Gotta say, I've never fancied myself a rap fan at all. I never identified with the music.

 

But I have a lot of respect for Kanye and what he does, as well as Jay-Z. I never complain when Kanye comes on the radio. That's a big compliment from someone who usually bitches about that music genre!

yes thank you :kiss: i like to hear what the artist have to say about their work it gives an insight into their songs and gives the fans a perspective of where they are coming from :) It really suprised me that he had such eclectic taste i really respected him for that- he got the producer that produced Fiona Apples album and he wanted to have a sound like portishead. It was really cool that the two producers just chatted about music :cool: oh and i didn't know KW used to be a producer :D

Of course, I hate that too. It's completely baseless. Rap might not be my particular taste, but I'm not going to insult it or the people who like it. I mean, there are some songs and artists who I can't stand (no one pops into mind at the moment), but that goes for ALL genres. I'm all for trying something out, no matter how out of character. I won't insult a band/artist if I haven't really given them a good listen to. A lot of people just take the easy way out and spit out the same cliches they hear all over the place. It pisses me off to no ends.

 

Kanye's got some really great songs, I can tell he'll be around for awhile. And I don't have a problem with that, as long as he continues to be as innovative and interesting as he is now.

Yes but some have really hard hitting words- which not everyone may like.

i agree, i used to abhore metal then a metal/goth band popped up that i really liked and i gave it a chance wow! now i'm going to see them live.

Jay-Z's long awaited, cleverly titled forthcoming album, The Blueprint 3.0 has received a release date: September 11th. September 11th is a date with enormous resonance for Jay-Z and all New Yorkers, for on September 11th, 2001 the world was rocked by the release of the original Blueprint.

 

Jay-Z’s forthcoming disc is his first since parting ways with long-time label Def Jam, where the veteran rapper-person served a rocky, controversial stint as President. It will be released on Jay-Z’s Roc Nation and distributed through Epic. It will reportedly feature production by Kanye West and some other dudes.

 

The Billboard article announcing the release date contains the following unintentionally hilarious sentence: “Sam Crespo, VP of Rap Promotions at Atlantic Records who goes by the twitter name TheCrespo, first confirmed the news in a Twitter posting yesterday afternoon. The post was removed hours later. A MissInfo.tv blog posting also revealed the details but was subsequently removed.”
