I don't mean to offend anyone with this thread, I am a diehard Coldplay fan bla bla bla...but I didn't like any of the videos form X&Y so far. Speed of sound wasn't so bad but there are so many videos shot at the same place (I think the last one I saw was one by Yellow Card) it's not original. Then Fix You...(I'm gonna have lots of new enemies because of this)...I hate that song. And the video it's not much better. Talk was a little funny but the idea was really weird. And The Hardest Part is just BIZARRE.

They're a well known band with fans all over the world and lots of money and fame, can't they put a little thought into making the videos? I think the last good video was The Scientist or Clocks (not original either but still).

Talk was so fucking horrible. I mean, SOS and Fix You were uber bland, but Talk actually left a foul taste in my mouth.

 

They kinda mish-mashed the whole idea of not taking your band seriously, while trying really hard to make a good video. Obviously that just wont work.

Good for you, if I'd known how shitty it is I wouldn't have watched it. There's a fine line between a funny yet good video and an everything-but-funny bizarre piece of crap. The Hardest Part crossed that line...it's gonna take a lot of work to undo it

Which is horrible? Talk or The Hardest Part? I haven't seen the last one... Anyway I also dislike Fix You a lot and the album version of Talk isn't very good.

Not many good videos? I disagree. The last 3 were crappy...but the US version of Trouble (the one where Guy's getting beat up),Yellow,Don't Panic with the weird paper-like people were cool. The Scientist rocked and so did GPASUYF

The only thing I can say I like about Coldplay is the video's, they had a good run of some really good videos. This was probably a result of them not being huge enough and not having enough creative control to fuck things up. I can just see Chris Martin talking to the director of Talk and saying; "Yeah, so I'm thinking, spacemen... Yeah? Yeah... We go on a magic rocket... K? K..... If you got a problem with that, look at our record sales... I thought so"

 

Then again it was Antoin Corbijn, and I doubt anyone could really speak up to him.

 

The good videos:

 

Dont Panic- Its wonderful. Not only does it look unique and capturing to the viewer, but the actions and imagery in it manage to perfectly suit the music.

 

In My Place- Very good video too, its just simplicity that was a perfect representation for the new album at the time. There are brilliant little touches though, like the two people sitting on the steps in the background, gives everything a casual feel.

 

Trouble- Cant believe people havent mentioned this one yet, the lighting effects just work well with Chris being tied up. "Spider web and I'm caught in the middle". It works well.

 

Shiver- Yah das gud.

 

Yellow- Yah das gud.

 

In my opinion, their last quality video was In My Place. Since then they did have The Scientest and then Clocks, but then they had GPASMUYF which is undoubtedly shit. So lets blame whoever directed that, as it doesnt have a credited director.

:laugh1: Y'know video directors are failed movie makers, and some of them are so bitter they wanna ruin other people's careers. Or maybe Anton just comes up with his ideas while being drunk or high, that'd explain odd videos like Enjoy The Silence or one by Nirvana (can't remember the name)

I did mention it, Trouble is one of the -if not the- best Coldplay video. Guy is the one tied up by the way...
