May 12, 200323 yr An article out of The Mirror: MADGE SNUB TO TRIBUTE Stars warned not to approach her She doesn't stay to see them play Despite some tough competition from J-Lo in the strop stakes, Madonna has proved once again she is the biggest diva around. There we were thinking her British husband Guy Ritchie had calmed her down but Madge still has her moments. The 44-year-old mother-of-two was honoured last week in Paris with a tribute show. Performers such as Blue, Tina Arena and top French pop acts were roped in a week before and each given a Madonna song to rehearse for the big night on Wednesday. But at the concert - to celebrate her 20th year in music and the release of her 10th album - she upset the other performers with her petulant behaviour. The bands were told they must not leave their dressing rooms once Madonna was in the venue. If they did bump into her, they were told under no circumstances were they to talk to her. Our source says: "It was outrageous. Here were these bands paying tribute. But they were effectively told to shut themselves away from view and not bother her. "They were furious at the way they'd been treated. Madonna just didn't want to know. Why invite them to do a tribute concert when you don't even want to acknowledge their existence? "It's not like they were crazed fans who were going to attack her. Blue weren't even going to bother her for her autograph. "No one can understand why she made such a fuss. It was such a stuck-up thing to do." But it gets worse. Once Madonna had finished her set in front of the 200 guests including her French pals Jean-Paul Gaultier, film director Luc Besson and designer Philippe Starck, she didn't even hang around to watch the others. "These bands spent time and energy learning her material. What's the point when she wasn't interested?" adds our source. "They were told Madonna would thank them personally afterwards but needless to say that didn't happen either. She cleared off before the end without so much as a smile. "She may have been in the business 20 years but you'd have thought she might have learned some manners along the way." Madonna indulged in similarly bizarre behaviour at the gig she performed at the HMV store in London's Oxford Street on Friday. Despite only performing seven songs, the star - who was 90 minutes late - insisted her dressing room be filled with lillies, scented candles, fruit and bowls of red liquorice. In an interview with Jo Whiley to be aired on Radio 1 today, Madonna revealed that her favourite band is Coldplay, led by her pal Gwyneth Paltrow's boyfriend Chris Martin. "He's great. I think he's incredibly talented," she gushed. Perhaps if Coldplay had played at her tribute gig she might have stayed to watch.
May 12, 200323 yr Oooh so lets blame Coldplay as the inspiration for Madonna's embarassing new material, yay!
May 12, 200323 yr Madonna was never that good anyway, and totally past her peak now regardless. I mean American Life? I'd rather watch Jay Leno....
May 12, 200323 yr I lovvve how Madonna just mentions Chris as being talented. Like there isn't 3 other memebers in Coldplay. Whatever.
May 12, 200323 yr boy madonna really bugs me. she's never been any more than a novelty act, but if she can create enough controversy, people will keep buying her shit records. plus she's completely full of herself and thinks she's actually relevent in some way to music. needless to say, reading that article didn't improve my opinion of her any.
May 12, 200323 yr I lovvve how Madonna just mentions Chris as being talented. Like there isn't 3 other memebers in Coldplay. Whatever. I was thinking that too..but apparently the conversation wasn't primarily on CP music it was on the Gwyneth and Chris' relationship. Apparently she was giving Gwyneth her approval- for whatever it's worth.
