He sure did! This is positive news in my eyes for sure. It's good to read an interview with him in an upbeat way like this too.:D

And it just occured to me-don't think these have been posted here yet:

Well it was that too. And it allowed Damon to not be the typical "frontman" of a band anymore, with all or most of the attention placed on the singer. At least that's how he put it :P

Yes! hahaha and Blur were always so drunk during most of their shows. Even at the reunion shows last year it had a fun atmosphere to it, I liked how Damon and Phil Daniels still played around with each other during Parklife especially. :D

Gorillaz is totally a different thing.

I love how Damon thinks. :wacky:

Was he drunk at their reunion shows? I seriously don't know how he has so much energy. :dead:

Man, when are we going to get more songs????? I hate it when they tease us like these.

Actually, I love the alternate version, and I think I listened to the alternate version before the album one; I have not bought Plastic Beach, mainly because I'm so stubborn I want to get the better edition ones.

Glitter Freeze is such a unique song. No one other than Damon could have thought of it. :cheesy:

UGH, I'm seriously sick of the G U forum's negativity about everything they do lately.

I agree. I'm pretty sick of the attitude over there. It's like a constant stream of whining. It gets very tedious very quickly.

It actually saddens me in that respect as Jamie (and obviously Damon) are well aware of GU-I think Jamie has even done interviews with them and given them shout-outs. That just seems disrespectful to the whole thing if you ask me. :(

This is what bothers me most about it. Didn't Damon say that he read a comment about Stylo - that someone said it sounded like it had been put together in half an hour? He looked quite upset when he said it actually and people on the GU were saying that he read that on the site. It is disrespectful.

Well, for once i kinda have to agree on that phrase. The lack of any good surprises that were present in the last phases and the whole treatment to the fans (which is seriously a flaw in this phase) left them with that taste. It's not that they endiose a person more than another. It's just that they can't really trust the management this time.

Yeh, I know what you mean, there have been a lot of fuck-ups in the last few months but most of them have been unavoidable. Plus, there are people saying they're not getting their moneys worth for the Subdivision, and yet they are getting a litho worth £75 pounds for the £30 they paid, not to mention the fact that they are limited edition and so will be worth a lot more in the future. Surely that in itself is worth the money? I understand some of the anger of fans - like the ones who lost money on travel and accomodation for cancelled or rescheduled shows, but sometimes things like that happen. It's not like it was done deliberately to screw them over. Anyway, rant over :)

Fuck them, if I had seen comments like that about Stylo I would of probably gotten banned at the GU forum !

I have no idea why they are so pro-Jamie over there. I love Jamie too but in all honestly you can have a band without art, you cant have a band without music :dozey:

I barely visit the G U forums. I think I have an account there. Gorillaz Unofficial, right?

I think Stylo is a beautiful song. Fuck those who don't think so. The combination between highly melodious tune with dead-pan rap and an amazing singing verse, it's an amazing song.

Why are they so pro-Jamie?

I feel a little for Jamie, the visual aspect of Gorillaz has definitely decreased over the years, I wonder how does he feel about it. :\

But the artwork for Plastic Beach is awesome.

Sub-Division Club shouldn't have to be invented in the first place, it was just a quick move to get more people to be directed to PB. Seriously, if they wanted pre-sale tickets, they could easily put it in the G-Club.

Other thing: A lot of the people bought the Experience Edition for two things:

-DVD

-Extra Online Content

The initial content was good: you got 4 Roundhouse that weren't aired on TV, a digital booklet and a 3D Game.By now you think that they will update the section with new content. However, i'm devasted seeing that the Sub-Divisioners are getting a lot of stuff and i don't get even a goddamn thing. Wasn't that the whole point for the Experience Edition? The special things that came with it? Well then give me my special things.

Man, i know Zombie Flesh Eaters are small and don't got a lot of people. But there's a simple solution: hire new people. If the initial people can't update the Beachsite properly, new staff could be the solution. Jamie can do it, it's simple.

I think to use recordings would be much easier and cut down cost? Because it's not exactly cheap to have a world tour being Gorillaz, they probably have the most live members than most bands.

I agree, in Gorillaz, he's the mastermind, but the composing credits goes under the name Gorillaz, I'm not sure whether it's completely Damon or with help from contributors. Someone can clear me on this please?

In Blur, I think those were the days where he's not so famous, so catchy tunes is important if they want to make it big. However, I think he's the mastermind behind the Britpop genre. And yeah, Graham influences the music a lot too. It's like having 2 main composers in a band, but quite a good combination.

@tarareid : Hello there! Fellow Damon fangirl? :P

Well in Blur he created Britpop, which I mean, it really did save British culture for a time. I think everything he has done so far though musically has been exceptionally diverse.

What's your name? :D I'm Liz

Watching Bananaz you see that the main idea for the song and probably about 80% of the song is all Damon's ideas. In the studio though it changes a bit as he starts getting in there with other people and seeing how it sounds. So I would say it's him, but he didn't want Gorillaz to be another band that was focused on him at all, so I think that's why he shares the credit with everyone.

He definitely was more famous in Blur! Paparazzi's always outside his house, him and Justine in every magazine. Britpop dayz were crazy. And really thanks to all that is why we even have Gorillaz. He wanted to make music again but didn't want all the crap that came with being a front man. Hence why they played behind a curtain for the first album, and the whole concept of Gorillaz being a cartoon band.

I'm D and I'm a bloke haha. Don't ask me about my username, I don't even know how I still use this lols.

But yeah, about the Britpop thing, I'm not really sure since I'm not really into Blur, fancying only a few of their songs. But I guess Britpop was big when Oasis were huge back then, correct me if I'm wrong for this one..

The way I see about pre-recorded backtracks is that they could as well use backtracks for everything and just sing live. That's how I come up with the term 'unoriginal'.

((((((DAMON))))))) Buddy if it helps, I friggin LOVE Stylo!!!!!!!!!! :D:kiss:

I'm lovin this new pic Jamie did-2D reminds me of one of those cartoons from the 30s! :laugh3:

I LOVE this pic. I have it as my desktop background. It's quite a different syle to most of the Gorillaz artwork. I really love it.

And Stylo kicks ass. You're always gonna have people disliking things, but the way I see it, they should try making better themselves and then criticise.

Hey D. I'm D too :). Welcome. They really don't use many backing tracks though. I think 'Welcome to the world of the plastic beach' has snoop's bit prerecorded, and that's about it really. Oh and Neneh Cherry's bit was pre-recorded for Kids with Guns at Glastonbury. I think that's it. I don't think that's much. Plus, it's not like you're really being shortchanged - you've got two orchestras and a fantastic band playing live.

And a new Damon interview with the National Post: http://arts.nationalpost.com/2010/09/27/its-about-to-get-real-for-damon-albarn-and-gorillaz/

There is lots of exciting news revealed in the interview, including:- New/updated visuals for the tour, 19-2000 will be played at N.Y., maybe at other dates, Damon plans to record additional material on the tour (in a studio setting) to accompany / go with / supplement unreleased material from the Plastic Beach sessions (though nothing is stated about how this may see a release).

I'm thrilled actually.

Oohhhhh :surprised:

All that stuff is so Jamie-like :P He's a complete neat freak btw. I can see how with all the stuff he has, it would be chaos if he wasn't.

I will have to listen to that interview when I get back... I'm exited though, just by what you said :bomb:

Jamie would be such a hoot to hang with-so crazy!!!!!:D

And LM-thank you for that interview! That definitely puts everything in a positive light!

Thanks for that interview :wacky:

5 tour buses just for the musicians on tour huh? :sneaky: looks like that's where I will be chilling before and after the show heeehe
