like This quite often but barely ever touched the other songs.

I see Chris and Will's voices as kind of like Liam and Noel in Oasis. Both are pretty good in their own way, they just each have their own unique style. I think Noel can sing any Oasis song and sound fine. But some songs are better for him, and some are better for Liam. The difference with Coldplay is that Chris is so much more recognizable, so he's typically the one who takes center stage. I do want Will to get his own song on an album, though. Ideally something really stripped-down and acoustic, he excels with those kinds of songs. It looks like "OG" refers to something called "Open Graph Protocol." Maybe any folks here who are well-versed in web design could tell you more. https://ogp.me/

It did annoy me when they got rid of Politik after a few shows in 2016. I loved what they did with the visuals, and I actually prefer the Midnight outro after Politik instead of Clocks (which is what they eventually went with) I'd die of happiness if I thought they were gonna open with the first song on the new album, then suddenly Chris does that funny little scream from the beginning of Live 2003, and Politik starts. What I don’t understand is why they brought in some cool old songs at the beginning of the tour in Latin America and then mostly stuck with the three you mentioned. Not that those were bad performances (Will singing In My Place? Yessssssss!). But they tried songs like Speed of Sound, AROBTTH, and Swallowed In the Sea only once before ignoring them for the rest of the tour. Kinda disappointing when you can predict the "fan request" song every night. But whatever. I'm going to take what I can get at my next show. I still haven't witnessed a C-stage performance from them at all. I guess acoustic Everglow was close though.

I hope we get more this weekend... hopefully whatever that is in the website code. Chris and Guy acoustic? We never really see just them playing anything, it's usually Chris and Jonny when the full band isn't involved.

Maybe we'll get another song like True Love... They could still do something fairly experimental. Ghost Stories has ASFOS, but it also has Oceans and Midnight.

If it is Sir Frank Watson Dyson, the 1919 eclipse he led an expedition to observe wasn't the one on November 22nd; this was on May 29th. However, both eclipses were visible in mostly the same parts of the world.
