That's a really nice review Dani :nice: I think the things you wrote about like Dirty Pretty Things are more than just Carl Barât's new band. They're more than just the 'New Libertines'. are quite important to mention when talking about this album, hopefully it won't be on the next but atm it is... Well done

Body: hello mate, thanks very much.

i didn’t know the libertines before i met peter so i ain’t familiar with the old song titles. it might be unbilotitled, as i know that one’s been knocking round for a few years. its the one that goes “he is stronger than the walls, that they tried to build around him” etc. every now and then when we’re jamming he’ll play a bit of something that i’ll jump on, and he’ll be dismissive and say “oh thats a song i’ve had for years” etc. i’ll then insist on working it up with the band. sometimes i get my way, like with albion, love you but you’re green or time for heroes. if that ain’t the one gimme a lyric and i’ll try to clarify when i get a moment.

take care bruv

you know all my friends laugh at me for saying BRUV too... guess i hung ut wuth too many rudeboys when i first moved to england. -so i checked the utube link ...that was actually the 1st time peter played us that song. i dont know how obvious its but is quite often the case that the 1st time we (ad, mick, gemma pat or i) have heard a new tune of his its onstage in front of hundreds of people. we then have to try to play along! for most musicians that would be intolerable but damn does it keep u on your toes. for example if you listen it goes from 4/4 time to 6/8 time when he starts singing "if its true that you reap what you sow" etc. thats why you often see me running around trying to look at his fingers to see what chords he's playing, or me stood by mick shouting "E minor! -now B diminished 7th!" in his ear. for some reason peter oftentimes forgets about new ideas in rehearsal(the few occasions when he joins adam and i when we have our jams), but then remembers them onstage. i tell you man its unlike how any other band works. the guy just doesn't give a flying fuck about appearing professional and i love him for it. I've been in bands where we do 40 date tours and the setlist is always the same, down to the banter between songs. you end up going through the motions, like if you say the same word over and over it starts to lose its meaning. rubarbrubarbrubarbrubarb..

as for saying you that getting back to you is what sets us apart from other bands..thank you..but honestly man- you lot...do you think other fans ask questions like that? what sets us apart is having fans like you. if only journalists would care about the kind of things you ask about then maybe people would see past the tabloid bollocks and get what we're doing. between finished songs from dia or libs classics we're dropping stuff that's actually work in progress, and we listen to your reactions, because with out you lot we'd be playing to an empty room. the quality of the live shows can vary as a result but at least its not contrived, its honest as can be.

anyway that tune is brand new, unless peter is shitting me(not impossible). it has a vamp very similar to that bit in "a fool there was" that has the line "i stole no kisses from you...just the odd cigarette". so i plan to try and change that chord progression a bit. its called "torn" for now.

So Dan, feel free to cut and paste this ramble and drop it in any forum, i absolutely don't mind. in fact its refreshing to answer a question thats actually musical and not about drugs or supermodels.

take care bruv(!)

Yeah, I mean I've read tons of reviews on the album and it always seems to come across that way. I wanted to mention the Libertines, obviously, because I feel as though an artists history is incredibly important to their current music that's released.... but I didn't want the main focus of the interview to be that. A lot of times that's the vibe I get that people feel as though they ARE the new Libertines. And yes, they make music that I think could possibly stand up to it, (like, what I meant, music that could have made it on a Libs album) and music that stands up to all the new Libs copycats out there. ;) I really had to mention the fact that they are a seperate band, though, and all members should get their due time.

Glad you like :)

I'll have to read those Drew messages when I come home from school ;) but the first one already makes me go AWWWW omg omg omg

Drew is so nice and so cool!!!

Even though it's been kicking around for ages but I'd love to hear a fullband version of it since it was the first song I heard (after mwtlgo) :nice: And newish songs! And Peter should write stuff with Drew cause that'd be perfection! Oh, I want this to come quick quick!

The Blinding.

Oh I nearly forgot!

You know how we stack that extra track on The Blinding so as to make it 'chart ineligible'?

Well ... if we'd knocked off one of the tracks we'd have gone in the singles chart at No 4!

Not bad eh?

Especially with all that Xmas crap about.

Btw, who do you guys think posts the bulletins?

I have a strong feeling that it's either Mick or the manager cause Adam doesn't write like that, Drew defenitly doesn't write like that and Peter just doesn't write that logical *bless him* so yeah... [/random]

i actually thought it was drew cause he says wee alot and also cause he's got his own myspace so he might just do it on both.

We've got some new dates arranged for February as a wee trip out of the studio recording the new album.

Ahhhhh  the shambles! Damnnn. :wideeyed:

heh, yeah I was about to say... that's not Peter! :laugh4:

He does do that...didn't even notice... Maybe Adam told him to use capital letters then :laugh3:

Oh, and I kinda like the Libforum people today, they're actually saying nice things about the boys  :nice:

I always thought they exaggerated the amount of improvisation that goes on, but if that’s true then my opinion of the rest of the band as musicians has just rocketed.

That's a first... :stunned: Since when have they gotten NICE? :laugh4:

awwww just went and read Drew's messages, he's so sweet. I really kind of want to ask him if they ever thought of coming over here. Obviously not saying soon or anything, just if I had that to look forward to, or had SOME hope, that'd be cool. I'd like to know the circumstances with Peter's drug problems and convictions...

I don't want him to think I'm being forceful, though, or obnoxious, because I'm not. Just would love to know...

I don't think he would be at all... not if you play your cards right :laugh3: No, but seriously, maybe he will be if you're like: So are you gonna play the states?! Be like: 'so, the EP is amazing and it would be so amazing if you guys could play here. I understand that it would be hard right now but just know that the world loves you guys' etc.

And hell, we're getting close to 400 aren't we

Hmmm, then yes maybe I will send him a message! Yeah, I just would love to see the band, damnit, and I think an answer is something that we could all appreciate. I totally get that it would be difficult, and I don't care if he says "maybe not for a few years" because hey, that's alright. I accept that. But it's more.... what the reason is, or something like that?

Anyhoo

WHOO 400!!!!

I should probably start reading that, need some new fic... hmm

Hey everyone, I've missed so muchhhhhhhhh *goes to catch up*:stunned:
