1. It is a "happy Bruce." He stopped before and after the show to meet the fans and sign autographs, which is practically unheard of.

2. The show was awesome, despite the fact that I think Bruce was slightly under the weather. He opened with Badlands and played most of the songs you would expect (except no Atlantic City or Dancing in the Dark). It's hard to believe a man pushing 60 still goes for 3 hours every night he plays. The night before he played "Ghost of Tom Joad" with Tom Morello, and the night I went he played "Bad Luck" with Mike Ness from Social Distortion.

Bruce is one of my absolute favorites. He makes a stadium gig feel like you are at a small pub with an amazing house band that rocks the place all night. There's no one like him.

^That is so awesome. So you went to the LA show where he brought a young kid onstage to sing a verse of "Growin Up" ?

Yeah, they played "Growin Up."

I'm hoping Bruce doesn't clash with anybody else I want to see at glasto.

If someone clashes with Bruce, and you decide to go see them instead, make sure it is someone you will be able to tell your kids you once saw...because that is what you are passing up if you pass on Bruce.

Holy shit it's tomorrow!!!

Wish I could go to tonight's show too.

So true man

Have fun and report back :)

Thanks. If I get any good pix I'll post 'em too.

Off to the promised land!

Holy shit what a show! :stunned:

Too many cool things to mention but one thing that really blew me away was when he did a cover of "London Calling". Are you kidding me? Unreal. That band can pretty much play any song, I mean literally any. song.

He pretty much pulled out all the stops. Almost a three hour show with loads of anecdotes, preacher-style deliveries, cover songs, requests, crowd favorites, and patriotic anthems.

He talked about his love of the older venues like the Spectrum because they don't have the VIP boxes and such. Interesting sidenote, the Spectrum is the very first arena he ever performed in, back in '76. And soon it will be nothing but dust. It is rather intimate for an arena, not really a bad seat in the whole joint. But the concourses are extremely narrow. Like wtf were they thinking when they built that place. But it def is a "house of rock" as Bruce called it. I myself have been to about 20-25 shows there. It will be sad to see it go.

Anyway I'm rambling. I thought the setlist was phenomenal, although some of my personal favs he did the first night (Rosie, Out in the Street, Wrestler). But we got Thunder Road, Spirits in the Night, Hungry Heart, Streets of Philadelphia, and the closer, Kitty's Back. I think I scared a few people in our section with my fist-pumping on that one, haha.

So it looks like I might hit the Hershey, PA show in two weeks. Yes, where they make the chocolate. And some band Coldplay is gonna be there two weeks after that. ;)

Oh shoot! Nice review. I forgot to respond because the thread was no longer on the first page. A little late, but glad you had a good time.

Do your best to attend. Not only is he a living legend, but he is one of the all time great live performers. A must see in my opinion.

Hey guys, had to bump this thread up. I'm new to the Coldplay message board but I've been on BTX for a while now (Bruce message board). I like doing a quick search of Springsteen when I join a new board to see what their opinion of him is. I have seen the Boss 7 times already in concert (I'm 18 years old) and have 4 more shows planned on the next leg of the tour including two in Madison Square Garden. He is the best there is. I have been listening to Coldplay a lot lately and am going to my first concert in Raleigh this Thursday. They are amazing and I can't wait to see them live. I've been spoiled by Bruce's 3 hour long passion filled sets, but he endorses Coldplay and I know Chris has talked a lot about how brilliant Bruce is in some interviews recently. They seem to have a mutual respect. But if you are able to go see him, GO!!

I love Bruce, too. But we are in the vast majority around here. It's mostly a younger crowd (even though I see you are 18) and most people don't listen to much Bruce. He does put on an amazing concert.

This thread has been in existence for nearly seven years and this is it? Five pages? Unacceptable! :inquisitive:

I've been meaning to post this since, well, since the concert, back in October '09. "Born To Run" from the 2nd row of the pit, which was the most well behaved pit ever. Matter of fact, the way the pit works for Bruce is like no other, at least compared to what I've come across. There is a whole process to get into the pit to see The Boss. I'll have to find the "instructions" on Backstreets.com and post it.

Anyway, here it is:

I gotta bump brother Bruce's thread every now and then. Been listening to a lot of Darkness on the Edge of Town recently. How can you not like that album?

Anyone seen the "London Calling" DVD from last year's Hyde Park concert?

We have it at work, it's great!

You Springsteen people should give The Gaslight Anthem a listen, our new favorite Springsteen deciples.

Oooooo...that's what I heard! I want to get that so bad. I've seen Springsteen 3X, and it's always a spiritual experience. I love him.

It's funny, I've heard that bit of advice before. I will have to give them a try.
