TLo, your friend is a real fan O_o ...lol

yeah, i'd like to see him live as well... :/ once he was in USSR in the end of 80s...far before my birth so i didn't even had a chance to see him. but now i don't even hope that he'll tour in Europe  that would be amazing, i'd catch him in Switzerland that's for sure

Random fact time, Billy Joels 52nd street was the first CD ever released.

*Runs off singing piano man*

^ yes, lol

The Stranger is my one favourite albums ever and it is the best BJ album in my opinion

"you've got your passion

you've got your pride

but don't you know

that only fools are satisfied"

*bump*

i listened to Goodnight Saigon yesterday and it made me cry

i just realized this song would fit to today's Iraqi situation as well :/

one of the sadest songs ever, it has a really deep meaning. and how terrible can it be for all those people who were in Vietnam and came back or for mothers/fathers or wives who lost their sons or husbands and listened to this song :/ ?

the sound of the helicopter is very scary imo. it took me to Vietnam and i imagined that i'm seeing all those terrible things which were happening...

i really suggest to d/load this song to everybody who hasn't heard it:

We met as soul mates

On Parris Island

We left as inmates

From an asylum

And we were sharp

As sharp as knives

And we were so gung ho

To lay down our lives

We came in spastic

Like tameless horses

We left in plastic

As numbered corpses

And we learned fast

To travel light

Our arms were heavy

But our bellies were tight

We had no home front

We had no soft soap

They sent us Playboy

They gave us Bob Hope

We dug in deep

And shot on sight

And prayed to Jesus Christ

With all of our might

We had no cameras

To shoot the landscape

We passed the hash pipe

And played our Doors tapes

And it was dark

So dark at night

And we held on to each other

Like brother to brother

We promised our mothers we'd write

And we would all go down together

We said we'd all go down together

Yes we would all go down together

Remember Charlie

Remember Baker

They left their childhood

On every acre

And who was wrong?

And who was right?

It didn't matter in the thick of the fight

We held the day

In the palm

Of our hand

They ruled the night

And the night

Seemed to last as long as six weeks

On Parris Island

We held the coastline

They held the highlands

And they were sharp

As sharp as knives

They heard the hum of our motors

They counted the rotors

And waited for us to arrive

And we would all go down together

We said we'd all go down together

Yes we would all go down together

I'm impressed with all the Billy Joel love on here......

Billy Joel is good. He deserves a thread. Do any of you like him? I love him. I only have one of his LP's but i have 3 disc greatest hits which is phenominal...

My favorites are:

angry young man

she's always a woman

don't ask me why

only the good die young

etc. etc. etc.

:D

:confused:I searched for a billy joel thread and didn't find one! maybe i made a spelling error....

anyway, i completely agree David. I got to get some his albums other then the greatest hits....

My suggestion when you have an artist whose name is 2 or more words long, use the word which is most unique, for example search for Joel would get rid of any other billys there are.

I love his old stuff....can you believe he is STILL charging people to see him live

I absolutely love "Pressure". It's my favorite Billy Joel song and one of my favorite songs in general. I also love Piano Man, It's Still Rock and Roll To Me, and We Didn't Start The Fire.:D

Billy Joel is simply amazing. Anyone heard his nocturne or stuff off his latest 'classical' album?

I like me some Billy Joel. Whenever I am at a bar, I always put 'Piano Man' on the jukebox.
