i bring it to life one more time

:(

I wrote a poem about this once. It wasn't a good one, but I heard some people walking by talking gossip about some girl who got pregnant and one of the girls said, "she kept it the second time" and it really tore me up.

when it gets down to the nitty gritty, whether or not you believe the child is alive when someone has an abortion what they are saying is the life of that person is worth less than their devotion/dignity.

f which person eric? the aborted baby or the mother that did the abortion?

i'm sorry, i'm not awake enough to understand that :(

i dont think i am either!!!!

f which person eric? the aborted baby or the mother that did the abortion?

I don't know what you're asking but what I was saying was that I overheard a person talking gossip about an abortion someone had.

"she decided to keep it the second time [she got pregnant]" (life to me is worth more than we could imagine. I wrote a poem about a boy who asks his parents how his brother died before he was born.) What this girl effectively did by aborting her first child was: she chose her dignity/devotion over it's life.

ok, sorry... I have to go to bed... I would love to stay but I was supposed to be sleeping @ 11

i still don't get it

even if you were raped or something like that' date=' a life is still a life and it deserves a chace too.[/quote']

woahh... you honestly think that if a woman is raped she should still have the baby? i mean come on carrying a child for 9 months in your womb; going through hell and then having to go through the pains of child birth? for a child you did not set out to have in the first place?

i don't know. i haven't read all the pages of this topic because i'm running short on time but i agree that abortion should be given as an option.

if you are not old enough to be able to take care of the child, you should not have to put yourself through the pains of childbirth. i mean (i wouldn't know) but i don't think every person plans WHEN and WHERE they're going to have sex. it just happens for some people right. it's not like you're going to sit down and analyse all the consequences beforehand. some people just do it and the consequences are made apparent later. you can't be anally retentive and plan absolutely everything in your life and in that case if you are left pregnant and you are uncapable of having a child and raising it accordingly, i think you should be able to have the option of abortion.

adoption may be a good option too, but think of the child. alot of the time they will live their life thinking "why did my parents give me up for adoption? why don't i know who my real parents are?" adoption might be a good option initially, but think of the life of the child, i know i'd hate to be a child put up for adoption because it would only make me feel unwanted, unloved, rejected, a mistake, etc.

take for example: there is a girl in my school who is in the year below me. she is either 15 or 16. one of the two. she is pregnant. she is uncapable of looking after the child and she is way too young. i mean some people make mistakes and don't really think of the consequences, but you can't say people don't make mistakes. what can she do now? well shes pregnant and her parents won't let her have an abortion because it is against catholicism. so now she's marrying this guy next year, dropping out of school, and practically becoming a house wife now.

she's just chucked away her whole life; education wise, and experience wise. she's only 15/16 and now she's already getting married? because of her parents religious beliefs that condemn abortion?

people like this are NOT ready to have a child and the child would not lead a fulfilling life. it's unfair on the child, and unfair on the girl.

i don't want to sound sexist; but... the guy gets away easier with it. he doesn't have to stay at home and breastfeed the child, feed the child, look after it to the extent the mother has to in the beginning stages of its life. they don't have to carry it in it's womb for 9 months. they don't have to go through childbirth and the pains of it. this is what annoys me about popes, etc condemning abortion. they don't understand it to such an extent... i'm trying to steer away from sounding sexist but i think it's inevitable with this point. i apologise.

someone made this point earlier; using a condom and chucking it away with sperm is the same as abortion. and i completely agree. why is it that using a condom and other forms of contraception, including the morning after pill etc are more accepted in today's society as opposed to abortion? it is the exact same thing and it annoys me to think that people will condemn abortion, but not condemn the use of the other.

i have more points but my fingers are sore and i am melting from this heat. i will return later to discuss more.

that person is worth less than their devotion/dignity.

now, I understand sometimes that someone has an abortion to save their life or because the child is going to be a vegetable all its life. I understand those things and in those cases I'm not against an abortion.

i agree with u eric.

in the case bonnie said up there. well, in my opinion, a 15/16 year old knows EXACTELY what she is doing when she has sex (not like 3/4 year olds that jump off a window thinking they could fly). they have sex because they want to. i dont mean to say that when u have sex its all pretty and planned, but if u know the risks of it u can just make the choice of stoping! and trust me, it is ABSOLUTELY possible!

I think that even though the girl is young thats not an excuse to take away her responsibilities. she did it coz she wanted to (uless it was a rape), and she has to deal with the consequences of her actions. otherwise, i think what would happen is ur gonna have a bunch of youg immature girls, having unprotected sex, coz they'll be thinking: "ah, why use any contraceptives if i can just abort if i get preagnant".

if u r too lazy to read all i said what i mean is: im against abortion in those cases that the woman just dont want to deal with the consequences of her own actions.

wow bonnie,nice explanation,i agree 100% with you

I think abortion should be legal, but under very tight restrictions and supervision. I think that a 15-year old who accidentily gets pregnant should not have her chances of a normal healthy life, future and career be ruined by a mistake.

that is a good point Mari...but I am just against it period...

Even in rape cases, it's not the kids fault it happened..so why end it's life?

Why ruin it? If a mom doesn't want a kid, d'you really think she's gonna treat it well?

Well then, that means she is not a good mom, so maybe (like i said before) they should consider other options, compared to just killing it

she woudn't be killing anything, a fetus that has not reached a certain level of development is not a life, it's just a bunch of cells united. Believe me, I studied it this year at school (the stages of pregnancy I mean) and before 4 or 5 weeks it's just a ball of cells

It's not a person while it's still in the womb...in my opinion. I mean, if that was the case, then it could think, breathe, and feed itself on its own.

If abortion was illegal, people would still try to do it anyway in more harmful ways. It was created as a way to prevent unwanted births in a humane, sterile environment for those who choose to take that path. Everyone should have a choice.

Let's face it, a lot of the girls who get pregnant WAY too young are not fit to be mothers, so if you are saying that it is not the child's fault, think about how the child will be raised and then ask whether or not the child would have chose this life. A lot of children born by young girls end up thrown in trashcans, in foster homes, or as targets for abuse and molestation. Why put someone through that when you don't have to?

look at the past, if you believe in evolution what would you tell someone who purposely 100,000,000,000 years ago stepped on a bug that was going to evolve into humans. Wouldn't you say that's murder? It's preventing life from ever happening. There's nothing wrong with stepping on a bug, but that person knew the consequences.

But having children is a life-long committment that two people (or even one in some cases) have to agree on. If I girl gets pregnant accidentally or by not using protection, she is not committing to anything, she is stuck with a child...therefore, she is not ready for the responsibility of a child.

And what if the parents of the girl disown her or make her life a living hell for getting pregnant? Then what should she do? Here she is, stuck with a baby and no support. That isn't fair for either her or the baby.
