  1. The surprise could be tomorrow, a week from now, or a month from now... but this lack of official news is increasingly making me think they will drop something without warning.
  2. Right now we are in the calm before the storm. Coldplay are being quiet for a reason... hopefully that reason is that they have been planning a surprise!
  3. Either this coming Monday or the following Monday will probably be the day... unless they decide to drop the single right before or after the iHeart Radio festival.
  4. I do recall someone in the We've Found The Bakery thread meeting Matt McGinn a few months ago
  5. I can't remember for sure but I think there are a few people who have met the band outside of the Bakery after GS was released. It is their own studio space so they likely used it at least a little bit before moving the sessions to Los Angeles
  6. That's a lyric from the Radiohead song Idioteque.
  7. My vote is for Yellow... :embarrassed:
  8. I'm more nervous about the Stargate tracks tbh
  9. I like that theory. Phil Tan may have already mixed the first single, leaving the band free to release it as they wrap up everything else.
  10. In the past, about how long has it taken Coldplay and co. to completely mix an album? EDIT: In other words, does the band normally mix as they record (which would likely make the process longer) or do they mix after recording?
  11. "We're not scaremongering, this is really happening!" :happy2:
  12. Thanks, I just looked and indeed Mila Furstova did mention that AHFOD and GS are opposites...
  13. I don't remember her ever saying that... perhaps you are thinking of the band's comments about AHFOD being the day while Ghost Stories is the night?
  14. I'm voting No More Keeping My Feet On the Ground
  15. I think that's a connection to Violet Hill for sure! A Spell A Rebel Yell is the soldier's wife pleading for him to come home soon. I think the whole Viva era is a narrative about a soldier who leaves his family to go fight in a war... each and every song is part of a long storyline.
  16. A Rush of Blood to the Head is a true masterpiece. It is timeless and rightfully deserves its status as probably the most liked album Coldplay have released. When someone asks me to recommend albums it is the first one that I mention. While it might or might not be Coldplay's creative peak, it is their best-known work and will be remembered for decades to come.
  17. If A Head Full of Dreams sounds like Ghost Story I'd be satisfied. However, if it's pop that Coldplay wants then the album will be more like Mylo Xyloto which is quite upbeat and colorful as a whole. Ghost Story IMO is a little darker than what the band seems to want to do next.
  18. My vote goes to Parachutes
  19. A few of my favorites: Politik (@ Grammy awards 2003) Clocks (@ Montreal 2012) Midnight (@ Royal Albert Hall 2014) Viva La Vida (@ Tokyo 2009) Square One (@ Toronto 2006) What If (@ Dingwalls 2011) 42 (@ BBC 2008) Spies (@ Parachutes release day gig 2000)
  20. I really like it! You picked a great song to cover and did the song justice. Keep it up, man
  21. I distinctly remember the time I first heard Speed Of Sound on the radio. I was lying in bed one night in the spring of 2012 with my earphones in listening to the FM radio on my old iPod Nano. I couldn't sleep and when I first heard the piano start I was immediately captivated by this unfamiliar song. The singer began to sing "How long before I get in, before it starts, before I begin?" I recognized the voice from hearing Clocks, Viva La Vida, and the new single Paradise a few times before. "Isn't this band called Coldplay?" I thought to myself as the chorus started. I had never felt so (is connected the right word?) to a song before. After the song finished it remained stuck in my head for the next several days. I started paying more attention when I heard Coldplay on the radio and before long I was familiar with the hits... but only the hits. A few weeks later my father drove me to the record store downtown which was clinging to life as iTunes exploded in popularity and streaming began to take hold. My dad let me buy a couple CDs so I looked around and happened to walk by the Coldplay albums. There were two in stock: Mylo Xyloto and X&Y. I looked on tne back of the X&Y album sleeve and when I saw that Speed Of Sound was on the track listing I thought to myself that this was the album I should buy. I bought X&Y with my own money that day and immediately fell in love with the album. As personal and family troubles began to occur X&Y carried me through. I began to look up more songs on YouTube and I came across the How We Saw the World live in Toronto show. I heard not only live versions of my new favorite songs but that film introduced me to much more of the band's work. I was inspired to discover this band and before long it became, as cliche as this sounds, the soundtrack of my life. All because of a song I heard on the radio when I felt so tired but I just couldn't sleep. Even though Viva La Vida or Death And All His Friends became my favorite album I still hold X&Y in a special place in my heart :x&y:
  22. Every time I try to walk through walls EDIT: Oops I forgot to add the "Yeah!" before this line
  23. Well I am finally back after a couple days occupied by school... and I see nothing's happened but we're still getting closer! I had a dream last night in which I saw Phil in the supermarket and he offered me a pre-release copy of the album. I only remember a few tracks in the dream but my favorite was that rumored Radio Dial song. It was this unique blend of probably Rainy Day and Charlie Brown with lots of strings and guitar. The cover art was a painting of a silhouette head with the sun rising from the top of it. Sadly I woke up fairly quickly... :sad2:
  24. We sure do need a B-side album! I hope that one day there will be an official "Complete B-sides" album because in my opinion almost every B-side is a gem and some of them are even better than album tracks!
  25. I've heard All Good Things before and it is one of only a few Nelly Furtado songs that I like. I guess I know why now :)
