June 24, 200619 yr actually weed is NOT addictive by any means, physically that is. There is nothing in weed that makes your body say "I HAVE TO HAVE THIS" such as cigarettes, alcohol, cocain, heroin etc. Those all have physically addicting substances in them, like nicotine for cigarettes. The nicotine MAKES your body need it to survive. Marijuana is completely mental. At any time, a pot smoker can decide "you know what, i dont want to smoke weed any more" and just quit like that. With no withdrawal or anything, because there is nothing in weed that MAKES you need it. Thats why i believe it is much more harmless than alcohol or cigarettes. look at the facts....ill compare it with some legal substances.. 1.Marijuana, its not physically addicting(some people do it too much though) Cigarettes, Makes your body NEED it to survive Alcohol, Same story, alcohol is very addictive 2.Marijuana, the worst thing about it, is you are putting smoke into your lungs, but that is the same as smoking oregano or chives, because it CANNOT physically kill you. Prolonged use WILL NOT kill you, it cannot kill you, when used appropriately of course (IE not driving while smoking) Cigarettes, PROVEN TO KILL HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE Alcohol, ADDICTION KILLS PEOPLE, ALCOHOL POISONING KILLS PEOPLE, AND DRUNK DRIVING KILLS PEOPLE so you see, it is actually MUCH more harmless than it is made out to be here in the USA mental dependency is also a big factor, but not as bad as physical dependency, i think. and you're right--marijuana doesn't have any physically addicting chemicals... But yeah, pot isn't as bad as cigarrettes, I think. Less chemicals, carcinogens, meh. Most of the kids I know either: 1.) Hate pot once they try it 2.) Love it, and want more they're generally stupid enough to keep giving into their appetite for more weed, and they smoke more and more and get into heavier stuff. some people can smoke moderately, but people I know are out of control. meh. i'm the type of person that gets addicted and attached to things if i like them, so, i'm not going to try it. i'll try not to, at least, heh.

I agree with this...specially the last sentence. Once the individual decides that they do like it...it can become somewhat of an addiction, if they have no self-control. And they can also (after much exposure) begin to lose their high from simple forms of marijuana. So they turn to something like ... (say 'primo'....marijuana laced with cocaine). This could lead to an addiction for sure. it's just a matter of self-control.

June 25, 200619 yr I'd agree with that...people just send these messages that are bloated with ignorant assumptions. Like that you get highly addicted the first time. No. Usually, younger kids who get into it..just do it for the crowd and social scene and make it seem even, like they are worse off than the drug can make you to be. They aren't really addicted to the drug, per say, it's the fact that now they can be "in" ..I know it's a crappy explaination...but I think if you get it ..you get it.
June 25, 200619 yr Author Weed definately isnt addictive. For 6 months I was on the stuff constantly, everyday, about 15-20 joints per day (Ridiculous yeah?). This was in another country, I knew that when I came back home to Ireland (Which was two weeks ago) I wouldnt be able to smoke it around my house and my parents, so I just had to stop. And I thought I'd have a real problem with this, and althought I miss it a little bit, I definately dont have urges like you do with other addictive drugs. Which is another reason why weed, is so nice and friendly :nice: As for "weeders" bringing it to the lamest of concerts, that would be pretty much because they bring it everywhere. Not just to get stoned for the lightshow, but its just part of the lifestyle of constantly skinning up joints, they do it all the time, at concerts, in clubs, in the car, its not always about getting stoned. If they are waiting for a concert to begin, then why not?
June 25, 200619 yr Drugs are for losers, my younger sister started off by smoking weed, and ended up with a really bad cocaine problem, I will not go into details but it was not nice at all.
August 30, 200619 yr Caffeine does it all for me baby... Seriously I'm addicted to Coca Cola- :idea2: Do not like alcohol at all, is more like a social thing for parties and stuff... I haven't smoked anything, find it very disgusting. Haven't tried any hard drug and neither feel like trying. Stunning your mind with chemicals isn't really a good thing. People might think is about controlling themselves but it really isn't, their body get used to it. Sometimes even "harmless" drugs like marijuana can be a may be a 'gateway' drug to more harmful substances like heroin and cocaine... just give it the time. I'm addicted to Coca-Cola too! And tea...but I don't drink or smoke or do drugs...contrast to what some kids do at my school these days... :\ Candy and caffeine is good enough for me!! :D

There is a lot of peer pressure in my year to drink but it just doesn't interest me at all. If all my friends want to get pissed, wreck their health and get into trouble thats fine with me but that isn't exactly my idea of fun. Drinking is also catching on with younger kids now like 12/13yr olds. Many kids (mainly girls) in my sisters class go out every weekend and drink and their parents have no idea about it. Thankfully people who smoke pot and weed etc are considered "scum" here by everybody so it's not popular. My great-uncle is absolutely addicted to coffee. He has at least 20 cups...and thats just before midday! Anyways to the point, I don't do drugs and I don't understand why people do drugs. That is all.

August 31, 200619 yr I'm not addicted to anything. I had "some" wine once, and that's when I realized that I should never drink alcohol. It scared me to death that I could end up an alcoholic, because I remembered that it ran in my family. So I decided that I'd never drink again. Okay... I hate needles, I hate smoke, I hate taking pills, I hate stuff going up my nose... I'm pretty sure I'm not going to be doing drugs anytime soon. :P

But I don't think Chocolate has ever torn families apart so it's ok...lol. I smoke cigarettes and occasionally drink a bit too much. But I'm not into drugs. Pot puts me to sleep so it's a wast of drugs,lol. And the other stuff out there is just too dangerous. I tried almost everything when I was younger...not heroin though...and eventually I just outgrew it...it kills and I don't want to die!! But the other kids are good, I guess. There's the couple of kids who probably do it in secret. All the popular people flaunt the fact that they smoke and drink and do drugs. Ugh it sickens me.

They think they're cool, but they're the exact opposite annie- 3 pm would be 10 pm here, that's doable :D

August 31, 200619 yr I started smoking in high-school because I thought it was cool and rebellious...and after years of couging, spending ridiculous amounts of money and now having to smoke out in the rain or cold because you can't smoke in bars in Kingston...I can assure you IT is sooooo not cool!!

August 31, 200619 yr Same, I never understood how 'cool' it was. It always seemed so stupid to me. And my dad used to smoke, so I have seen it around as a kid.. I still drink Shirley Temples...:P They're fruity and refreshing.
August 31, 200619 yr have u tried to quit? A couple of times, but it really is as hard as everyone says it is...and you eat s o much when you're not smoking. I'm finally happy with my figure so I don't want the weight gain!! That's a pretty sad reason to keep smoking, but it's true!! I'm thinking of trying again to quit when I'm back from Dngland.
