Oh I thought that we could know the next setlist. I saw previous setlist and I didn't really like it. There weren't songs that I really love.

I don't know if I'm going or not.

No one knows if they're gonna change it or not. What Gorillaz songs do you love?

I'm guessing your not a fan of Plastic Beach? Since their set has been mainly the new album along with the old hits from the previous two.

I found this adorable pic of Jamie on tumblr. I didn't know where else to post it so I guess here is best :nice:

n'awww so cute, you can totally tell it's him :cheesy:

Omg

He's so cute! :wacky: <3

I had no clue there was a Gorillaz thread otherwise I would have posted this here!:lol:

It's 2D (aka Damon using his alter ego as the credit) covering a classic Steely Dan song-this is sexy as HELL! :D

OOOH WORK IT BBS WORK IT!!!!!!!!!!!

Isn't that song hot? And it's VERY close to the original too. Damon's 2D voice is soooooo sensual! (not that his normal voice isn't, mind you!:wink3:)

They need to play songs from the first album. I mean, i love Clint Eastwood but it would be really cool to see some 19/2000, Tomorrow Comes Today, 5/4, Re-Hash, M1A1,etc.

But no, one of my favourite albums gets narrowed to just one song.

I also want to know when exactly are they going to play "Plastic Beach":

I'm sure you guys have all heard about the cancellation of the CT show-here's the link just in case:

http://gorillaz-news.livejournal.com/393656.html

I just wish that people wouldn't bash on the guys on this-I have a feeling this was something beyond their control and surely something they didn't want to do. I really hope they have good luck with them on the rest of the tour, for them AND the fans (and PLZ don't let anything happen with the PHX show okay?;) )

Was it a rescheduling problem like the other three dates?

Was it a rescheduling problem like the other three dates?

They actually hadn't said the reason yet but one of the rumors was lack of sales-which I REALLY hope they don't have to shut down due to that. :(

Weird. But yah I don't think they are that big over here. Most ppl only know Feel Good Inc. :(

And Dare too. But still that's not enough. :(

Its so sad too-I think of more people opened their eyes and ears to it they would love it.

Another thing I've been hearing is that people aren't loving the 'Phase 3' of PB-honeslty I love it. I LOVE how this whole thing is a story about them-and I LOVE how Jamie has fleshed out the characters and made them more human by actually aging them and not keeping them forever young in Toon Land. (Sorry-I'm going all philosophical here-must be the cold pills! :laugh3:)

Lastly-read a cute little tidbit the other day-did you guys know that Noodle is a Graham Girl? :D

Despite that i do love this phase, you got to admit that this phase is not being comercially succesfull as the last two.

Stylo was a failure, with little airplay on TV and radio stations. On Melancholy Hill is not really going that well either.

Of course i'm not saying that the money and charts are the most important things on an artist/band since i care more about the songs. But with Gorillaz is somewhat different.

If the whole tour thing doesn't get that well, then i don't know how will they get money for the third video (or the website, which has been there for like two months with no update).

Another thing:

I'm being kinda alienated by the single selection, when everybody thought the next video would be Superfast Jellyfish (me including) Jamie switches to OMH but then Superfast is still the second single. Did this happened before? A third single being the second video and the second single being the third? (or fourth, maybe they put Rhinestone Eyes as a third video being a fourth single and superfast gets fourth video and a chance of being stuck in limbo; or maybe they actually put out some other song of the album as a single (which is not possible since the rest of the songs don't really qualify as 'single material'))

Then there's the format of the singles. So far, the singles have been in digital format (kinda makes sense, i don't think they sell the physical format anymore. Even some HMV stores got rid of them). But there was no promotion whatsoever, so that may be the reason why Stylo didn't took off as a lead single.

So yeah, that was my whole babble about this thing.

Right? This whole thing is so depressing. Especially with how excited everone was with them actually doing the concerts (they were a BIG thing at Coachella from what it sounded like-I didn't get to go. :( And I pray they don't have to cancel any more shows-Everyone who is a Gorillaz fan shoud get to see this).

I don't understand why people nowadays tend to favor the electronic bleeps and autotuning that's put out there as 'music'. Its really killing the industry. (Again if this doesn't make sense it's cold-med-induced babble!)

Remember when Gorillaz was labeled as "zombie hip-hop"?

*sigh*... i miss those spooky/eerie tracks from S/T and Demon Days.

Oh I know-I've been listening to the first album a lot lately-I've had 'Dracula' stuck in my head all day! :laugh3:

It's so damn depressing that this phase hasn't done as well as the others. It should. I mean it is a fantastic album, the visuals are stunning. What the hell is wrong with people?? The charts are absolute shit, it's the same rubbish recycled again and again, and nobody seems to notice. There is fantastic music all over the place and no-one seems to see it. It's so damn frustrating!! I really hope there are no more gigs cancelled.

I hope you feel better soon Shani! I'm sick at the min too - so we can cheer each other up :D

Hey this must be Jamie's way of saying everything is good with Graham again right? Now they don't have to kill each other and they can share Damon in peaceful co-existance

Yah, I don't know why people are not taking as well to it. Maybe because I guess we could say it's a bit more mellow than the previous two? It's personally my fav. album of theirs so idk

Simply, there's no hits on Plastic Beach and mainstream radio refused to touch it. Do you really think they didn't try to court people in Radio 1, and commercial radio, and radio in the US, and MTV.... Plus no big product tie-in like the ipod commercial.

With tickets well:-

economy is sh!t, also the 'live' bubble seems to have burst a bit, 'rock' is not as 'in' as it was a few years ago, they probably projected a tour based on selling a lot more copies of PB and PB being bigger than it was, also they probably overestimated the amount of people that would pay high prices for Gorillaz gigs because something we have fans have had a reasonable feel for is that Gorillaz is a band that many people quite like but proportionately fewer are fanatical about.

With the fanclub and shop and the website, yeah, they dropped the ball, no real way of denying it. Maybe it's trying to cut corners, maybe they didn't have the right people there, whatever, I'm sure they are doing the best they can with what they have, but the results haven't been there.

(Finally let's note that PB was almost as critically acclaimed as Demon Days, and more so than the s/t)

Oh yeah and Glasto, actually, I regard that as quite a triumph, there were a significant minority of reviewers who said it's what Glasto needed, I think in future years SERIOUS critics are going to see this for the daring feat it was. I don't give a f*ck if people wanted the Stones or U2, Glastonbury is more than that, always has been, Gorillaz helped make it that again today in 2010. If it discourages a few Guardian readers (btw I read the Guardian) from going there as a matter of course, because it's expected, because it's an institution - then GOOD!

More babble of mine.

Thank you BB! Yeah there's seriously something going around (even here in hot AZ-hell the desert heat probably makes us more vulnerable to germs and crap). And YES to cheering each other up-speaking of.....

OK-so these are from Gorillaz Unofficial-this first snippet is from 'The Apex Tapes':

Noodle - One to One

[2-J's note: DarkSakura writes: "A friend of mine, Haruna Akatsuki, did her best to translate Noodle's Apex

Tape interview. Noodle speaks in a rather fake accent, similar to the Kansai dialect of Southern Japan, but is occasionally unintelligible." Translations thanks to DarkSaukra and her friend!]

Q1(#60): Jimmy page or Graham Coxon? Who rocks the most?

"Duh, Graham Coxon, who else?"

And here's another snippet:

Gorillaz-Unofficial says: Full name: unknown at time of writing. Her past remains a mystery although we may discover more during Phase Two. The one thing that is supposedly true is that it is a tradition for members of her family to attend a zen guitar monastery, where one of her ancestors found the Missing Chord (and she supposedly went to this monastery too). During Phase One Noodle spoke no English whatsoever. She had her own interpreter, Alan, who was in many interviews with her. When she did speak she came up with many profound comments for one so young (including a couple of Haiku posted on the Official Gorillaz Forums), although Murdoc often took pleasure in mis-translating what she was saying in live interviews, at the London Forum gig, etc. Has a teenage 'thing' for Graham Coxon. Noodle returned to Japan in late 2003 and found out the truth about her past there, but she has not revealed anything more yet. She can now speak English, albeit with quite a strong accent, and apparently she 'realised she could already speak English' as opposed to learning it. In the band she plays the guitar and judging by her recorded output she must be one of the best young guitarists in the world. She's also now more of a teenager, not letting the boys into her room, and despairing of them a lot of the time. Her bond to 2D has always been strong; she described him as 'smelling of butterscotch angel delight' in an early intervew, and in the video to 'Rock It' she is seen being carried by a weary 2D.

Awww thats what I was thinking about the Noodle/Graham thing too Lizzy! :D

And I hear ya-I adore the whole concept of Gorillaz-I hate when things become formula just because the masses accept that so much more. Music is art, and art is about creativity-it doesn't need to be accepted by everyone (nor should it be), but at the same time, I think if more people listened to it they'd like it. But also like I've said before, if more people don't, oh well-that just means more for us, right? :D

*HIGH FIVES* You rawk-I agree on all of this! :D

No, your right. But then again Damon has never given a crap whether American radio stations play his music.

Plus he doesn't cares whether it's commercially successful or not. So I mean he isn't going to cater to radio stations and make sure he includes radio friendly songs on his album.
