I'm really liking it. It's completely different than I expected...considering it sounds NOTHING like the Coldplay we know today. I wouldn't have thought it was them until Chris started singing.

 

I just love the way he sings "hygiene" in the song though...it's...completely unexplainable. But in a good way! :lol:

Chris' voice sounds very much like his voice in Such A Rush. That makes them sound very similar.

It is a great song. I know people who heard it 2day and don't like chris's voice. its weired. I think it is amazing, and kinda "raw".

anyway, who listens to what friends say! This song is awesome!

Like most other people who now have it...I was expecting it to be a disaster...but it was awesome...especially the guitar.

Does the guitar riff around 3:34 remind anyone else of U2's Walk On??

 

I think the Edge got a copy of a demo tape from a band he thought was going nowhere and decided to take a bit. Maybe that's why Coldplay didn't want to release it. Can't implicate Edge! :lol:

I don't think they should necessarily record a better version of the same track, I don't think they're very proud of it, and I have a feeling that is especially because of the lyrics. Maybe if they changed the lyrics on it, and used the same instrumentation it would be cool. But I think I'd rather just have it stay the way it is, it just feels more rare and cool.

 

I'm surprised that so many people feel that Ode sounds totally different from the Coldplay they know. To me the sound they have in the song is very much fitting with their style during the Safety EP time, with songs like Such a Rush (as mentioned), No More Keeping My Feet On The Ground and Bigger Stronger. You can also see a natural progression from those tracks into one's on Parachutes, like High Speed, or the Blue Room EP version of Don't Panic.

 

In any case, I was really taken aback by how good the song actually was, just becaues the band had constantly said it was bad !

It's clearly reminiscent of the early Coldplay stuff

I love this song. The melody is great. The beat is great. The hygene is great. Its weird though, everyone keeps saying it doesn't sound anything like Coldplay, but I think it does for some reason, just more raw. I must be dumb or something.

 

I love how Chris' voice sounds even more warbly than normal.
