January 13, 200719 yr No. Oh man, don't make me having to explain why I don't like some people again. I'm just with Damon Albarn on this one.
January 13, 200719 yr I don't. Obviously I don't. Why do I think Chris Martin is nice? I've never met him, I've never talked to him, I don't know him. So I don't. And still I think it. He's so greasy and 'good'. I mean, I'm sure his intentions are good and he's no bad human but he's so spaced out.
January 13, 200719 yr And grammys matter, or what? I mean, I guess I got to thank them because somehow a few of my favourite bands love them and said without them they'd never wanted to make music. I don't get why they are special at all. If I listen to them I hear nice pop songs with mediocre lyrics . Then I have to think of what a stuck up arse Bono is and have to turn it off. Also their songs get annoying so easily. Pop songs?...well maybe some songs coming from the last two albums, or maybe it depends on what concept of rock you're into To me Where the streets have no name, I will follow, Like a song, Until the end of the world, The fly, Exit, Bullet the blue sky, The Electric co, even Vertigo are rock And about mediocre lyrics, I just give you one which is not mediocre at all (at least for me): In the howling wind comes a stinging rain See it driving nails into the souls on the tree of pain From the firefly, a red orange glow See the face of fear running scared in the valley below Sky Sky Bullet the blue sky / Sky Bullet the blue sky / Sky Bullet the blue / Sky Bullet the blue / Sky In the locust wind comes a rattle and hum Jacob wrestled the angel and the angel was overcome You plant a demon seed, you raise a flower of fire See them burning crosses See the flames higher and higher Sky Sky Bullet the blue sky / Sky Bullet the blue sky / Sky Bullet the blue / Sky Bullet the blue / Sky This guy comes up to me His face red like a rose on a thorn bush Like all the colours of a royal flush And he's peeling off those dollar bills Slapping them down One hundred, two hundred And I can see those fighter planes And I can see those fighter planes Across the mud huts where the children sleep Through the alleys of a quiet city street You take the staircase to the first floor Turn the key and slowly unlock the door As a man breathes into a saxophone And through the walls you hear the city groan Outside it's America Outside it's America (America) Across the field you see the sky ripped open See the rain pour through the gaping wound Pounding the women and children Who run Into the arms Of America you can also learn some history out of this ;) but again if you don't like them I can't make you change your mind, you will stay in your opinion and I will stuck with mine
I've met him... he's not. ;) I also have a close friend who has spent a considerable amount of time with the man (that's all I can say, I've promised I won't say more.... so don't ask) and he's the best man you could know. There are no walls around the man, no allusions to something else. He's pure and real. What the media makes of him that shapes public opinion is another thing. The fact that he's a great person in private, as well as to us fans when we stand with him on the street outside a venue, that makes him a good person. (please don't get me wrong at all, I love ya, but I know you're a Peter D. fan just like me, thought a fan of his would be less likely to judge someone based on nothing.... sorry I'm just so defensive of Bono.)
January 13, 200719 yr And in my opinion, these are probably the greatest lyrics ever... they just describe everything about me, and yeah. I could never consider these mediocre. Ever. Even if Fall Out Boy wrote them :laugh4: 'Acrobat' Don't believe what you hear, don't believe what you see If you just close your eyes you can feel the enemy. When I first met you girl, you had fire in your soul. What happened t'your face of melting snow Now it looks like this! And you can swallow or you can spit You can throw it up, or choke on it And you can dream, so dream out loud You know that your time is coming round So don't let the bastards grind you down. No, nothing makes sense, nothing seems to fit. I know you'd hit out if you only knew who to hit. And I'd join the movement If there was one I could believe in Yeah, I'd break bread and wine If there was a church I could receive in. 'Cause I need it now. To take the cup To fill it up, to drink it slow. I can't let you go. And I must be an acrobat To talk like this and act like that. And you can dream, so dream out loud And don't let the bastards grind you down. What are we going to do now it's all been said? No new ideas in the house, and every book's been read.
January 13, 200719 yr and sooo underrated...I think this song is the proof that many times the most amazing and beautiful songs are not singles...this and Ultraviolet make a mindblowing duet played one after the other, not forgetting Mothers of the disapperad, so touching thinking what it refers to
January 13, 200719 yr I love acrobat as well. I had it as the song of the day on my blog on Thursday. :)
January 13, 200719 yr My favorite U2 songs have ALWAYS been the ones that aren't singles... Although I love those as well, overall my favorites are the ones that no one outside of U2 fans would know. Ahhh Mothers Of The Disapeared is so touching..... ahhh I love it.
January 13, 200719 yr Ultra Violet  My favorite at the moment (not all time mind you) Peace on Earth. @ ég-elska-Thom  Thanks for your contributon.. .. .. thank you, please come again .. .. .. ..

January 14, 200719 yr I figured out for myself today that Coldplay are in a way a better verison of U2. :laugh3: All by yourself? Wow!! and it took you all day eh? I am still working on it myself . . . You'd never see Chris Martin trying to eat Johnny Buckland's shoes. . . That's why U2 are better. It's all about the shoes.
January 14, 200719 yr has anyone seen the window in the skies video? i haven't yet, i'm not even sure it's been released yet but from what i've seen, it's sooo good, and i'm not someone who actually pays much attention to videos.

January 15, 200719 yr I think it was our two Melbourne shows that were filmed . . . maybe if I look real hard i might be able to see me. . . . where were you at the shows? Eclipse? or seated? I went to the 1st show, I was in the ellipse, about 5 or 6 rows back right from the barrier smack in the centre, so basically bono's microphone stand directly in front.....I dont wanna be in a movie :stunned: hahaha god knows how i would look!!! At the time I didnt give much thought to the camera crane going over our heads, I thought it was normal feature at all aussie shows, haha
January 15, 200719 yr thanks Denise, and thanks Carole for the links, the first is way better imo but both are still great :P
