If so, have you voted for Blur on Battle of the Musical Acts 2007?

I have. :D

Mine too,btw I love Blur too:D

oh ya??:) Song 2 is awesome!!!

Does anyone have 'The Great Unknown' b-side on mp3?

Or the UK iTunes-only 'Closer' (acoustic)?

I'm almost there too... today for the 1st time I listened to a travis album-... it was pretty cool

Travis... I have the CDs for three years now.

I listened to The Man Who and Good Feeling on the weekend... Again... I haven't really listened to them in ages...

The new album is perfect, there's not a single song I dislike.

When will you carry me hooooome like the wounded star in a movieee

Yes!! All the songs are perfect.. including the bsides for Closer

"The perfect combination of good etiquette and charm/ you keep the chocolate biscuts wired to a car alarm" :laugh3: I love that line.

I've loved alot of their singles for a long time, but yeah, this is the first album of theirs I've ever heard.

I'm hooked. :stunned:

can anybody pm me a link to closer b-sides??

The Invisible Band, that's my favorite album of Travis so far.

Everyone should listen to it.

This new album sounds much like TIB, I'm in love with them all over again.

Gosh, I love Fran's voice!

I just found this and I think it’s quite interesting. Some lyrics in Selfish Jean are taken from their 1997 b-sides “Standing On My Own”.

I don’t know if they were running out of words or they just thought this lyrics are too good to be forgotten lol, but I like the way they put it in the new song.

--------------

It's so sad to be alone

No one cares but no one's home

So if you're there pick up the phone

Because I'm standing on my own

Ain't it good to know you're right

And don't it soothe the darker nights

But pretty soon it will be light

Ain't it good to know you're right

But I'm standing on my own

And this house is not a home

It's so sad to see you go

Things are high things are low

And it's good to know you know

If you've got nowhere to go

You can spend the night with me

I will sleep on the settee

It's so sad to be alone

No one cares cause no one's home

So if you're there pick up the phone

Because I'm standing on my own

Because I'm standing on my own

I’ve never heard of this song before.

And I’m a bit curious to hear it.

If anyone has it, could you please upload it?

Cheers! Thanks for everything! :D

^Love those albums but i think my fav is 'good feelings' that album just blew me away :o

All the albums are amazing :)

Good Feeling is great, and quite different to all the others. They were younger and the songs are all a bit more 'rockier' for lack of a better word to use.

U16 Girls is awesome. "Na na na na na na na na na na" :D

Also love Tied to The 90s and More than Us (which is the most like their later stuff on the album).

They are all great but if I had to choose, I think 'The Man Who' would be my favourite, and close to my favourite album of all time, maybe 2nd only to 'Whats the story Morning Glory?' (Oasis).

'Why Does It Always Rain on Me?' is my favourite song of all time so no words could describe being there and hearing it live. Hoping I get the chance when they announce more shows in the near future.

Travis: 'The Boy With No Name'

It's been three years since Travis released a studio album. Three years in which the band took a break from the hectic schedule, increasing sales and manic lifestyle that going from selling 40,000 copies of debut release Good Feeling to the multi-platinum success of 2001's The Invisible Band created for them. Some might say they've been usurped by the somewhat similar talents of Coldplay and Keane, but the former are far more irritating and the latter far more melancholy than Travis could ever be.

Travis are a band with experience, history and pedigree, and it really does show. The Boy With No Name is their fifth album, released exactly ten years after their fabulous debut. The emergence of Travis into the mainstream back in the late '90s and early Noughties heralded a spate of fantastically written and brilliantly performed hits from the now-lesser-spotted Scottish group. These songs range in tone from the chirpy, simple and early on 'Tied To The '90s' to the rather more sophisticated 'Pipe Dreams', and indeed the wit and writing of Travis is clearly still improving with each release, as The Boy With No Name shows.

When listening to the band's new album, do take a moment to sit back and marvel at how lead singer Fran Healy marries the bittersweet, often low mood lyrics of Travis' songs with the orchestrations that surround his "broken up" voice. From the powerfully energetic 'Selfish Jean', which disguises a tale of failed friendship, to the delicate tones of first single 'Closer', over which Healy's voice swoops smoothly, the album is unified in concept yet disparate in tone.

All tracks on The Boy With No Name are of a similar standard of workmanship and enjoyability. Certainly, the joyful and twinkling 'My Eyes', writen the day Healy found out he was going to be a father, is a stand out, with the almost ditzy little bonus track 'Sailing Away' taking away an honourable mention, but each track on this album is a lovingly crafted piece of workmanship and a joy to listen to. Rather uniquely, nothing irritates, nothing is too whiny - absolutely nothing is sub-par about this wonderful, charming album. Long live Travis.

I saw the More than Us (live in glasgow) DVD and i absolutely loved it. Who knew someone could be that charming while taking a shit?

Some might say they've been usurped by the somewhat similar talents of Coldplay and Keane, but the former are far more irritating and the latter far more melancholy than Travis could ever be.

Or vice versa. :laugh3: Keane seem more irritating to me. :D

Thanks a lot for the article. :D
