Random Coldplay thoughts...

My nephew went to the dentist today and he happened to be playing Coldplay in the background! He told him it was his favorite band. Cool...

  • I just wanted to say, after 5 years of being part of the Coldplay fandom, first on Coldplaying, now on Coldplaying, Twitter and other platforms, a wonderful thing happened today: Coldplay followed me

  • I ran away
    I ran away

On this day exactly 5 years ago, a young and innocent person who was just getting really into Coldplay wanted to sign up on a forum called Coldplaying. Faced with the question of what to pick as a use

  • Today exactly 5 years ago, I joined the Coldplaying community and I don't regret that that. To be honest, it's probably one of the best things that have happened in my life! I had never thought I woul

^ JEALOUS! :bigcry:

Just thought I'd share that:

a) I had ANOTHER Coldplay dream... madness!

and

b) I just changed my favorite music on my facebook to "Pretty much just Coldplay, the Beatles, and John Lennon at the moment... It's okay, I probably hate your music too :) "

...Lesson one of being a Coldplay fan: self-defense! ;)

Tickets arrived

*high-fives*

Isn't just the best feeling in the world?

:wacky:

Snow day where I live! No school, good thing too because I don't think I would be able to walk in a blizzard.

snow is everywhere. strong winds. can't see anything outside.

(that had nothing to do with Coldplay)

anyway,

I half-finished my postcard, hopefully will mail either today or tomorrow :D (ok maybe not today lol)

*needs to rant*

My friend just changed her status in facebook to say that she "is having a spasm of Coldplay-induced rage". So I of course ask why, as it's not like some big Coldplay scandal came out in the news today or something, and she responds with:

"Because I hate Coldplay, particularly after their new album, which I just listened to. I understand that I'm in the minority on this, but their music is...offensive in its pleasantness and blandness."

WTF, guys? So she's just randomly Coldplay-bashing, and she knows how much I love them! ARGH, I hate having friends who think they're too cool for Coldplay!

*keeps muttering angrily*

:laugh3: Zoe, I can't help but laugh @ that! Well, I suppose they turned the corner on some of their more melancholy music (great music, but often melancholic) - so, your friend finds the change too - too - positive to accept, given her expectations?

Strawberry swing is bland? Lovers in Japan?? What?? Obviously, she's suffering for a lack of happy genes, which can only be cured by a mild dose of partying..:P

Well obviously she's dead wrong, I just hate how my friends are so pretentious with their music tastes, and therefore think they're above Coldplay and need to hate them. They all think they're so cool because they listen to crappy bands that no one has heard of, and love to remind me of how much they think Coldplay sucks... :veryangry2:

Sorry, it's just so frustrating being surrounded by music snobs who hate Coldplay!

i hate music snobs too. i have a particular, specific taste in music, but i don't really think that's being a snob, because at least i try things and can see the value in them, even if i decide they're not for me. i get really frustrated by the indie kids that think that bands can only be good if they're unheard of and undiscovered. fame and popularity can definitely affect music, but not always negatively, which people don't seem to understand. i can understand people not being that into coldplay, but as for being ANGRY at them...i think that's insane. i think that's people going into listening to them with preconceived notions that affect their ears.

Few days ago I was walking down the streets and saw CK underwear store and the next moment I was thinking about Guy's undies!!!

Hehehe!!! You and those CK underwear!!!:wink3:

:P

I think I need some serious help...

Hehehehe!!! No you are still pretty normal!

Well, I for one think their musical changes are refreshing, and it's good to see variety in their repertoire. Why not produce some up-beat songs, and change the mood of the globe?? Hurray for their new music!!:)

This is why I love this forum!

Yeah, see all of my friends will only listen to "unheard of" music... I used to kinda be like that too, and I still don't listen to "popular music", but I realize that just because a band is well-known, that's no reason to hate them, and it doesn't make them bad, for god's sake! At my school we're like 100% "indie kids", but luckily most of us don't think like my friend...

And I think that Coldplay's biggest problem is that people listen to them with preconceived notions. I mean, she's saying they're bland after listening to VLVOD?! That's ridiculous! She's just taking the stuff people have said about them for years and blindly repeating it.

But in other news, my other friend whom I've been trying to get hooked on Coldplay just recorded a video for me on my facebook wall, and it consisted of her singing along to Viva la Vida :P She knew all the words, I'm so proud! :wacky:

Brainwashing complete :sneaky:

Hey Zoe, no brainwashing!:laugh3: A clean room is a good thing, and so is a clean sink. But a clean mind? If you scrub too much, you'll wear off all the smart bumps!:laugh3:

Anyhow, hmm.. quite the world we live in - thank goodness for variety's sake!!

Psh, Coldplay brainwashing is the good kind of brainwashing... Mwahahaha!

Besides, a mind that doesn't love Coldplay doesn't have any "smart bumps" ;)

Psh, Coldplay brainwashing is the good kind of brainwashing... Mwahahaha!

I wholeheartedly agree. :D

:D *high-five*

This is my first successful brainwash, too!

*returns high-five*

I've had a few- the best one so far has been my boyfriend, since he's sort of a music snob. Plus obviously I could never date someone who did not appreciate Coldplay. :laugh4: But now he's seen the light! :P

Every time I see these in a store I grin:

:D

Me too! And I remembered recently that several years ago there used to be a Mexican restaurant in my town called "Viva la Vida".... I totally forgot! :laugh4:

there's also the "vivaaaaa viagra" commercial...

there was a picture of kanye west in concert in one of the recent issues of rolling stone, and he was wearing a shirt underneath a jacket that looked suspiciously like the VIVA LA VIDA artwork...

there's also the "vivaaaaa viagra" commercial...
