If you don't like it, then don't watch it.

it annoys me when people say that

it's just the disappointment from the show, and even if I don't watch it, it doesn't mean I don't miss it.

It's my pet peeve. Chris Martin says that if people don't like Coldplay's music then change the radio station, when I was trying to improve this forum I was told to fuck off if I don't like the state it's in, David is a former mod and this attitude seems to be the theme of Coldplaying generally- if you don't like it, fuck off.

People who are afraid of objectivity clearly have insecurities.

I always have a laugh at the people whom watch programs like Top Gear, just to try and find anything to complain about

I don't generally watch it anymore, and I definitely don't watch it while masturbating like you do.

Stop being so fucking defensive about your shitty little Top Gear and accept that some people may not like it.

Why thank you for suggesting that I masturbate while watching Top Gear. What I do and don't get upto in my personal life is no business to you.

You're an absolute retard for missing my point.

You love this stupid show so much that it actually physically hurts you to hear criticism about it, and you can't handle it at all, what a fucking mess you are.

Oh no someone is saying something bad about Top Gear, where is my knife to cut into my wrists as I can't bear it anymore...

If I loved it so much, you would think I would have applied for tickets to see the show getting recorded? Not at all, sure I enjoy watching it on the telly for a bit of a laugh on a Sunday night before returning to the working week, but for loving it so much that it physically hurts me if someone says that Top Gear is a waste of taxpayers money and is completely shit, you've completely missed me.

Such a few years ago you could have called me a fan-boy as I subscripted to the magazine, subscripted to the email newsletter and was on the website reading the various stuff on there, but now I only get the magazine if there is a free gift.

Jesus christ, you fucking answered that so completely and ignored the point about "If you don't like it, don't watch it". Where's the answer to that? I don't actually give a shit about your last post, I was wondering what the logic is behind the attitude of not being able to accept criticism.

It's just fucking stupid, you're saying that if people have a negative opinion of something they should erase it and never go back to that something. THATS what I wanted an answer for.

Life is too short to complain about TV shows they don't like, nobody is going to tie you down to a chair and physically force you to watch it now, god knows how many TV channels are out there now, so instead of sitting down a program which has gone downhill in recent years to cater for the masses turn the tv over to a program which you will enjoy spending 30/60 minutes of your life watching.

Or even read a book, every tv program has it's haters as well as fans, but mainly those haters will stay quiet and not bring it up in conversation

People are allowed to have opinions, I have liked Top Gear in the past and decided to watch it, and I have a negative opinion of the episode I watched. It's the exact same as me saying to you "If you don't like my opinion, don't read it". How the fuck can you predict if you're going to like something or not?

I've seen you say that stupid "If you don't like it then don't acknowledge it's existence" argument so many times, and it makes no fucking sense, so please go through it. Have you ever went to see a film, and didn't like it, and (OHMYGOD) felt compelled to tell others you didn't like it? Is that a sin? What the hell is wrong with you?

I don't see anything wrong with what David said about if you don't like it then don't watch it. There's nothing to get annoyed about that. What's the sensitivity all about? I don't really watch The Simpsons from the past decade + because it's not what it was but I don't bother ranting about it's decline in quality. I very much enjoy Top Gear but only for entertainment purposes and not really to be informed about cars. Clearly a lot of it's scripted but it's nothing of any harm. Besides I think the cinematography on that show is beautiful. On it's day it is tv made to the pinnacle of quality and the BBC should be proud of it as I'm sure they are.

And you're insecure if you are afraid of objectivity? Well that is a new one.

New series of Top Gear starts tonight on BBC 2 at 8pm!

If he didn't like my opinion he shouldn't have read it, or responded to it, that's the exact same principle. If you disagree with me then don't respond to me, OK? You shouldn't have written anything there.

Of course I'm not being serious but isn't that frustrating to be told you aren't allowed to have an opinion? It's such a lazy response as well as a really cowardly attitude to objectivity, and I've always despised it. Congratulations on not complaining about the Simpsons, but for just a few examples you have gone out of your way to make your dislike of Barca clear, or actually going into Radiohead threads to remind us how you're above that music, or going into troll-ish Coldplay topics to tell people they have no lives, I would have thought you'd be one of the last people who could stick by this rule of avoiding topics you don't like. And I'm really not intending to get personal with you but I am simply pointing out that we all complain about things, to be told "If you don't like it, forget it exists" is just fucking ridiculous.

You've never linked insecurity with being unable to deal with criticism? It's probably inclusive with any kind of personality disorder for a start. I'll explain, if you are secure about something then you aren't afraid of negative opinions on it, you are ready to face those as you are confident in yourself/whatever it is you like. If you're insecure about it/yourself you know there are valid reasons for it to be seen negatively, as a result you would tend to say things basically like "If you don't like it, please go fuck off and forget you ever knew about it". It's desperate and pathetic, like sticking your fingers in your ears and going LAALAALAA because you can't face the truth.

The oddest thing about this is, I did exactly what he told me really, as I mentioned originally I could only watch half the episode before getting so bored, so I didn't like it- and I turned it off. But really I have every right to watch the thing even if I don't like it, hell Top Gears on shortly and if nothing else is on, I'll be watching it, and if I feel like coming in here and whining about it, then I will. If you don't like it, and Dave, if you don't, you now know to ignore my next post, and any other posts I make in this thread, ignorance is bliss eh?

Most of all why I'm 'sensitive' about it, is because it de-rails possible actual debates, like now we're here discussing this stupid fucking thing that shouldn't have been brought up in the first place. We could have discussed Top Gear further, agree on some things and disagree on others, because my view on Top Gear is an opinion, but Dave's view of "DONT WATCH IT THEN" because he's defensive about something he loves so much, that being weak and pathetic is a fact.

Tonights Top Gear, what a load of rubbish after the news bit.

Turned into one massive promotion for the Sweeney movie cut with promotion for another movie by some Canadian actor, I got bored and ended up playing a game on my DS.

Unbelievable!-

You probably shouldn't have watched it then.

Makes sense doesn't it?

Yeah, it was very poor tonight. The feature on China last week was really interesting but this week was just a waste of time. The car chase film in the most boring setting imaginable for what would seem like the most boring film imaginable should not have taken up near to half an hour of the programme. You can always expect great cinematography on Top Gear, filming in the most fantastic locations but this series the standard has been so poor.

I watched the first episode where they were in Italy, it was ok, there was some good bits.

Didn't watch last weeks episode and I didn't watch tonights but it doesn't sound like I've missed much :\

Sounds like it's another actor as the "celebrity" tonight.

Has Top Gear suddenly jumped onto the promotional roster for actors/actresses to promote their new movies (along with all the various other chat-shows and daytime TV stuff)?

I'm pretty sure it started last year when simon pegg was on promoting his film and cameron diaz promoting hers, it's annoying because it seems to take up half the show.

The celebrities on it have been piss poor this series.

  • 11 months later...

I just hope they have pulled their socks up and will bring a decent series this time around.

Although I doubt it :(

Probably will be another 6/7 episodes of mega-expensive super/hypercar testing, stupid stunts & more celebrities promoting their latest films.

Every series has it's time. And TopGear has probably had theirs. It's clinging on by it's fingernails supported by the mysogynistic BBC and the fact there's not a right lot else to go on the Sunday night schedule.

Still. I'll end up watching it on the iPlayer this week no doubt.

The problem the BBC has with Top Gear is that it's one of the few shows which actually makes them money.

And they won't be stupid to shot a cash-cow and replace it with "are you smarter than a celebrity".

Indeed that's true. People moan about Clarkson etal's salaries. But don't realise the shher amount of money syndication of the BBC version to 90+ countries makes, as well as the licensing of the 'idea' to countries such as the usa & australia.

Without this & unfortunately bloody eastenders the bbc wouldn't be able to afford 4tv & 6+ radio stations.

They've even managed to ditch Jonathan Woss. So not all bad!

If you don't like it, then don't watch it.

Fucking idiot.
