July 21, 200520 yr i had already post a comment about this in a spanish section but i think that everyone should be able to discuss it. this monday i was watching a mexican TV show called "valvula de escape" , and they said that Shakira stole the chords from "clocks" for a song called "la pared" that´s in her new CD "fijación oral 1"..i´ve already heard it and yes it´s sounds like the principal chords of "clocks"....what do you think about this?
July 21, 200520 yr Well, first of all I would like to know whether Coldplay KNOW that the chords are in Shakira's song or if she really STOLE it - but no matter if she has the permission or not, I think it sucks, because I don't like Shakira's songs at all and I'll definetely try to prevent myself from listening to her song, because otherwise it may ruin "Clocks" for me.. Anyway, I guess it's a question of taste
July 21, 200520 yr Author she didn´t have permission, they said that on the TV show..they even looked inside the cd box and everything hoping to find a "thanks to EMI for ..." but they didn´t found anything...
July 21, 200520 yr Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo SHAKIRA SUCKS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
July 21, 200520 yr I just heard it, and at about 35 seconds into the song the drums come in and it has a similar beat to clocks and also the keyboard plays arpeggios that are rhythmically like clocks but they arent the exact same chords. Also the ''sound'' of her song 'La Pared' is terrible, it sounds so fake and lifeless. what bad production.
July 21, 200520 yr Well, I don't really think that it is like Clocks too much, simply to the fact that it sounds SO bad. Really sounds like shit.
July 21, 200520 yr can anybody post a link where to listen the song 'la pared' please :) i didn't listen this song so... i can say what i think about... *goes to check shakira site*
July 21, 200520 yr si las robó :stunned: si suenan muy poquito, como unos 5 segundos yes it sound like are the same chords, just like 5 second but it sound like the same http://www.shakira.com/ click where the pics says 'music' click the red album (first on the left) and then click where says 'listen' on 'la pared'. :idea2:
July 21, 200520 yr Those aren't the same chords, but the progression is the same. Same 8 note-type with two groups of 3 and 2 at the end. Hey, it's funny that everyone's talking about ripping off Coldplay, when they were inspired by a rift from Rush.
July 21, 200520 yr Shakira is not that bad. Well, she is now but before she became popular in the states we was pretty good.
July 21, 200520 yr Hey, it's funny that everyone's talking about ripping off Coldplay, when they were inspired by a rift from Rush. what Rush song is that by any chance?
July 21, 200520 yr MY SECOND POST! oh joy! wow...look at all you! well...im a decent pianist...and in my opinion...i dont think she stole anything...It's a moderately simlar rhythm...but i imagine that its pretty hard to write a song that has a rythm that no ones ever tried before... ...theres only so much u can do with four notes and a shitty synthesizer...cmon now...leave the girl alone... Also, don't believe everything "valvula de escape" tells u... and Also, creo que shakira is hotttttt.... buenas tardes, mmmmmatty
July 21, 200520 yr Hey, it's funny that everyone's talking about ripping off Coldplay, when they were inspired by a rift from Rush. what Rush song is that by any chance? That would be "Countdown"
July 21, 200520 yr how could she! even thought its not the EXACT same thing, when people hear it they will know they have heard that before
July 21, 200520 yr I listened to it on iTunes and it sounds alot like (shit) the riff from Clocks. ...Meerrrughhh.
July 21, 200520 yr SHAKIRA SUCKS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!
