  • I just wanted to say, after 5 years of being part of the Coldplay fandom, first on Coldplaying, now on Coldplaying, Twitter and other platforms, a wonderful thing happened today: Coldplay followed me

  • I ran away
    I ran away

On this day exactly 5 years ago, a young and innocent person who was just getting really into Coldplay wanted to sign up on a forum called Coldplaying. Faced with the question of what to pick as a use

  • Today exactly 5 years ago, I joined the Coldplaying community and I don't regret that that. To be honest, it's probably one of the best things that have happened in my life! I had never thought I woul

Thought for the day...

Coldplay REALLY helped me today.. I had ONE HELL of a stressful morning - long story, short, my cat has heart disease, just diagnosed.. I had had a long, stressful journey there, my paperwork was all messed up, etc and I had been told I would have to pay for his treatment upfront, which was in excess of £400! - and claim the insurance back later.. So I was buying a coffee in the vets cafe, biting back tears, whilst he was being treated, feeling INCREDIBLY upset and stressed.. When over the stereo, came the soothing, calming sounds of the Scientist.. 'Nobody said it was easy....' (joined by the man behind the counter serving! - which of course made me smile) How perfect are those lyrics ?! and I felt a wonderful sense of calm and perspective come over me... The coffee helped too! ;) :D So thanks Coldplay..

My cat will be OK, btw. he needs lifelong treatment, but at least it's sorted now, and I didn't have to pay in the end either! :D

But I guess it DOES make him a bit of a bad boy? :sneaky: :D

I think he prefers cake these days! LOL

I got lots of cake.. Any chance that Jonny will come around? :laugh3:

Haha! I rest my case! :D Do you suppose it's like a homing beacon? The more cake you have the more chance he'll come around?? :D

Well, I do have a lot. :awesome:

A bus I've taken today was decorated with loads of butterflies. My first thought... COLDPLAY!! :flutterby:

^Oh, it's more than 2 seconds :wink3:

I think I'm going to watch it until I learn every single word everyone says :D the Diary creates so many feelings :| literally, unexplainable. Maybe it's the Politik intro, it's so overwhelming to me.

Guy talks a lot in the Diary. Well, a lot for him. :wacky:

Has Jonny quit smoking since then?

Unfortunately I don't think he has :\ There's a pretty recent pic of him I saw weeks ago (I actually commented that he's very well dressed in it, great style :awesome: ), and you know how in magazines they photoshop pictures of celebrities with a pack of cigarettes in their hands ? You know, they delete it, and it just looks like their hands have a weird position. Well it's the same on that pic :\

I gotta say the only thing that I didn't like AT ALL in the Tour Diary is all the smoking  But the rest is SO AWESOME :awesome:

can you post the photo Celine? I'd like to cast my (photoshoppy) eye over it.. if you can find it of course.. ;)

Actually I am feeling pretty down this evening, so I might watch the DVD.. plus tour diary, and try and make myself feel happier..

Here it is. I found it in his thread. And apparently YOU posted it, Row

I found this...

See his right hand ? To me, or he was very cold and shivering or something, or he's holding a pack of cigarettes.

That looks pretty strange.. :wtf:

I just thought Chris once said that Guy was the only smoker in the group.

I have learned Clocks on the piano but I am too shy, I cannot to play this to my best friend...

It's bad!

Yes LOL.. apparently I did.. and I recall where I found, it said he was on his way to the Gym... now surely you wouldn't SMOKE on the way there!? It's a photo taken whilst he was walking, and maybe he was clenching his hands in frustration at the photographer? :laugh3: But I do see what you mean..

Oh god what a shitty morning :S

I'm glad that's it's all okay again, Row :)

And I understand you, The Scientist has a particular strong power over me. The lyrics are perfect that's so true ;) Coldplay are just able to make everyone feel better. They're a nice cure :)

;)

I don't know why but lately I'm very fond of 'Now My Feet Won't Touch The Ground' :D

How long is that Tour Diary?

There is almost no information about it. :inquisitive:

I think it's about 40-45 minutes....though I might be wrong :uhoh:

I just came back from a party at some bar, and at one point, between awful songs, THE song from THE video came out!* :wideeyed: So Chris popped into my head a few times during the song and I felt better suddenly :awesome:

*

I'm obviously talking about the Chris Martin knows it video :charming:

OH, and then, my dad picked me up, and in the car he put the radio, and guess what came up...Springsteen's We take of our own :awesome: x100 I was like "Yaay Springsteen! :guitarist: Yay Chris "

I'm ashamed to admit I'VE smoked on the way to or from the gym, lol. Seem pretty oxy-moronic...or just plain moronic, eh?

To be fair, the guys are just human, and they were young then. Last I'd heard Jonny quit, but I'm not sure.

Ugh, Row, yeah, that definitely qualifies for a crap morning .

I'm so glad everything got sorted out and your cat will be okay, though, and yay for Coldplay being there unexpectedly (along with the coffee server and the coffee itself) to help you feel better :).

They do write some incredibly reassuring songs, don't they? I've said it before, listening to them sometimes is like getting a big ol' hug from a good friend who will just let you cry or vent on their shoulder for an hour.

The Tour Diary is the documentary in the bonus of the Live DVD.

There's no full frontal nudity, but at some point Chris has to change fast right after a gig I think, and he doesn't wait the camera to turn off to put off his pants and shirts, so we have like 2 seconds of Chris in underwear :P

If that's not a convincing enough argument to buy the DVD...

Aaaaaaaand we have my full attention :D. Hehe.

As for the smoking discussion, yeah, I hope whomever in the group does smoke will stop, or is stopping, or has stopped, or whatever. I'll never understand the appeal of smoking. It's your body, so whatever, I guess-all the lectures and such in the world won't make people stop if they don't want to, but I don't get why people do it at all.

That's why they're putting so much effort into getting young people's attention. If I hadn't started in my teens, I'd have never started. By the time I was in my 20s, I'd probably not have bothered. And you're right: Nothing will curb it except the desire to stop.

RCT: I want a cake like that for my 42nd!:D

Certainly a good idea. Try and stop it as early as possible.

I never liked the smell, it always gave me a headache, so that alone was enough to keep me away. Then upon hearing about all the other things smoking can do to you, that just clinched it.

Yeah. A person has to have the will to help themselves. Not to say people around them shouldn't care or be concerned or try to help, but if the person smoking isn't interested, it's just going to come off as nagging. And we all know nagging is annoying :p.

I agree about the cake. I want one of those, too :D.

And Coeurli, hehe, I hear that "Chris Martin knows it" song from time to time, too, and it always makes me smile and laugh.

I tried to quit a year and a half ago, and I actually cut WAY back. I don't smoke at home during the day anymore! But a lot of that goes to my great friends who encouraged and supported me. Someone addicted to anything has to want to stop, but no one can do it alone. :)And yeah, nagging just makes me want to smoke more, lol.

I've never smoked, when I went to school a LOT of the kids there smoked.. a lot. Cool kids smoked... I was never cool.. so I didn't I guess.. But I can remember coming home from high school on the bus, and it was FULL of smoke FULL.. It choked, it smelt awful and I know that is one of the reasons I didn't start, despite HUGE peer pressure..

But, I do really understand that it is terrifically hard to give up. Good luck with it Tracie, you'll do it..

I was watching TV and the Paradise video came up. I've come to 2 realizations:

1. My 2 favorite moments are when Chris is riding the unicycle and he takes off his elephant head (Oh, hi Chris :cheesy::dazzled: ) & when he finds the band playing and runs to Jonny & they kinda hug :cheesy::awesome::wacky:

2. I can't remember who on Coldplaying said that, but it got printed in my brain: Guy has the thickest trunk. :|

Needless to say that whenever he appears on screen during the video I think about that & laugh (or have this expression on my face: :sneaky: ) :bomb:
