November 18, 200520 yr This fantastic photographer deserves a major nod and applause. I don't think I've ever seen a photographer that has better defined a band and helped them to achieve the image that they were aiming towards. If you don't know who Kevin is, definitely check his site out. To understand his perspective in imagery is to better understand multiple facets of Coldplay. Kevin, I salute you. http://www.kevinwestenberg.com
November 18, 200520 yr Yeah he is great but I hate the website. it is too big to fit on my screen so I can't find the coldplay pics on it....other than that he is great
November 18, 200520 yr Author After the short intro, there's a Coldplay link on the right side. There's also a classic photo of them in the Classics2 section.
November 18, 200520 yr alphaskye, I was there. At Philips... in that buidling... on that night. Wow. And also, can you please post the original picture of your icon if you have it? It's beautiful!
November 19, 200520 yr can you post the direct link. it won't let me scroll around on the web site. i had this problem before
November 19, 200520 yr I adore Kevin Westenberg's work as well.. I recently saw a short clip about him on MTV, where he did a little monologue - very smart and great things! And while he was talking, they showed his pictures on buildings and posters all around the world - including a huuuuge poster of Coldplay on a skyscraper :D
November 19, 200520 yr Author Ohh that video clip is on his site! There's a video section where you can watch that MTV clip and another clip about a Asian model that he photographed. It's hilarious.
November 20, 200520 yr Author alphaskye, I was there. At Philips... in that buidling... on that night. Wow. And also, can you please post the original picture of your icon if you have it? It's beautiful! Here's the original. ;) And talking more about photography, here's a classic example of why I admire Kevin's photographic prowess so much. Just check out the difference between these two similar photos: (Kevin's photo) Maybe it's just me being sensitive to the moods portrayed in photos, but the 2nd shot totally blows the first one out of the water. It's so much more Coldplay and it seems more true to the guys themselves. I love it how great photography can do things like that.
November 20, 200520 yr yes he is an amazing photographer...and yes i agree with your comparison of those two pictures..the 2nd one definatley stands out more..jonnys haor looks weird in the 1st one :/
November 20, 200520 yr Thanks Alpha! Totally agree with the picture comparison. :) And egghead... I do believe I see Jonsi in your avatar. As in the brilliant main siger to the brilliant band Sigur Ros.
November 20, 200520 yr Author yeah' date=' he's ok. Not the best band photog I've seen[/quote'] Who are you favorite photogs then? I'm curious because I've just recently become interested in concert photography, and I'd love to see some other pros' work.
November 20, 200520 yr And egghead... I do believe I see Jonsi in your avatar. As in the brilliant main siger to the brilliant band Sigur Ros. You would be correct. I took that photo at their Ottawa concert a few months ago.
November 20, 200520 yr Who are you favorite photogs then? I'm curious because I've just recently become interested in concert photography, and I'd love to see some other pros' work. most of my favourite photog's don't shoot concerts exclusively. I like Chris Weeks ( http://cweeks.deviantart.com/ http://www.chrisweeks.net/), Henri Cartier-Bresson, Jim Marshall http://www.jimmarshallvault.com/ , Anton Corbijn http://www.corbijn.co.uk/ ...
November 20, 200520 yr it's kinda weird how photographers for Coldplay are automatically also associated with U2. or is that the other way around?
November 21, 200520 yr Author Yeah those are some interesting perspective photographers. Definitely unique. I admire a photographer when they can branch out into different genres and still stay true to their style. And that Kevin photo of the many photographers- I love it so because it sets Kevin apart from the usual photographer pack while also setting Chris apart and above the crowd. Gotta love the colors too! As for the U2/Coldplay goes, I don't think I've seen enough photographers of the two bands to say which comes first. Chicken or the egg....
November 21, 200520 yr Yeah he is great but I hate the website. it is too big to fit on my screen so I can't find the coldplay pics on it....other than that he is great yeah, that's terrible! plus, i can't save the pics directly!
