BURMA=Perfection. :smug:

Random, I'm rereading parts of 'Bound Together' and figured this is a section that Andy and Red (and all of us, indeed) would enjoy.... it is quite revealing...

The band were still without a bassist, though.

Banny phoned ex-drummer Paul DuFour. She said, 'Do you know any good bass players?' He said, 'What do you mean? There's only one bass player-John Hassall. John's the only bass player in The Libertines.'

CARL: 'Well, we ummed and ahhed but the thing is John is fucking good and he looks fucking good and so that was that. There would be no more daydreaming, it was taking it by the balls. That was the transformation that occurred, it was the new way.'

JOHN: 'I was getting calls, from mainly Carl, saying come back to the band, we're going to give it another go. I was working in a bookshop and Peter came in and he'd play me what he'd been doing. It was really sad because I loved the tunes, I'd always loved the tunes. But I'd made my decision. I didn't feel it was going to go anywhere.

Then, after a few months I got a call off Carl going, 'We're going to get signed, we're going to get signed by Rough Trade.' This was just when The Strokes had kicked off and I was like OK, yeah, I'll come back to the band. So I came back with my tail between my legs.

A lot had changed since I'd been away. The manager Banny said we'd love to have you back in the band, but you can't write any songs and you can't do any interviews. And she said basically it's all about Pete and Carl. And I wasn't really in a position to argue about it, y'know?

John is typically sanguine about it now: 'I don't know if it was banny's idea or Pete and Carl's. I suppose I thought... I suppose I am deeply resentful of that now. But I'm probably deluding myself, I was fine, actually. In fact it suited me quite well, once we'd got the machine going.'

Daniiiiiiiiiiii Thanks for that

I seriously loved it. Its is quite revealing indeed, mainly regarding his character :stunned:

'Well, we ummed and ahhed but the thing is John is fucking good and he looks fucking good and so that was that

Carl's my hero

:bigcry: :bigcry: :bigcry:

I need to start reading that book!

Joooohn

I love bound together and it only made me cry about 60 million times but it also made me laugh lots to its such a good book and shows you how deeply in love peter and carl really were/are

Yeah, that's what I say Tea :bigcry: :bigcry:

I absolutely LOVE 'Bound Together'. I recommend it to everyone. It's impossible to get here in the States, though. I got it in Ireland when I went this summer, and I read it all on the plane ride back. It went so fast, I learned a lot about them.

Which also led to my dad who was sitting next to me and kept taking glances of the pictures inside, to ask "They gay?"

"Uhm.... Nah, just really close friends."

"hm."

LMFAO. er.. LMFAO I kept my mouth shut HAHA

I'll type up any other sections that stick out to me along the way again ;)

Your dad sounds like my mum :laugh4:

lmfao You had to lie! How sweet :nice:

Haha, I just had to. :laugh4: He wasn't saying it in a bad way, just a sort of "oh?" way. It amused me though lmfao

Helloooo girls! OMFG I just got back from Muse, they were INCREDIBLE!!! :wideeyed:

Holy shit. Seriously, if you ever get the chance to see them, do it.

As far as 'stadium rock' or whatever you may call it goes, they're at the top of their game. I've never jumped/sung/sweated/been in a circle pit so much in my life :laugh4: lmfao.

But of course...they're no DPT :nice: hehe. I can't help but always compare! :uhoh:

Only tiiiiny criticism i'd have is that there's no intimacy//much audience interaction, which is a shame, but I guess that's just the type of band they are.

[/end off topic!]
