March 24, 200917 yr A small tour has been announced as well! Wolverhampton Civic on the 1st of June is one of the dates! Woohoo! Rest of the venues and dates are up on http://www.manics.co.uk. Absolutely love the albums artwork and the songtitles!
March 27, 200917 yr Booked my ticket for Wolves! Just relistened to Peeled Apples from Zane Lowes show and it is totally awesome!
April 3, 200917 yr Got my ticket! Wayhey! Trying to avoid hearing anymore of the songs now until I buy the album as I think hearing them in isolation spoils the effect a bit. Anyone else on here going to the gigs in May/June?
April 5, 200917 yr I'm paying the grand total of nothing for my album unless you can put some sort of money value on 2600 nectar points earned for doing surveys
April 7, 200917 yr Gonna get mine from HMV I think! Nice piece by John Niven about the album on the official site.
May 16, 200917 yr JFPL got a 9/10 review from Teletexts Planet Sound. Supermarkets are having the album cover censored because it is apparently 'inappropriate'. Eh? Interview with Nicky up on Planet Sound today talking about Richey.
May 17, 200917 yr The birthmark of the girl in the painting 'looks like blood' apparently. But it's ok for Britney to be almost starkers on her album/single covers. The Ch 4 programme last night was great. James nearly blew the roof of with his vocals and they read some of the song lyrics out in the fashion of a poetry reading which was interesting. A shame Sean is too busy at the moment with new baby to be involved in the promo!
May 17, 200917 yr The new album is really good. The lyrics are harder to follow this time around, for me, but they certainly have depth and require repeated listens to figure out roughly what they're about. As for general style, its very much the early Manics sound, with the added benifit of a decade and a half of experience, and it sounds pretty awesome. Plenty of guitars and sone really good hooks and solos throughout. James' voice is on top form, too. Although I kinda prefer the style of Send Away The Tigers and Everything Must Go, I think it's definitely one of their strongest albums, and probably their most consistent in a while. I'm really impressed, and i only recently started listening to them. Well worth checking out!
May 18, 200917 yr Got both versions of the album today! Marlon JD is probably my fave on the album. Can't wait to mosh to it at Wolverhampton. This could be even shades better that The Holy Bible which is a mighty achievement! The demos are fantastic too and really show off James' amazing vocals. If you haven't got it, buy it!
May 22, 200917 yr Start wiiiith... hmm, Everything Must Go and the new album, Journal for Plague Lovers.
May 23, 200917 yr Which albums should I get of Manics to get into them. This Is My Truth Tell Me Yours, The Holy Bible, Journal For Plague Lovers, Everything Must Go, Generation Terrorists and Lifeblood to start you off. Phew! Then when you can afford it get everything else!
May 23, 200917 yr Perhaps you should wait until you're a bit more into the Manics before you try The Holy Bible. It's a masterpiece, but I wouldn't recommend it to start with if you're a first time listener. It's not for the faint-hearted, to put it lightly.
