How did you first hear about Coldplay?

Featured Replies

I first heard about them after seeing the video for Clocks on a friend's webpage about 6 months ago. The video was called "Cold Fusion by Coldplay". I was intrigued, researched their songs a bit, and the rest is history. Funny how great discoveries can happen by accident.

From my friend Zac. He insisted that I listen to them even though I thought they wouldn't be any good and I found that my assumption was just the opposite. They are like no other.

I heard Clocks on the radio one day, my first exposure ever to Coldplay. I loved the song, and later I heard The Scientist. I thought "...Is this by the same people?"

I loved both songs and found out the titles by searching for the lyrics.

Boom, boom, boom, here we are... more than two years later. :smug:

Firstly i heard Clocks and i loved it then i listen some of the released songs but i didn't try to listen other songs.. with fix you , i discovered coldplay again.

Trouble got me into Coldplay. Both the song and the word literally.

lol! Sounds like there's a good story to that one. ;)

I became a fan with Trouble as well! I didn't become a MAJOR fan until ROBTTH came out, however. I remember it had come out that week and I had a fight with my dad. He felt bad and told me I could get a CD to apologize or whatever, I can't really remember. I decided to pick that one because it was discounted. Plus I had liked Yellow, Trouble, etc etc. I think it's been almost 4 years now of them being one of my favorite bands. That's a long time...whew.

i've heard "in my place" on the tv and i liked it. thats all :P

It was a hot afternoon about 4-5 years ago I was at home switching channels when I stopped on mtv and saw chris walking on a beach and heard the most amazing song I've ever heard YELLOW! love them since then!

About 3 years ago, I met a girl. I went into her bedroom. After a while I noticed some music playing in the background... it was High Speed. Then a month later she bought me Parachutes... since then I have been hooked.

I was just listening to the radio one day and I heard "Don't Panic". Then I was just addicted to them and have been since

First coldplay song I immediately fell in love with when I heard it for the first time was clocks. But I'm sure I've heard trouble before that because when I bought parachutes and listened to it properly, I knew I had heard trouble before. After hearing clocks I asked people if they knew the song, and someone mentioned coldplay...

my brother :)

as always..

i love him for making me listen to good music

Erm... I heard In My Place and Clocks very often on the radio, but I never really knew, that it was from Coldplay.

I really heard about Coldplay when I saw the Scientist-Video on MTV - that was great!

It is strange but at first when I saw the television while it was changing the channels,I always saw a video of a person was walking along the beach and immediately change.I never put attention to the video,Till one day.I think it was in 2001

I always listen the radio before I sleep,so one night I fall sleep with the radio turn on,and a song wake me up.Its was "Trouble".

The first time I heard that song it was strange, cause at that time my english was not very good(in fact right now is the same, but anyway)but I could feel the message of the song.

The night after the same happens to me exactly, the same song wake up again. The piano sound when the song started, make feel something I ever felt before.

After that I start to search, who was the group or person that sing that song. For my surprise it was the same group of who did not want to see his video.

After I finally see the video an watched "Yellow",Coldplay becomes my favorite group ever.

Well that was my history of how I start listen Coldplay.

Thanks for taking the time to read this post

i remember i first heard them when i saw the Yellow video clip, and i didnt like them at first! but it took a bit of getting used to... (its one of my faves now).

nothing much happened after that, but then my bro asked for AROBTTH cd for christmas 2003, and i got it for him. a month or two later i was bored with what i was listening to and asked him for a recommendation and he gave me that. ahh... it was love at first listen... i was one of those freaky ppl hu listened to the album 6-8 times a day for a few weeks

Was dating a Brit fella in 2002 and he bought me a copy of Parachutes. I've since moved on (in the dating arena ;) ) but with Coldplay? I've been hooked ever since.

I think they were doing something like the UK single charts in some TV channels..maybe MTV, I can't remember...and suddenly I heard this wonderful song "Yellow"..uauh it was very simple, the video as well, but I instantly fell in love with it...then came Parachutes, I had it from one of my friends, and I couldn't stop listening to it :D

And well AROBTTH was a confirmation, like now X&Y, and finally I've been also able to see them live two times, hope next time will be outside Italy, I'd like to see them in London

I will give Brits this much - not only do they have incredible accents, but they usually have a keen taste in good music. ;)

LOL! I'm guilty there too. :D

I heard "Clocks" alot near the end of my freshman year in High School.. And learned to play it, never really knowing about Coldplay, and not even knowing if I liked the song, but I knew who Coldplay was forever after that. When I got Kazaa I had Clocks and Trouble on there, and that's about it... Later I heard "The Scientist" played at the end of the movie "Wicked Park" and loved it, forgot about it for a couple months, then tried to find it, and found out that Coldplay sang it. We got A Rush Of Blood To The Head (the album) for Christmas last year, and that was it. That was the beginning of Coldplay 24/7 in our house :D

in the yellow vid..didnt like them then. :embarrased:

i liked trouble...but i didnt became a huge fan.

however, in my place made me wonder and investigate more about them, the sceintist drove me crazy....i fell in love w/them :D :D :D

thanks AROBTH!!!

i saw yellow on tv when i was about ten and thought nothing really, cos i was like ten, but then like 3 years later i saw all their videos play together on vh1 and fell in love with them. my favourite band in the whole wide world!!!

i worked in a music store when the first came out. we got the promo copy of Parachutes, so i popped it in to see what it was about. i loved them. and i got to keep the promo CD.
