No, you won't find a picture of it in this thread, but! What would YOU want it to have?

 

Parachutes, AROBTTH, and X&Y have done well with simple covers and maybe a change is in need for this 4th one? Or maybe stick with what they do best with the simple? Who knows, you decide.

 

You don't have to go crazy. Just be like "They should bring back the globe but this time, make it blue!" or something like that.

 

Personally, I think they should put a Piano because I heard that they're not gonna have piano on the new album. Gasp I know.

I say they should employ the talents of a respected (or at least good) artist that is a 'real' fan of the band. Maybe even a secret contest with the winner not even knowing he/she has won until the release.

They are a big fan of cover art, and as we know, use the theme for the album on all their singles from that album.

From Parachutes to X&Y they started with a sort of natural theme, like a theme of geography and nature and their cover art was all photo manipulated.

AROBTTH covers were much more abstract, used pencil art and was generall more delicate.

Last X&Y art has been the most explicit in its meaning. It has focussed on simple computer animation, linked to a code that we all know now. The emphasis of this art seems to be on contrast in simple statements (there are two sides, color vs. black and white, all contrast, in expressing a single word, like talk, or fix).

 

All three seem to share a theme of understanding relativity, perspective and beauty (all refelcted in the actual content of the albums as well).

However, these are all part of a trilogy, as the band has stated, and therefore future art work will probably reflect a new theme...

 

anyways, that's enough analysis for now ..

Stick with the simple complexity thing, but something that'll be remembered, nothing flashy, but that stands out.

 

I'm not sure WHAT they should put on it, but I'm sure whatever they come up with will be great. =D

I like the idea of them doing a self-titled album and having a blank background. just the name "Coldplay" in the middle.

I don't know why, buy I'm imagining something like a plain black background, with a single line coming down from the top in a narrow curve (A very rough line, looking like it had been drawn by a child or something) and at then a large, abstract spash of color. And then the singles having similar designs.

i like the idea of a fan designing it...i'm available if you need me (if they'll even see this )

all of their previous albums featured one single peice of art, centred on a plain background of one colour. I really hope they stick to this style.

They've never put their photos on the covre and I hope they wont in the future.Anyway,it depends of a name of the album.I hope its "How You See The World" and than I want cover to be smth weird in blue-grey colours.

No,it would be too simple...I wanna see on their cover something weird and ununderstandable

No more codes please! (I don't think they would use codes because that is X&Y and not the new album...but anyway) :wink2:
