A) Chris is SUCH a tease...he knew that saying that on Radio1 would make the fans all excited. Thats why he said it in the way he did, right at the end of the interview. Cheeky monkey. :lol:

 

B) I also think he said it in the 1st place to give us fans something to be excited about because they are going to be out of the limelight for a while.

My bet is that they are going to take a long break from touring and doing loads tof press stuff so they can concentrate on doing two albums in quick succession before they start doing shows again. It would make sense after such a long tour - it'll be a year and a half by the time they finish this one... If they did another too soon it would get boring for them/the fans.

 

It's good for the fans in the sense that the more time off the road, the more new music we have to look forward to :)

Top Story: Coldplay NOT Splitting Up. Fact

 

Following Chris Martin’s statement about Coldplay disappearing from the public eye at the Brits last night, the bands record company have issued a statement explaining about the band’s future.

 

They may have won the Best Album and Best Single awards at the Brits last night (February 15) but Coldplay caused one of the biggest disturbances of the event when they hinted that they were going to split off.

 

"This means so much to us, especially now," singer Chris Martin said when recieving the award, "It's going to be a few years before you see us again."

 

"People are fed up with us - and so are we." He continued, "You won't see us at one of these for many, many years."

 

Obviously the tabloid press had a bloody field day, the Daily Mirror especially, with the paper claiming the band were planning on splitting up for good.

 

However, a statement issued to Xfm from Coldplay’s record label Parlophone has completely denied the story. It reads

 

"Coldplay are categorically not splitting up. They are on the road until July, when their 16 month X&Y World Tour ends in Japan. They will then be having a well deserved rest before working on their fourth album."

The guys can take as much time as they need to come out with their next album or to tour again, in my opinion. They've certainly been working their butts off touring and deserve a break, and it's their creative process to come up with their next album, so who am I to judge how long that takes? BUT......It's just scary to keep hearing these rumors that they're unhappy with each other and want to break up. Then when Chris says "you won't be seeing us for a very long time, and we mean it," it does make your heart kind of stop for a minute. The problem is celebrities always deny, deny, deny rumors, and then so many of them turn out to be true (Anniston-Pitt-Jolie for example). I just hope the guys are still happy with each other and with their work. I can see how the negativity that has been hounding them after releasing X&Y may be getting to them...... All these rumors about Coldplay splitting up are definitely getting to me! The very thought makes me :cry:

Well I am not really worried just more confused. How can they say they are taking a break and also putting out a 4th album all next year? The only thing I can thing of is if they put out a greatest hits album, in which case it is already mostly written. I think it's just Chris speaking out again, you never can trust what he says, I mean if they really do take time I know it will only be for a little while becuase all 4 of them have this insane drive to be the best band in the world and put out the best music. I think Chris is just a little upset after not winning a grammy, and now determined to work harder than ever to put out their best album. remember they said the first 3 albums were a trilogy, so its only fitting they do a greatest hits and then move on with the next one! This uneasyness will make me have to take in the concerts on this tour even more, may be the last ones for a while. :cry:
