So um, I know I always talk about it, but honestly... With Peter's drug charges, do you think he'd EVER be allowed into this country? I'm still thinking of asking Drew on myspace about it. When all this touring's over, that is. Don't want to sound pushy, because I'm not at all. But I remember hearing Adam Green asking Carl about it in the car during that documentary if he could even go to the states anymore, and Carl was just like "dunno" lmfao typical Carl but yeah got me thinking.

 

 

And whenever there's mention of the new album I think "omg tour" and then I remember....

It's really weird, I'm not sure on the exact regulations, but there's definately really strict drug laws here. I think that it really depends on the charges, but he could possibly have his visa removed so he couldn't come here/stay here. It's possible that's happened, or may happen.... It just... it's depressing, definately. I was just thinking about it now and yeah, I mean I think that's what would keep them from coming here, definately. Not for lack of wanting to (well...... I'd like to think so...).

 

 

I'd rather it BE that though, than it be that Peter just won't make the time, won't make his life work for us or doesn't feel it's necessary to come here. :\

 

 

I dunno, though, because everytime I've heard about an artist's visa being removed was because they had some bigger issue, like political or whatever. Meh.

This sounds really negative but it just all seems pretty bleak to me right now :\ ...I mean, the new video & songs are fucking awesome (yes i'll admit, I had my doubts), so it's all there, they could have a good future as a band, musically, as far as I can see anyway. They're such talented guys. - but it just seems to all be hanging on Peter and this stage of his life, right now. Whether he makes the right decisions now or not seem to be crucial, like this is the big moment of truth, if you know what I mean.

Will he stay clean (if he is?!) and get his act together, get rid of those fucking hanger-ons for good....or will he slip into his old ways again, and continue letting fans down.

I just don't know anymore....I try not to think about it too much, it hurts my brain.

I'm pretty much convinced they won't be here for a LONG time if anything. Ah well... I mean I don't need them to, it's just sort of a dream and all that.

 

 

I really do think this is the time that's going to define a lot, a turning point of sorts. It just can't go on one way or the other any more, there has to be a change. And so far there has been.... but then it just all falls apart. Then songs are released, and it's great, then it falls apart again. It's just a constant state of confusion and all that. It's just tough, because it's us fans who always stick by him that end up getting hurt.

 

But we keep coming back for more, haha. Goddamnit, I hope he realizes that. We deserve something. He's done so much that would easily make me stop listening to him permanently, but I don't.

 

It's the music that matters though, not the seeing them live so much, so as long as they keep releasing stuff like this, well, that's all I can really ask.

Ah man, dont even talk to me about the Strokes! A guy I live with loves them, and I hang out in his room quite a lot (god that sounds bad lmfao, we're just good mates, he has a girlfriend) and he's always got them on. We all sit singing along to every word and air-guitaring haha, its pretty cool actually :nice:

He said the day I moved in he remembers hearing me playing The Strokes and the Libertines in my room and thinking he was glad he'd be living with someone with good taste in music :D hehe. Made me smile.

And I know what you mean about the chaos-glamour thing, I hadn't thought about it much but it's interesting now I do :thinking: ....'cos maybe that is a lot of what drew me to the Libs.

I mean, for a while now i've been living a bit of a crazy way of life, some would say 'burning the candle at both ends' lmfao!, (without the drugs of course! ick :sick:), lots of nuts gigs, staying out 'til dawn, crazy parties, lots of booze :uhoh: haha, and they sort of glamourised all of that - a lifestyle which is actually physically pretty abusive, but fuck, is SO much fun. :D

And they sung about it just the way it is....no fucking about, straight to the point. I love the grimy lyrics about times in London, and Bristish society in general....obviously I can relate, as could the fans, which I rekon was a big part of the appeal.

It's kind of weird, for me. I mean, if any of you guys saw where I'm from and all that, it's so NOT the Libertines lyrics. It's not any of that. I live in a really small, republican, all white and pretty closed-minded town, go to a really small high school where there's 112 kids in my graduating class, it's the smallest state, there's no clubs or real venues that you can go walk to, since I live out in the woods. It's just like... so NOT the London scene here :laugh4: But it's just so weird that I really can relate to the lyrics. I mean, it really was Arctic Monkeys who introduced me to the Libs, since the minute I got into them I just loved all of it. I guess I've always been that person who WOULD end up doing all the things in the songs, but just couldn't lmfao. So when I heard the Libertines, it was the same thing.

 

 

I dunno, it's just sooo random sometimes when I think about it. No one in my entire school knows who the Libertines are/were. No one knows Shambles or Dirty Pretty Things, literally no one. I have an art portfolio that I made that I put pictures from NME all over (like Strokes, Libs, Razorlight, Kooks, Arctics, etc etc) and no one knows who they are. It's so random lmfao.

Well I think it's pretty fucking cool Danielle. Seriously. Especially knowing where you are from and about your school etc.

 

When I was at school (i went to a rough, rough school) if you didn't like what everyone else liked, you pretty much either got beaten the shit out of or just bullied for it. So I pretty much decided in my head to just 'conform' the whole time I was at school, which is rediculous, but I did. And I wish I hadn't now...it was spineless.
