1. Coldplay - A Rush Of Blood To The Head

i think that all my comments aren't necessary. it's for sure the best coldplay album and also my favourite album of all times. all songs are brilliant and just overwhelming. that's why i can't pick favourite tracks.

2. Pearl Jam - Ten

i'm actually not much into grunge bands but this one and especially this record is amazing.

favourites: Black, Alive (live), Jeremy, Once, Why Go

3. Tool - Aenima

i first thought this album was crap ... didn't like the sound and everything. it was so hard to listen to this band because it's very strenuous but if you once got to it ... it's so catchy ... i love tool and i think that Maynard James Keenan is the best singer in the entire world!!!

favourites: H., Aenima, Stinkfist, Eulogy, Third Eye

4. Coldplay - Parachutes

i used to like this coldplay album the best but then i discovered my love for AROBTTH. but this album still is good (much better than other band's records). it's very emotional and dreamy ... i can't name favourite tracks

5. A Perfect Circle - Thirteenth Step

a perfect circle's best album.

faves: Blue, The Package, Weak And Powerless, Gravity, The Outsider

6. MetallicA - ... And Justice For All

faves: One, The Shortest Straw, Harvester Of Sorrow, Blackened

7. Arctic Monkeys - Whatever People Say, That's What I'm Not

faves: When The Sun Goes Down, I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor, Still Take You Home, A Certain Romance, The View From The Afternoon

8. A Perfect Circle - Mer De Noms

faves: Judith, Rose, The Hollow, Brena, Magdalena, 3 Libras, Orestes

9. Keane - Hopes And Fears

faves: Somewhere Only We Know, Your Eyes Open, Everybody's Changing, This Is The Last Time

10. Tool - Lateralus

faves: Lateralus, Parabol/Parabola, Schism, Disposition, Ticks And Leeches

sorry~ , i'm not in the mood to write the other albums' comments +_+

1Foo Fighters (Self-Titled): this album is what i listen to when i'm feeling depressed, or when I wanna listen to some good music.

2Coldplay - A Rush of Blood to the Head: introduced me to my favourite band

3The Living End - State of Emergency: Bin out for like 2 weeks and already one of my favourite albums.

4Foo Fighters - The Colour and Shape

5Coldplay - Parachutes

6Wolfmother (self-titled)

7The Living End - Modern Artillery

8AC/DC - Back in Black

Thats all I can think of right now. ;)

somehow, i can't see a Coldplay album not winning this ;)

mine:

1. U2 - The Joshua Tree (stunning piece of work, the first 5 songs take you through every emotion in the known universe, and there are still tracks as good as One Tree Hill and Exit on the second half. Better than sliced bread. Best track: Running To Stand Still)

2. U2 - Achtung Baby (a reinvention as bold as KidA but far better tunes. Some superb live songs backed up by probably the best live show ever seen. Pointing to the genious of One may be cliche, but it's a well-worn one for a reason, enfored greater by the song's live appeal and additions (an_cat, amongst others, must know the extra verse) Best track: One)

3. Manic Street Preachers - The Holy Bible (Richie Edwards twisted genious comes through without the slightest hint of subtlety in an album that, by far, out-In Utero's In Utero. So arrogant it hurts. I prefer listening to Everything Must Go but have come to appreciate this more. Best track: Of Walking Abortion)

4. Coldplay - A Rush Of Blood To The Head (probably my musical favourite of most albums, some beautiful melodies and composition with some epic songs such as The Scientist and Amsterdam. Best track: Amsterdam)

5. Led Zeppelin - [untitled] (The best of the Led Zeppelin bunch that was at its strongest between III and Houses Of The Holy. Even excluding Stairway To Heaven, this is a fantastic record, including many of my favourite rock songs such as Rock & Roll and When The Levee Breaks. The best document of a golden age. Best track: Stairway To Heaven)

6. Radiohead - The Bends (I am a late convert to Radiohead, for it was little over a year ago that something finally 'clicked' in me that see the beauty of songs like Fake Plastic Trees and Sulk. It was the b-sides and heavier songs, such as Just, that finally made me see what everyone else had done for ages and I haven't looked back. Best track: Fake Plastic Trees)

7. Manic Street Preachers - Everything Must Go (another huge stylistic change, this one enforced more than those undergone by U2 and Radiohead, here is an album that has none of the pretention and arrogance of their earlier work and ends with my favourite of all Manics songs, No Surface All Feeling. This album lacks everything that made The Holy Bible great yet remains superb, also containing Design For Life, the song I see as the My Generation of my generation. Best track - No Surface All Feeling)

8. Muse - Showbiz (I find it really hard to pick between the three of Muse's albums as each of them has a seperate element that somehow captures their live grandeur, but this one contains my two favourite Muse songs, Cave and, more importantly, the explosive title song. Best track: Showbiz)

9. Led Zeppelin - III (the 'other side' of early Led Zeppelin, and the best camp-fire album there's ever been. This one, more than the others to me, endears Jimmy Page's wizardry by stripping the band of their epic and heavy sounds and creating one of the most intimate records in my collection. Best track: Bron-Y-Aur Stomp)

10. Wilco - A Ghost Is Born (whilst missing much of the Radiohead-ness of Yankee Hotel Foxtrot, A Ghost is born beats that album as it contains my favourite trio of Wilco's songs, Handshake Drugs, Muzzle Of Bees and the behemoth that is At Least That's What You Said. Pushed Turin Brakes' Optimist LP into 11th on the novelty factor, this album is mainly let down by I'm A Wheel and The Late Greats. Best track: At Least That's What You Said

1 - Ocean Colour Scene - Moseley Shoals

2 - Manic Street Preachers - The Holy bible

3 - Manic Street Preachers - Everything must go

4 - Oasis - be here now

5 - Oasis - standing on the shoulders of giants

6 - Kraftwerk - Autobahn

7 - The beatles - sgt. peppers

8 - The Beatles - The Beatles (aka white album)

9 - Radiohead - Kid A

10 - The Smiths - The Queen is Dead

1. REM - New Adventures In Hi-Fi

2. U2 - Achtung Baby

3. Queen - Queen II

4. Coldplay - X&Y

5. REM - Document

6. A-ha - Hunting High And Low

7. U2 - Joshua Tree

8. Queen - A Night At The Opera

9. Pink Floyd - Dark Side Of The Moon

10. Coldplay - A Rush Of Blood...

1. Bruce Springsteen - Darkness on the Edge of Town - His best album… dark, brooding, full of anguish...absolutely brilliant. The Boss at his very best.

2. Bruce Springsteen - Born to Run - An obvious choice...for obvious reasons. That's why it's obvious...'cause it's good. :D

3. The Beatles - Revolver - The first signs of the later things to come.

4. Coldplay - AROBTTH - Another obvious choice. One of the most cathartic and inspirational albums I've ever heard (without being biased). I can't imagine the world without music from this album. Like a lot of Beatles tunes, these songs seem to have been around forever. They go beyond "music".

5. The Shins - Chutes Too Narrow - Brilliant. Brilliant. Lyrically, no one can touch the Shins. They are in a class of their own. So creative.

6. Spoon - Kill the Moonlight - The best band out there (other than The Shins). Just amazing. Every album is something different, which makes it hard to choose the best one...and the Britt Daniel's voice is soooo freakin' sexy.

7. Death Cab for Cutie - Transatlanticism - So beautiful and amazingly cohesive. The entire record has a theme centered around the title and it works so well.

8. Queen - A Night At the Opera - No need for explanation. Freddie Mercury was untouchable....

9. Wilco - Summerteeth - My personal favorite Wilco album. I know people might argue that YHF is better, but I don't agree. This one flows and has a central theme. Very much like the Beach Boys' Pet Sounds.

10. The Arcade Fire - Funeral - Refreshing new sound. Each song is a freakin' event. Cathartic and emotional.

1. The Beatles-the Beatles(white album).

First and foremost the album that some say showed the end, but it was just the beginning of wonderful creativity by the Beatles. The isolation of individual artist tracks in a cut & paste kind of way.

Favorite tracks: Sexy Sadie & Why Don't We Do It in the Road

2. The Beach Boys-Pet Sounds

Harmonies have always been the strength of their sound....but this is a pop masterpiece.

Favorite tracks: God Only Knows & Sloop John B

3. Badfinger-No Dice

Power Pop could not have survived without these proteges of the Beatles. Very tragic history though....

Favorite tracks:Without You & We're For the Dark

4. Screaming Trees-Sweet Oblivion

Very underrated grunge group...should have been there breakthrough album. Nirvana and Soundgarden owe a lot of there success to the Trees.

Favorite tracks: More or Less & Winter Song

5. Janis Joplin - I Got Dem Ol' Kozmic Blues Again Mama!

Some think that Pearl was the quintessential Janis album....they should check this one out first. So sad, but it makes me feel good to hear her pain in those songs.

Favorite tracks : Little Girl Blue & Kozmic Blues

6. Damien Rice- O

From the first note to the hidden tracks....not a bad song on this gorgeous record. Haunting and twisted, tormented and melodic.....

Facorite tracks: Cold Water & Amie

7. Dr. Dre- The Chronic

Classic rap album by one of the best producers in the business, it kick-started a new revolution in the genre. I know it should be "higher" on the list.

Favorite tracks: Let Me Ride & Nuthin' But a "G" Thang

8. Jeff Buckley-Grace

Wow....what a voice...calm one second then it still can chill you the next.

Slept on this one really until a few years back when it was given to me by a friend who I'll miss dearly.

Favorite tracks: Last Goodbye & Hallelujah

9. Coldplay-Parachutes

In my opinion the best Coldplay album...and always will be. It's like floating on a dream filled landscape of sounds.....

Favorie tracks: Spies & Trouble

10. Bob Dylan-Blood on the Tracks

It's an affecting, unbearably poignant record, not because it's a glimpse into his soul, but because the songs are remarkably clear-eyed and sentimental, lovely and melancholy at once.

Favorite tracks: If You See Her Say Hello & Shelter From the Storm

1. Arcade Fire - Funeral

this album beats everything. i cant believe they're actually new, but they're making musics like forever already. love the album, love the performances, love the members.. almost every songs is my faves.

2. Coldplay - AROBTTH

yellow is what really made them succeded, but this album is a masterpiece :smug:

3. Coldplay - Parachutes

4. Keane - Hopes and Fears

5. Kings of Convenience - Quiet Is The New Loud

6. The Hush Sound - So Sudden

maybe im the only one who love this album here.. but they're new.. and good. crawling towards the sun is one of my favourites

7. Panic! At The Disco - A Fever You Cant Sweat Out

a great debut album.

8. Oasis - Definitely Maybe

9. All American Rejects - Move Along

10. Sigur Ros - Takk...

sorry if it's crappy.. :dozey:

btw if the list is for 11 fave albums, the number 11 is Brave - If You Ever Comedown :D

Go Thinker!

1. U2 - Achtung Baby - MY favourite album all time by my favourite band ever. Alot of people would agree with me, this is one of the greatest rock albums ever.

2. U2 - Joshua Tree - Another great album filled with classics such as Where the Streets Have No Name, and With or Without You

9. Audioslave - Out of Exile

10. U2 - All the You Can't Leave Behind.

  • 2 weeks later...

Coldplay - AROBTTH

Keane - hopes and fears

U2 - the best of 1980-1990

Coldplay - Parachutes

Coldplay - x&y

Oasis - whats the story morning glory

Radiohead - OK Computer

Bon Jovi - have a nice day

Travis - the invisible band

The Verve - urban hymns

sniggirb.... We have the same exact top 4. And I didn't even read yours before making mine. THAT'S JUST WEIRD. I love your music taste, haha! :)

1. U2-Achtung Baby Sometimes these lyrics fit my life so well it's disturbing. Bono's voice astounds me each time I listen to it. I turn up 'Zoo Station' to full blast and marvel in the technology and layers upon layers of incredible sounds. Each time I listen to it it sounds new.

2. U2-Joshua Tree Wow. Yet again, this is another album that I can never tire of and it never ceases to amaze me. Almost a full 360 turn from Achtung. The best of U2's work in the 80s. I know there are those who say U2's Holy Trinity of sorts is Streets/Still Haven't Found/With or Without You. But I say it's One Tree Hill/Exit/Mothers of the Disappeared. Absolute genius.

3. Coldplay-A Rush Of Blood To The Head I wouldn't be here if it weren't for this album. I probably wouldn't be such a huge U2 fan without this album (since Coldplay introduced me to them). In fact, I wouldn't be who I am today without this album. From the opening, smashing chords of Politik to the final bass line of Amsterdam, it's brilliant.

4. Keane-Hopes and Fears I'm listening to this right now, actually. I've had the album for a couple months now and it still sounds completely fresh to me. Tom's voice is right next to Bono's and Chris' to me. It's absolutely beautiful. Each song on this album can stand on it's own. And what's so incredible about that? It's a debut album.

5. Radiohead-Ok Computer I'm just addicted to it, simple as that.

6. The Beatles-Abbey Road The swan song from one of the best bands of ALL time.

7. Rolling Stones-Exile On Main Street "Shiiiiiiiiit, whoa." is all I can say.

8. Arctic Monkeys-Whatever People Say I Am... Yet another brilliant debute album. It gives me more and more hope for the future of music each day.

9. George Harrison-All Things Must Pass Holy crap I love George. And everything on this. Especially 'Wah Wah'. Guh.

10. The Who-Tommy Set a new standard and category for rock.

Honorable Mention: Led Zeppelin-III

I may not listen to Zeppelin as much as I have in the past. But that doesn't mean that this album isn't still one of the best things ever.

1. U2 - Joshua Tree

2. U2 - Achtung Baby

3. Killers - Hot Fuss

6.Oasis/Definitely Maybe

7.Oasis/Morning Glory

8.Radiohead/The Bends
