Coldplay... when does it become an obsession?

Featured Replies

I quit an $80' date='000/year job so I can go to more shows and don't have to fight to try and get time off. It's disturbing, I know. :embarrased:[/quote']

since you pretty much have stated how crazy i am(hey, no one likes reruns)

im just going to say that my family is worried for me because of my obsession. my dad understands since is a huge music fan as well(his family is very musical)but my mom...she fears for me. she is afraid i'll be a sad pathetic groupie....she said im crazy enough as it is and my obsession with this band is way over the top(i dont know why she doesnt get mad with my obsession with u2)

she has criticized me for using my money on concert tickets that "valuable stuff", she says i only work because of them(posters, cds, extras) and that i know much more about them than their own wives....coldplay reigns my ipod and whenever i shuffle the songs one of every three is coldplay.. :stunned: i know the lyrics back and forth and even at school im know as that chick who is very artsy, loves u2 and coldplay and is a vegetarian because of them(sort of), the girl ho give a damn about africa and is a know pacifist....

coldplay reigns my life, and they have truly saved my life, they inspire me and tell me that the world is beautiful and not a dreary and cold world...

:)

Does your mom want you to help pay the bills or...? Because working to buy tickets/poster/whatever is no different than the hundreds of other kids who work to buy insanely expensive shoes and purses and gold fronts.

^

   gold fronts!!!! i would look so funny with those!! i guess my mum thinks that music as an obsession isnt very healthy...trust me she is having a fit when i told her i want a telecaster like jonny's !!! :stunned:

well, my daddy helps(and i dont get along with him as much, just music)

Well that's good then! :D

yes...he agreed to take me to the concert on the socond day...which is nearly two hours away... :/

Yep! It's always good to have someone who understands. For me it's flipped around -- my dad rolls his eyes and my mom attends the concerts

But... I don't think something like music is an unhealthy obsession at all... I mean, that's how bands get together, right? It was their love for music that made it happen.

Sigh...

^yep. that's how i feel. she sort of didnt like the fact that i didnt go anywhere without my sketchpad, dont get me wrong, she likes my art, but she doent always agree with the fact that i do abstracts..not real life stuff, every now and then i draw something life-like...and she forgets about the whole thing.

when it comes to music, she loves it, but not as much as i do. and the thing that gets her worried is not only the music itself, but the MUSICIANS...and if you think about it, its sort of true..most of them are drug addicts, drunks, smoke until there's no sunshine and have promiscus lifestyles...so she thinks that by me obssesing over music im emulating or prasising this way of living(if only she knew ho coldplay is...)

My obssession only goes as far as collecting every single bit of music piece by the boys. I bought an 100gig second drive just so I can freely expand and roam torrent sites and the hub all the time trying to find more and more and more stuff. Currently I have about 40 gigs of video/audio...everyone thinks it's crazy but blah, who cares!

Ohhhhhh. Have you told her about how CP are?

^yes...but she doesnt believe me...she is like, chris cannot be that "clean"...its funny! she is learning to accept them...and it has paid off, my granny loves coldplay now! :)

^ awwwwww so adorable!!!!

at least ur obbsession is something positive, not like a drug or something! my family worries for me about my obsession, but it really isnt that big (dont have posters, only 1 single, no coldplay clothing) - its mainly cuz i go on about them for a bit (and i love acting like a hardcore weirdo fan to my family (our nickname for them is "coldies" cuz of my obsession)), and cuz i go on coldplaying.com all the time (but its not just cuz of coldplay, i love chatting on the messageboard!)

but hey, at least none of the coldplay fans are negative! im sure some fans of death metal, etc bands are depressed and all that (not trying to stereotype)

thank god for coldplay!!!

Amen. :D

I have a 500gb external drive!!

- DAN -, you are not alone on this my friend ......i think it´s something that few people can actually feel....the conection that we feel when we listen to coldplay is very strong... and i too play guitar and 99% of the song i play/sing are coldplay´s.... they are amazing !!!! and to apreciate it is the least we can do!! :) :)

I totally understand you guys... Each time I go to a karaoke bar, I have to go up and request a Coldplay song to sing!!! hahaha... I listen to Coldplay when I go to work and when I come home from work... and I listen to them almost every other time. I try to buy the singles when I can... I also spent a lot of money on tickets for the Concert in Ottawa on March 17th 2006! Can't wait!!! :D

Needless to say, my g/f is getting pretty anoyed with my Coldplay "obsession". :(

I've never been to a karaoke bar before...

Mee wanna go, mee wanna go! But I have nobody to go with...

We'd totally rock! God, we better organize something quick! You know, along with that other jaunt we were meant to go on... :wink3:

I've recently memorized the lyrics to The Scientist in reverse. I found out there more to the song backwards than just "ooh ooh ooh oooooh ahh"! I don't think there's a better way to get strange looks in public than to start singing along to "The Scientist(reversed)" while listening to it with your headphones.

I guess Coldplay IS an obsession for me. :D

Coldplay. To some people this word means nothing, and to some this means absolutely everything.

Have you ever sat back and thought how much you like actually like Coldplay? Try it. Are they that band who sung Yellow or an extremely important part of your life that you cannot do without? When was the last time you listened to Coldplay? When was the last time you thought about Coldplay? When does it become an obsession?

I have been thinking about this for quite a while.

I listen to Coldplay everyday. EVERYDAY. I have little or no time to listen to other bands. My girlfriend has a go at me everytime we drive in my car because I ALWAYS have Coldplay in the cd player. She used to think Coldplay were boring, now she knows all the words to Warning Sign... I play guitar. 95% of the time I play my guitar, I am playing something by Coldplay. 99% of the time I am playing something by Coldplay, it is Warning Sign. Coldplay will end up in a conversation I am involved in almost everyday. Coldplay are in my thoughts at least once every hour. Chris Martin is my hero. I went to my local sports store to buy a pair of Adidas (three black stripes) trainers just because he wore them for part of the 2005 tour. They cost £50. I bought them anyway. I am on eBAY everyday looking for something in my Coldplay collection that I do not own. ONLY official releases. I am currently saving up £1000 to bid on an original copy of the Safety EP. I need a car, desposit for my own place... but no, I want a CD with 3 TRACKS for £1000.

So I start to wonder, am I obsessed?

Dan your a very cool Man !!

I think about Coldplay before I go sleep, whilst I sleep I dream about them and as soon as I wake up.... most of the day there is a coldplay tune going though my head... I think most of us on here are beyond obsession... i think its our lifes and those around us lives as well....
