"USA Loves Coldplay" Appreciation Thread Philly 4/6

Featured Replies

Well I can't believe it's over. Several weeks ago I had an idea to try to do something special on the last night of the US leg of the CP tour...to say thank you and to show the guys how much their music means to their fans in the US. In the end I met some great people who showed great committment and determination to help my idea come to life. To the friends I have made I say a big thank you for your efforts...I think we accomplished what we set out to do.

The night started off great our meeting in the parking lot was great...a chance to finally meet the people behind the forum ID's and countless emails. We had members from as far away as Florida and Ontario. Trying to figure out how we would get 12,000 signs in took a bit of figuring but again everyone stepped up and did what they had to do. As we approached the door as a group the trouble began. A very stern and assertive security guard with and intimidating russian accent shouted "you can not bring those in!!! After some smooth talking by Barbara (AiresLady) the guard agreed to ask for a decision from the top guy. After a few minutes and silent prayers they let us in!!! You can imagine the relief we felt once we got through the door. We had put to much time, effort and money into making those signs and we were not going to take no for an answer. Once in we finalized the plan and found our seats. The minute Ashcroft took his final bow we went to work. We each had our section assignments and by the time CP was about to begin I took once last looked out from the my seat on the floor and all I could see were people with our signs...all over the floor section and the bottom tier it was amazing. From that point the work was over and we could enjoy the show. The weeks of planning was over and it was now up to the crowd to do the rest. The signs instructed people to hold them up at the encore. When the guys finished their set and walked off, I took my eyes off of the stage and did a 360 degree pan of the venue and it was beautiful. Signs were everywhere....it worked!! Thousands of people proclaiming their love for the boys!! I felt just amazing and I felt thankful for the people who had helped to make this happen. Although not every sign made its way up in the air a good percentage were there. As the boys came back on stage I noticed a member of the crew on the stage videotaping the sight. Who knows maybe we will make the Coldplayer or even yet the Tour Documentary. It was apparent that the guys noticed the signs....there was no way they counldn't. As the final note of Fix You rang out, Chris thank the crowd for giving them the best job in the world and said "thank you for the brilliant flyers". As they made their way to the center of the stage to give their final bow in the US for several years, Chris took a sign and tore it up into individual words and gave it to Will, Guy and Johnny re-ordering the sign to say "Coldplay Loves USA" it was wonderful.

Again thank you to those that helped...(Barb, Dan, Rob, David, Joe, Jenn, Pam, Kathy, Chris and Aaron) I hope our friendships will continue in the CP world. I would also be remise if I didn't thank DreamOutLoud who also had a sign campaign for the show on Chris' birthday in Washington DC.

Thats a great picture! Great story as well. So glad it worked out. I really wanted to go to this concert, but I couldnt afford it. Great job! I'm sure it will be in their memories for a long time.

Aww that's awesome!! First the Happy bday Chris signs and now these! Very cool.. great ideas! :nice:

heres the view from where i was sitting, section 108... i had to ask for a sign from someone who was handing them out coz i went browsing around during the break instead of staying put in my seat .. i wonder if he's on the board.. uhh i think i was like one of five asian people there.. another one being my friend who was sitting next to me.. lol

Thats a great pic...except all the people in the back of the floor. Whats up with like all of them not holding up the signs?

Amazing! Really a brilliant event for them.

The video is great! I was whimpering. And especially when Chris starts to undress. I think it's kind of symbolic. Did he throw his shoes and shirt to someone???

I freaking love these guys. thanks for all the pics too!

uhh.... ME TOO!

I would have jumped that barrier.

yeah apparently they were too cool to hold up a sign. and the people on front of us left like a few songs after they played yellow.. i was like.. wut.. the ..frick..

Yea seriously WTF? Dont even deserve those seats. Probly some rich snobs bought em off ebay.

It was an AMAZING sight to see! Just wish I would've gotten a sign. They stopped handing them out 3 rows in front of me! But it was still great! I think they were really touched!

Dave

yeah he also pretended to take off his pants while walking off the stage.. that tease!

yes, but jbarry failed to mention important info like Chris taking off clothes and acting like he's gonna take off pants. :P Just keepin peeps informed proper.

aw it looks amazing i bet it was even better for the boys from the stage. good job guys!

Unbelieveable!

Hey Everyone!

I cannot believe that the show is already over! Spending hours typing up emails and printing out fliers paid off when everyone in the Wachovia Center was holding up the signs after the ending of Talk. Even though we had some minor problems trying to get the signs into the venue, the expressions on people's faces when we were distributing signs across the venue were definitely unforgettable!

Thanks to everyone who was able to help distribute signs last night down in Philadelphia! Without your efforts, we would have never had been able to fulfill the task of making the Philly concerts one of the unforgettable nights for all Coldplay fans, as well as Chris, Johnny, Will, and Guy! Just seeing them rip one of our signs to spell out "Coldplay Loves USA" was simply amazing.

I need to forward all of the "thank you" messages that I received last night within our section to all of those responsible for sign distribution. Everyone was excited and amused that the entire audience cooperated in holding up the signs during the performance, and they were suprised that people waited until the encore to hold them up!

Again, the Coldplay concert was one unforgettable night and I will be chatting with each of you personally over the next few days through email to discuss the success of our signs! Hopefully I will be able to upload my pictures shortly considering that I took over 300 during the concert! Since I was sitting towards the back of 108A during 'In My Place', I have some killer photos of Chris jumping into the crowd!

Thanks again to everyone! Hopefully we will keep in touch so that in a few years, we can plan another sign distribution or fan collaboration for the next tour!

With Love and Regards,

Me at the show

It was INCREDIBLE! I'm so glad I was there! I could tell the band was moved :) By the way,I think Chris sitting on stage taking his shirt off then his shoes and leaving them there was a James Blunt impression ;) Loved when Chris ran down the aisle and sang to us folks in the back! (sec 107)
