...for the last single of X&Y, which song would you pick and what would be your concept for the video?

I know I want White Shadows as the last single, and I've got a concept in my head but it's all in bits and pieces, I'm trying to piece it together a bit.

nice topic alyssa :)

if i would choose White Shadows,i would make a similar video to GPASUYF.they should make a story about somebody like in GPASUYF.

in Clocks and In My Place the whole band appears (on x&y same Talk and SOS)

The Scientist's video about Chris (Fix You on x&y,J G & W are also there but the big part of video is about C)

so i think if this tendency continues we will see a very good video hopefully,if it will be White Shadows of course...

SITS should be the next single, if Coldplay follow commercial trends. The video for this has to be a compilation of the gang on tour doing stupid stuff, together with some serious clips... maybe writing lyrics, eating a sandwich etc :wink3:

Square one. Some kind of video, where the man is running somewhere... He wakes up in the morning, than he thinks that he is afraid, he is lonely, he's got a paranoya... Music is getting faster - he starts running, running in a big city. It maybe will look like Belive video by Chemical Brothers, he thinks that someone follows him but he can't find out who... And in the end he finds himself stuck in an empty rooms with no doors...

Well, I made this concept in just 5 minutes! :D I know it's stupid, but it's my first director's work

Definitely low because it's my favorite one off the album!!!!!!!!!!!

And right now the first concept that popped into my head would be a video of some girl maybe in her early or mid 20s living in an apartment in a big city with the band singing very close to where she is like as she drives home from work or something... and you can tell she's looking at things thinking "I could be there, having fun!" but she passes by until the climax of the song when she sees the band playing Low and then immediately she's in with all these people who have like been waiting for her to come and she gets to go up on stage with the band!! and she's all excited cuz she gets to see the band!! (to signify how music makes people happy who feel low) or something :D

oh, no... it shows her somehow having a bad day like... because somebody yells at her or something and then she drives and on her way out she gets stuck in traffic and then she just leaves her car out in the street at the climax after she's been crying and she realizes the band is out there and that's why all the traffic was there and she gets invited up on stage, etc, etc

cool concepts all!

this is all i have so far... after eric tried to pry my idea out of me, lol

okay...

the video 'll be back and white, btw.

i dunno, but "White Shadows" makes me think of a shadow that's not really a silhouette of what you really are... kinda like a fake shadow. Like... when the light shines on a person the light shines straight through since they have no substance, no depth to their character... making a White Shadow...

the vid starts out with this kid--maybe his parents are yelling at him, but he doesn't know why...

"little white shadows blink and miss them..." - the kid will be walking down the street, and for a split second his shadow turns white... kinda symbolizing that he's becoming someone that he doesn't want to be. and "part of a system, a plan..." just emphasises that...

shift to the band, performing in a plain white background, black and white...

"if you ever feel like something's missing--things you'll never understand..." -- about a decade later, the kid's shown being drafted into some army... "little white shadows sparkle and glisten... part of a system, a plan..." -- kid's shown standing in formation with his regiment or something, but he's the only person with a white shadow...

That's awesome, what if the shadow kind of resembled the look of light shining through water, since you had the idea that it meant that the light went right through him. Sort of like that dimmed, streaky, fuzzy light.

Just an idea...I'm a film student so I'm always imagining the imagery of stuff in my head  silly little details.

hey! i'm glad you guys like it! :)

^and yeah! that'd be awesome... nice. :P

here's the rest of what i posted... i hope it's not all down hill from here!

if it sucks, i'm sorry.... lol

"all this noise i'm waking up..." - during the chorus, boom, kid's in battle. :P maybe a trench or something...

"maybe you get what you wanted..." - shift back to the band performing until the start of the next verse...

"when I was a young boy, i tried to listen..." - a few years later, the kid (who's... no longer a kid... maybe 26 or so) is sitting in some office like setting at his job (it's a bit late...). he's not out of the army, but he's now in the reserve, not on duty... he's shown fiddling with some sort of military medal, but there's no expression on the man's face, showing that he's not very proud of it... almost a bit angry at the site of it.

suddenly he's snapped out of his revire by his boss, yelling at him... when his boss leaves, he throws his medal to the ground in frustration, unhappy with his life and all, and folds his arms... but a lady picks it up and hands it back to him... they both stare at eachother a while and share a sort of "love at first site" look.

oh yeah, and all that time he has a white shadow... until he meets the girl...

"all this noise i'm waking up..." shift back to the band performing...

"maybe you get what you wanted..." - the man is now married to the girl he met... it's been maybe three years... they're shown eating dinner with eachother in their dining room... laughing, talking, perfectly contempt... the man no longer has his white shadow...

the phone rings and the man picks it up... as he's talking, his expression quickly turns grim as he hangs his head down and hangs up the phone. his wife stares at him as he nods, his head still down, then she realizes that he's been called back into active duty... close up to the man as he turns to the wall nearby and bangs his fist on it... pan back out, and his shadow is white once again...

shift back to the band, and the last verse is just Chris singing...

"swim out on a sea of faces,

the tide of the human races

oh, an answer now is what I need...

see it in the new sunrise and I

see it break on your horizon

oh, come on love, stay with me..."

alyssa, that whole black and white thing and the band performing ... kinda reminds me of the God Put A Smile Upon Your Face video :D

also the thing with the white shadow ... reminds me of the bloke disappearing in the GPASUYF vid ... :D

great idea though! :)

the sad thing about coldplay videos is, that they're almost all performance videos ...

they should make little movies ... with stories and stuff ...

hey thanks all. :)

alyssa , that's a freakin awesome idea for a video ... I think that would be the best one they've had by far

sure. :P

^and I agree... they have wayyy to many vids where they just perform... it's cool and all, but it's... not that exciting, heh.

and THE HARDEST PART?! I thought that would be the last thing they'd ever choose for as a single... doesn't the band dislike that song?

I had my heart set on White Shadows. :bigcry:

White Shadows:

In an empty shopping complex. The guy from GPASUYF walk around to find anyone but no-one's there except him and Coldplay but he can't see the. He dashes up escalators, ran down the stairs, looks in toilet cubicles, ran into elevators and along corridors at the background with Coldplay playing right in front of the camera.

The Hardest Part:

The band plays the in a lush jungle. Lights filtered through the canopy in thin blinding beams. Simple yet green.

X&Y: The band plays in a labortory wearing lab coats while a professor does experiments in the background. The lab is dim-lit with many light bulb swinging from the ceiling.

Swallowed In The Sea: In each verse, each member acts as a person with different occupation in different scene. First, Chris as a fireman, then Jon as a policeman, then Will as a teacher, then Guy as a lawyer etc. etc.... finally in the last verse they play together as a band.
