Don't worry, I've never seen them live either. I became a fan in 2012 and they skipped my city on the MX tour. My family doesn't really care much...

X&Y is the album that made me a fan so it will always have a special place in my heart. Opinions of it are so divided on this site. Even if it's not as strong as some of the other albums, it just speaks to me more. My first memories of discovering Coldplay included listening to this album at night before going to bed. I remember the first time I listened to the whole thing. What an experience. :) It quickly became my favorite album and I was eager to discover more of this band so I bought a CD box set of the first four albums. It's not quite my favorite anymore but that's only because it inspired me to explore the world of music and discover new artists.

They shouldn't even try to play Up&Up because it would be cut too short.

Paradise, ASFOS, and HFTW are the most likely songs unless they just play a medley of a lot of stuff. If I had a choice, I would choose Politik, VLV, and Amazing Day, but the chances of all three appearing are zero. :(

They'll probably play a medley just like everybody who plays at the Super Bowl nowadays. Not that there's anything wrong with that because of time constraints, but... I personally want to hear entire songs. U2's halftime show with the 9/11 tribute was amazing; nobody else has matched it for me. Could Coldplay reach that level? :thinking: The current trend is to include a special guest so Beyonce would probably be their choice (even though she has performed in the past).

I love that Tokyo show! :heart: Too bad it's not the whole concert... but what is included is classic performance after classic performance. If you want to watch a full Viva concert on YouTube, there's a playlist (it shouldn't be hard to find) of a show from Melbourne in 2009. It was filmed from the audience but it is very high quality and it both looks and sounds great! I believe it includes most or all of the show. For Parachutes, my favorite song at the moment is Spies. The lyrics are fun and there's a really mysterious tone throughout the whole song that you just don't see too often outside of the Parachutes album. Jonny's EBow, guitar hook, and just his overall playing are amazing. Guy and Will sound like they're just having fun. :) As for AROBTTH, Politik will likely always be my favorite. So much emotion. The bridge and outro with that "So give me love over, love over, love over thiiiiissss, ahhhhhhhhh" line is my pick as the single most beautiful moment in a Coldplay song.

Me too! A six minute or longer song has been way overdue. Length doesn't necessarily make a song better or worse, but it's still nice to have something longer this time around.

I am also waiting until next week. I just prefer to listen to an album when it is actually intended to be released, rather than a week in advance. It's like finding out what a gift will be a while before you receive it; there is no longer any surprise involved. It has been hard for me, but at least I have Everglow, AOAL, and the live versions of AHFOD, Amazing Day, and Up&Up to tie me over.

I don't remember that, to be honest. I only remember separate sources saying that each was busy working on the album and that Davide was meant to contribute the string and horn parts. I still would love an album just produced by Rik and Davide. If you're not familiar with Davide's remix of True Love, it's beautiful. It cuts out all the poppy R&B elements while keeping the strings and most of everything else. I highly recommend it.

I am really liking this one. :) It's no Oldplay, but it reminds me of GS, MX, and X&Y. I think of this song as a combination of Magic, Up In Flames, and Proof. Except this song is better than all three for me. My opinion of it will inevitably change over time but right now I am enjoying it.

It's so hard... I don't want to listen to the whole album yet, but at the same time I want to listen to it. I already gave in and listened to Everglow (which I also originally wanted to wait for). Some of these reviews are worrying me, especially about HFTW and XMTS. I'm getting the impression that Birds is a classic and that Fun is pretty solid, so I'm absolutely looking forward to hearing those two tracks. Can't it be next Friday already? :)

So, I finally gave in and listened to Everglow (not the full leaked album, though). Here are my thoughts: I agree with every single comment about the song being like an improved Up In Flames. The production is similar but thankfully the electronic drums aren't annoying. The lyrics are better, the vocals sound better, everything sounds better. I hear some Magic in Everglow except this time they went for more of a piano ballad. Jonny has a solo towards the end (yay!) and overall the song could've fit very well on GS. It feels more natural than most of that album, though, and isn't so artificial. I'd take it over all but maybe 3-4 GS tracks. Gwyneth's "Heys" don't bother me (though the extent her contribution should've been made clear beforehand) and even though my hopes for the album's overall production are fading fast, I don't believe Stargate ruined this track. I am pleasantly surprised that I enjoy Everglow. :) I like it enough that I'd rate it about an 8.5 out of 10. My current ranking: 1. Up&Up live version (9/10) 2. Amazing Day live version (8.5/10) 2. Everglow (8.5/10) 3. AHFOD live version (8/10) 4. AOAL (7/10)
