  1. I just tried looking on the Coldplay timeline and the site wouldn't load... I thought maybe the site is down and being worked on but then it loaded like normal again. Weird false alarm!
  2. Yes, it's time for Murder to go.
  3. I doubt that there is an AHFOD connection here. Maybe promotional material for the festival will resemble the shirt but otherwise I've got nothing :P
  4. What the hell... I'd expect that from NME but not Rolling Stone, wow
  5. Wow it took me a whole day to realize that there was a double post lol.
  6. And I could write a song a hundred rhymes long..... Maybe the lyrics aren't the best thought out but regardless of lyrics I still think Swallowed In the Sea is beautiful :)
  7. I'm ok with one or two songs not having real drums but please not another full album!!
  8. The clock counting down at the start of Square One when they played it live is so cool, I like the symbolism there... it's a song that would kill me with happiness if they play it at my first Coldplay concert. Another's Arms was the only GS song I really didn't like on the album... I think the production is weird and awkward. Live, however, I feel it's much more natural and more fresh in general. Too bad they only played it a few times :(
  9. I like it... the cover will probably be bright and stunning like that though something tells me the font will be the old Parachutes-X&Y font. I could still see the album cover looking something similar your design, though.
  10. 6. Parachutes: I don't dislike Parachutes, and in fact I think it's a strong debut, but it's definitely not Coldplay at the height of their powers. They hadn't yet expanded beyond the musical territory of their main influences but managed to put together an all-around fun and not too serious work. 5. Ghost Stories: The band's mostly minimalistic 6th record has bright spots and, though it's a progression of Mylo Xyloto's pop sound, much of Ghost Stories sits towards the middle of the list of my favorite album tracks. That's not to say that there aren't bright spots like Midnight and Oceans, but little things like a lack of any real drums slightly hold the album back from its true potential. 4. Mylo Xyloto: I think of MX as a further exploration rather than the VLV sequel that it seems a lot of people expected. Though the more poppy numbers are a bit less inspired, the band still explores new sonic territory while keeping the basics of the VLV sound intact. 3. X&Y: Though it's almost universally agreed among the fanbase that AROBTTH was Coldplay's best alternative album, X&Y explores how far they can go with that sound. X&Y doesn't quite add up to its predecessor but it manages to hold its own with thoughtful lyrics and even more arena anthems. The only thing holding it back from AROBTTH is the fact that it doesn't innovate much. 2. A Rush of Blood to the Head: On only their second album, Coldplay managed to record a defining album of the alternative rock genre. It stands the test of time with not only catchy melodies and accessible, relatable themes, but also solid musicianship. This is the album that Coldplay will be remembered by long after they are gone. 1. Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends: This album is Coldplay's creative peak, marking a major change in direction that they have travelled along ever since. Brian Eno's encouragement of experimentation carries the band to new sonic landscapes that are otherwise unheard of in their catalogue. Eno, along with John Hopkins, helped Coldplay achieve a meaningful, unique album that surpasses AROBTTH in sheer creative ambition.
  11. Warning Sign vs Fake Plastic Trees (Radiohead)
  12. Correct :D Wow I thought that would take a bit longer to guess just because Postcards From Far Away is not exactly very well known. It's pretty underrated and also a pretty piece of music in its own right ;) It shows how good of a pianist Chris can be.
  13. New song to guess: I can send these home while I'm on vacation/holiday.
  14. Awesome!!! I'd be very happy with that :)
  15. Pay attention to all of MX, the vocal melody and strings of UFO, the riff of POC, the chorus of UIF, all of AHT, the verse of DLIBYH, and the "Might have to go where they don't know my name" part of UWTB. Trust me, the melody is everywhere!! :)
  16. Besides lyrics, MX, UFO, POC, UIF, AHT, DLIBYH, and UWTB are all tied together by a common melody that appears in at least part of each song. MX is a concept album in more than just a lyrical sense.
  17. Supposedly they are treating it as if it's their last album (though it's almost certainly not truly the last). You can't rush perfection, so if they want to take their time then they have every right to release AHFOD only when they consider it the best it can be. Plus, if someone says that an album is "finished," then they could mean either that the album is ready to go tomorrow or they could mean that only the recording process (minus the mixing, mastering, etc.) is complete.
  18. Don't Panic Spies was one of my favorites to win from the start so I'm going to stand by it. Don't get me wrong, Don't Panic is wonderful and it deserved to make it this far. However, to me Spies is more representative of the Parachutes sound as a whole and is slightly better live (even though there is no Jonny singing :P).
  19. That makes sense. I think the single will be an explosion of light and color with lots of guitar a la ETIAW and a soaring chorus a la Glass of Water.
  20. I know, right? I can't help tearing up either!! Those musicians have been through so much and got the memory of a lifetime. This is so amazing and a big reason why I am a Coldplay fan for life.
