Hey guys. Just watching the latest Austin City Limits show and was interested in which two guitars Jon was using. Think they're very similar but different colours. Went onto the Fender website but couldn't find one similar.

 

Anybody got any ideas?

i seem to always be answering this question! but hey i have one of these guitars so like saying it! :D

its a fender 1972 reissue thinline telecaster. that one's in natural finish (or maple) but he has them in 3 tone sunburst, black and mahogany (ish).

Makes me wonder whether all the people asking this question are going out to buy one.

that's ok. i got one about 2 an half years go and its the best thing ive ever bought. its so beatiful and plays incredibly.

 

get it in three tonesunburst cos it looks best and its the original colour that jonnhad.

hopefully i'll be able to find one somewhere. Do they do any re-issues or do I have to get it second hand?

I also got some Fenders at home..but I guess they are hard to find.. :o

theyre easy to get. just go to a guitar shop and order it in. if u live in london go to denmark street.

and gibson. a gibson 335.

which is the gibson he uses? pic?

He also had a les paul, during some summer shows if i remember correctly.

it is not an Gibson les paul...it's a sort of an Gibson blues guitar!

yeh i know he usually uses gibson 335 in til kingdom come etc but he did use a les paul in the summer open air gigs.

He has a Rickenbacker 12-String that he used to se in In My Place too.

 

And is the Jazzmaster and Vintage Jaguar that he uses Fenders as well? I'm a bit ignorant when it comes to this stuff, but I'm interested in learning.

Someone said he plays a 1972 Re-issue Tele... I was just wondering, I went to see them a few weeks ago in NH and he played a black Fender Thinline and it looked pretty new. Does anyone know if this is a re-issue as well?

 

If so, why does this guy who has tons of cash no doubt play a re-issue? The difference in sound in my opinion is like night and day.
