Arctic Monkeys!

Featured Replies

yeahh, i guess they dont make the music, but they definitely have helped make the bands image and sound.

the instrumentals are ridiculously great. a few of my friends have no taste in music whatsoever, they just like rap and other top 40 crap. so i gave them a link to this. the drums. the guitar.

Mardy Bum is my favorite Arctic Monkeys song. FTRTTR is up there as well.

from the ritz to the rubble and a certain romance are my favorites.

when the sun goes down got me into them.

I love A Certain Romance. When the Sun Goes Down is good but nowhere near my favorite Monkeys song.

some people say a certain romance is boring.

i think its perfect.

he looks so fucking pissed:lol:

A Certain Romance is easily one of my favourite songs of all time. When The Sun Goes Down is the song that made me an AM fan cos i didnt like Dancefloor that much. Mardy Bum is another favourite of mine for reasons i'll keep to myself.

they are the only band in my top 10 who have released less than 4 albums.

Fake Tales forever. Plus, to whoever said Riot Van is mediocre.. it's one of my favorites off the first record. :(

I think I'm gonna wait for a better quality/release version of Humbug.

My fave song of all albums is 'From the ritz to the rubble'. I love the lyrics of the opening verses.

his way or no way,

totalitarian.

I love A Certain Romance too. That song is just perfection with the guitar in the beginning.

Also, Alex rolling his eyes in that clip is just win.

Arctic Monkeys recorded bit of 'Humbug' at 'mad desert structure'

Arctic Monkeys' Alex Turner has revealed that the band recorded a part of forthcoming new album 'Humbug' in a structure initially built after the man behind it was inspired by a night visit from a "being".

The singer/guitarist told NME's sister title Uncut that the Sheffield four-piece recorded part of 'Secret Door' at a structure named Integration near the Joshua Tree in California, when the group were recording with Queens Of The Stone Age's Josh Homme.

"It's a structure erected by a fellow called George Van Tassel," he explained, "who had a visit in the night from some kind of being who instructed him to build an acoustically sound dome involving an electro-magnet.

"It's believed that the objective in building this thing was to recharge or rejuvenate human cells, except he never finished it before he died. It's a mad place. We did a little recording of 'Secret Door' there one night.

listening carefully to some of the instruments in the intro and throughout the song. there's uncanny simiarlity between the songs. all in all sound completely different but the openings are very very similar. or maybe its just me.

I went to the show at Highline Ballroom in NYC last night. I don't know the band that well, but the show was excellent. I squeezed myself next to the stage, took some shots before my camera battery died. There's a picture of the setlist, which I assume is the most important thing. In add'l P. Diddy was there with his crew in the balcony, :surprised: he seemed like he was into it for the most part. He's just a bad dancer, did an almost "running man" move at one point and me and this guy next to me almost cracked up. Enjoy the photos, sorry I can't be of more help with details.

What a killer encore, Secret door and 505. I'd be VERY happy with that setlist, except for the fact they missed ritz.

They were on Jimmy Kimmel last night.
