Coldplay’s record label Parlophone has completely denied the story.

 

"Coldplay are categorically not splitting up. They are on the road until July, when their 16 month X&Y World Tour ends in Japan. They will then be having a well deserved rest before working on their fourth album."

I'm sure other people have said already this is crap...but it so is, it's been misinterpreted. Even The Mirror must have retracted the story for later editions, because it wasn't in the version that I bought...

 

Loving their picture on the Coldplayer...they're so totally not splitting up. Watch their BRITs performance when someone puts it in the media section, they LOVE what they do, they're just taking a break to write the new album once the tour's over. If you'd been touring for nigh on two years, you'd be going on hiatus too!

If they are breaking up, it is a very good time to do it I think.

I think they deserve a nice long break...but I must admit when Chris said they would be gone a long time...I was like.."what?" coz a long time could be like five years...I would miss them WAY too much!!!

I didn't look at all of the 11 pages so far, I just wanna say that Chris' statement was definitely worrying.. I mean, I don't believe they'd break up or anything, but I guess I couldn't wait sooo long for another album and tour :rolleyes: But on the other hand, I think the guys definitely need a break, especially Chris, with a second baby coming soon! He's got a family now and he shouldn't be on the road that much..

 

Anyway, it's just a typical Chris situation again - he should have known that tabloids are gonna see this as a big Break Up Story, damn it :lol:

well he is trying to focus on his family probably...gwenyth's got another kid to punch out and that one's gonna spice things up a bit....so yeah this seems predictable.

and everyone has to remember they all have families, not just chris!

Its called a tabloid peeps. Yeah maybe chris said that they are taking a long break, but he probably means that after the second leg of the tour they will work on the next cd in time. take two or three years for the next one. sad but true. lots of big bands do this. nothing to worry about i don't think that it means they are breaking up i think they are just taking time to make the next album and take some time to themselves. hey it took almost three years for x&y from a rush.

BRIT winners Coldplay have assured their fans they AREN’T splitting up — despite reports claiming they are.

 

Singer Chris Martin sparked panic at the awards bash in Earls Court, West London, when he joked: “People are fed up with us.”

 

But the band — who won Best Album and Single — last night issued a statement insisting they are staying together.

 

A spokesman said: “Coldplay are not quitting. They are on the road until July, when their 16-month X&Y World Tour ends in Japan. They will then continue working on new material.”

 

And at a Brits aftershow party Chris told The Sun the band merely wanted a break before going back into the studio.

 

Chris, 29, said: “We’ve been working solid promoting the album and we need a rest. We’re having a break and then we’ll come back. We’ve already written half of a new album and it will be f****** brilliant.

 

“I think it’s good to go away and then come back again.”

 

Coldplay flew to Germany yesterday morning to start promoting their forthcoming single Hardest Part — out in April.

 

The band are then going back to America on tour before moving on to Australia and Japan.

But speaking exclusively to his favourite showbiz column later, Chris tried to clear things up. He told us: "I suppose everyone thinks we're jammy bastards after winning two awards. After we won I thought 'we must have paid someone a lot of money'."

 

Chris insisted the band's retreat from the front line was not permanent, before making his bizarre fox-in-the-hole reference.

 

He then admitted: "It's three in the morning - maybe I'm not making much sense! So you'd better work out what that means on your own."

 

Chris is expected to spend more time with wife Gwyneth Paltrow and daughter Apple. A second child is due in spring.

 

But a source close to the star told us last night: "The band is Chris's passion, but they've been in each other's pockets on the road for 16 months touring the X&Y album.

 

"They think an extended break will do them all good."

 

A spokesman for the band said: "Coldplay are not quitting. They are touring until July and will then continue work on new material."

i came to this forum so distressed, it was on the back page of our morning paper! I got SO scared. The title was "Coldplay- THE END??" I almost cried...

 

you guys are really comforting, but i really hope it's true.

I've never been at a coldplay concert and i'll be reallllllly upset if it takes them a whole decade before they tour again
