February 11, 200620 yr an_cat, the only thing in which i don't agree with u is your wish for chris to become more bono, i wouldn't like that in some ways..it's ok if you think that in a way that chris makes even more powerful lyrics (like u2 did in sunday bloody sunday, one etc.) in that way..to express all the things in even more extreme ways and that's all. as for the rest... :)

February 11, 200620 yr well,i think neither of these albums is SUPER (no how to... nor x&y ),but i really have doubts that U2's last one is better than X&Y...in my opinion they're on the same level...or very close to each other, but i would choose x&y Grammy's critics already announced their opinions... what are you think about this? Not U2's best album, I actually prefer X & Y as an album Don't get me wrong I do love U2 :wink3:

I should clear up what I meant ;) I mean, I don't want Chris to BECOME Bono, because that would detract from Bono's.... specialness...? You know what I mean! But I do think reaching for that level of personal thought and emotion in the lyrics would be a VERY good thing. Chris' lyrics are a bit... lacking, which I don't mind at all. But if he could produce something on par to 'Acrobat' or 'One Tree Hill' or well.. the list can go on and on. If he could write like that, or aspire to, then that would make me very happy. In that respect, I wish he would become more like Bono. I'm not sayin' he should start rockin' the shades and cowboy hats. ;)
February 12, 200620 yr ok well instead of the whole dick thing, ill say this. u2 is full of old men who keep trying to remake their older hits and it doesnt work, so the edge should just stop with his delay effects and try to be dependant on some nice wholesome music. i did like u2 but they are so over rated.
February 12, 200620 yr or here is another view... these men look alive and happy These men look old and also like they are trying too hard coldplay may look up to u2 but they are old men who wanna play rock. theyr time is up and they know it.
February 12, 200620 yr Actually, I'd say Edge and B look more alive in that picture than Coldplay does... lmfaooooo Dude, I saw U2 four times in concert this past year. I think they're pretty fucking alive. So don't give me that bullshit, ok? Because you don't know what the hell you're talking about.
February 12, 200620 yr and ive been to coldplay, theyr fucking crazy live, ask anyone in this forum. so cut the bullshit of this thread. u2 sucks and if u wanna bitch about it and brag about how good they are, go to the u2 forums with all the other fags.
February 12, 200620 yr Omg coldplay_97! :embarrased: You may not like U2 but don't insult them! You have to admit that being their age and still doing tours and selling out shows and being remembered is not easy. Those guys have amazing drive for staying around so long. And I don't know you but they look pretty alive to me! We can only hope that Coldplay gets that far.
February 12, 200620 yr Author I started this thread because i was curious what people think about these albums.we share our minds here in normal way...so please stop swearing!!! btw! U2 fans chose Coldplay as "best act in the world" (u2 doesn't count) or something like that...i'm not a U2 fan neither, but don't think we need to be "animals" here

But I still admire them greatly for still going so strong after all this time. Like the Rolling Stones too. Its amazing. coldplay_97, I think you went a bit too far. There's no need to be so rude to Danielle either. Telling her to 'go to the u2 forums with all the other fags' is just SLIGHTLY out of order in my opinion.
February 12, 200620 yr Calm down sweetheart. I've also seen Coldplay. And I love Coldplay. And I love U2. And I'm not a "fag". I don't respect people who call people names through a monitor. I really don't. You immediately assume that I'm not a Coldplay fan because I'm defending U2, well guess what: You're dead wrong. I was a Coldplay fan BEFORE being a U2 fan. I listen to both almost equally. Both elevate my soul higher than any other band. To be respected, you should voice your opinion and stance on a subject eloquently. Or you're not going to get any kind response back. Back up your opinions rather than just saying they're "old farts". Ok, tell me how similiar HTDAAB is to the 'Boy' album. Make a relation between the lyrical content of 'Pop' to 'War'. Explain to me exactly where the delay effects are in Bomb. Then contrast this to the guitar work in 'Achtung Baby'. Why don't you try doing that instead of just blindly insulting a band I can tell you don't have much knowledge about. I'm tired of people insulting these four men. I AM NOT SAYING U2 IS BETTER THAN COLDPLAY. Ok??? I feel the use of caps is necessary here, because obviously the fact that I'm a member of a Coldplay community isn't enough to portray this. If you're going to insult Bono, then tell me you've met him. And then tell me exactly what he did to you to deserve your hate. Because I've stood within two feet from the man for over 2 hours, and he's never done anything to portray arrogance or cruelty. Again: It's an unfounded opinion. Yeah, they're old. Coldplay's getting up there too. So what are you going to say about them in 20 years? Old farts? Hate their old stuff? Hate their new stuff because they're "trying to make rock"? Good for you. Then you never liked them in the first place. If you still love them in 20 years, then you're a true fan. And that's what a lot of U2 fans are. True fans, because they still love them after 25 years. Will we all still be here on Coldplaying when we're 40+? Let's hope so. So stop playing the age card and get some real evidence to U2's suckiness. EDIT: Oh, and I forgot to add: Touche! :D
February 12, 200620 yr u2 has "some" good music that i will actually listen too, but over the past 4-5 years of listening to them i tended to steer away because alot of it sounded the same to me, as an example from htdaab ; crums from your table, miracle drug, beginnings sound almost alike. i learned how to play them both on guitar and they do sound very similar. i did blow up quite abit and im sorry for that, but im just sharing my opinion. i dont like u2 as much anymore because to me, its not like their old music. this new stuff sounds like a new u2 that ive never even heard. my friends have been to u2 concerts and they said they were brilliant and have been to coldplay and said they were brilliant. lots of people like both bands, but if i had to choose 1 i would say coldplay. each have their own styles but coldplay just seem s more fun to me and i can actually sit down and listen to all 3 albums peacfully. i dont feel i can do that with u2 anymore. Back to the topic, which cd was better.... X&Y: coldplay showed that parachutes could sound more acoustic with piano. ROBTTH had both acoustic and rock and X&Y had a bit over everything but a bit more "rock", HTDAAB sounded very blah to me the last couple times. i think ive tried to make my point as peacefully as i could

February 12, 200620 yr coldplay_97, thank you. I accept your apology for blowing up, but I hope you know that that was not a way to portray it. If you first said what you just typed, then I would have completely left you alone. I might not agree, but that's ok! People like you, though, do make me want to leave this place and go to Interference and hang out with the "U2 fags". Because sometimes I can't stand how immature people can be around here. That still ticks me off, what you said. Got to say... But I'll forget about it and over look it. And hey, one less U2 fan to compete with for tickets when they go on sale, eh? I almost feel happy when I hear people aren't U2 fans.  lmfao kelli mmmmmmm
February 12, 200620 yr Erm...dumb moment here....what does 'pwnage' stand for? Everyone says it but I dont know :embarrased:
February 12, 200620 yr hey ! dont worry cause i know i said sum wrong stuff and i thank you for your applologie, but i was one of those people in line for tickets on this tour lol, i couldnt get any though haha. id still love to see them but i just am not crazy about theyr newer stuff. haha :D
February 12, 200620 yr hey, but radioactive coldplayer, stop winning the damn lottery lol, how many tickets do you buy hahahaha.

February 12, 200620 yr As live acts, i can't see that the two are comparable, U2 are, to my eyes and ears, a live act way and above anything else that is around in modern music and has been for over a decade. Don't get me wrong, Coldplay's shows are one of the best gigs I've been to but there is just nothing else that has come close. Anyway, not here to discuss that, here to answer the topic question. In my opinion, yes, HTDAAB is a better album than X&Y. It's not U2 at their best, but in my opinion the b-sides to AROBTTH would have made a better album than X&Y. By the way, that doesn't mean I think X&Y is appalling, I just prefer songs such as Crests Of Waves and One I Love to the best on X&Y. Actually, my favourite song from 'the X&Y era' is Gravity and even that was written under the AROBTTH influences. HTDAAB can well be compared to ATYCLB, the two have a very similar style, but I feel this is a far stronger album song-for-song. Just quickly, my favourite songs off each are quite comparable if i were to give /10 ratings to each but, if I'm being honest, not even my favourite X&Y song, 'Til Kingdom Come, comes close to either Miracle Drug or Original Of The Species, my favourite songs from How To....
