I agree with you 100% Danielle. I can understand that people don't like Babyshambles if they like DPT but I can't see how you can listen to Babyshambles, DPT or Yeti and not be a Libertines fan. (yes, even yeti who sound nothing like them)

It feels like some of the people on that board as well as the Libs board just sees Peter as the person who broke the band apart which I don't belive for a second. It takes more then one person to destroy something and blaiming it on just Peter is really really low.

 

And I have to admit, when I first heard DPT I thought: Bad Libertines coverband. (I don't anymore btw but it took me a while to really love them)

So when people say they like DPT but not The Libs I don't belive it for a second, I just belive they have more 'love' felling towards Carl then Peter.

I kind of fell into the Libs and DPT all at once, so it was a really strong emotion of liking them right away. Don't know why, I don't ever remember even making distinctions. It was just, oh, this band and oh, that one. Plus I was totally in love with Didz first and Peter at the same time. So it was a good balance. Thank you hormones!!! :laugh4:

 

 

Babyshambles came later, since I still had to ween myself into it, but seriously....... I just don't get it, I don't get people. Have you guys read Bound Together? It definately doesn't paint Peter as the soul responsible party, although his actions were the final straw that broke the camel's back. It was simply a crescendo of things. I truly belive that, it was to good to be true. That kinda love for each other can kill you and I belive it was a good thing they split when they did. I would love to see Peter and Carl work together in the future but like someone said, they don't need each other at the moment. Maybe as friends yes but not in a musical way. Carl, I think, still wants to prove himself to himself etc. I don't even know what I was supposed to say but yeah..

I'm sorta in the same boat as Danielle, I really discovered them at the same time. Well, my love for DPT made me more curious so I started to listen to more Libs stuff that I hadn't heard previously....and in turn fell in love with it. Then I gave the 'shambles a try, as I loved Fuck Forever when it came out.

Although DPT's sound appeals to me more, I adore the Libs more than words can describe (well, my crappy words anyway), and I just cant understand how someone who loves DPT's sound can't in turn appreciate the Libs'....that's just weird.

Well I am almost certain that I'll be going to another festival this summer, and I'm making sure it's Glasto (if not, I want to either do Oxegen again cuz that really ruled or T, cuz European music festivals are the way to go and I'm traveling this summer anyways). mmmm. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they're doing the podpads, which I'm sure they will. I am incapable of sleeping in a tent.
