alyssa
Ha! She sooooooooooooooooo still wants him. Gwyn is a strong lady. Lifelike
Aw. :( I think it's genuine modesty.... I have no way to tell, but apparently I do the same exact thing... heh. I think it's genuine too, because I do it with my writing. "It's awful omg! I hate it! D:" But people enjoy it. And people have said above me that he doesn't print his lyrics, which is true. (I read that Rolling Stone article. About eight trillion times :laugh3:) He compares himself to others a bit too much. It's sad because he's so amazing. f'real. kekita
I think lots of us are skeptical it hard to believe that this sort of character, exists so when you see it one immediatly mistrusts. (also i'm not saying his perfect i don't know him he may be a knob but as long as he writes good music i don't really mind) Lifelike: I think it's genuine too, because I do it with my writing. ^ i know what you mean in highschool used to get A+ for Art and Graphic Design. alot of the stuff i thought was horribly written and didn't deserve the mark and i admit i did things lazily and yet thos A+ kept coming-- it wasn't a challenge and i began to not try but still got same result lol ( i was livid but not silly to ask for a downgrade ha ha)
alyssa
Heh. This is what happens when you hate your work... You set your expectations low, because... seriously... you don't think you can do much, really. People tell you you're great, and you're like "wtf?!" People tell you you freaking rock, but you're still not convinced. You look at other's people's work and think "wow, my stuff is crap compared to theirs..." People try to convince you that your work is cool, but nope... You continue to bash yourself, and everyone starts to get a bit mad. People start bashing you for bashing yourself. Self-esteem is lowered from self-bashing and outside bashing, like people saying "You're just saying that cuz you know you don't suck and you want a big pity party blah blah blah"... I can go on :laugh3:

I can go on :laugh3: Oh I know. I draw and write and on both counts I think I'm no good and my friends tell me I'm awesome. But at the same time I KNOW I don't suck... that I have some talent... but I'm just not very good at it. You know? It's a very weird mindset. Atenea_Brit
The Nelly's credits are touching! but, can somebody avoid to say these words to give thanks for a cute man like Chris? I think no. Well, I love his humbleness, and it seems true. So, if he were vain like Noel Gallagher I would hate him. I can understand his feeling 'cause at my class I'm the smart girl. All the people envy to you and you think "Ohh, all the things I do are a shit" The people does you feel that thing. I wish Chris being thus. And, do you like that somebody brags about his talent uopn you? Atenea_Brit
bta5857
A lot of people aren't confident in what they create. I think he's somewhat of a perfectionist and can never be completely happy with something. He's always being too hard on himself. I don't think he's trying to be "cute." He's just insecure, which is crazy because he's fucking brilliant. So basically Chris wrote all the lyrics to that song? That's awesome. It really sounds like something he would write too, because it has a nature-like awe-inspiring tone. It's a good song. Agree with you 100%. I guess if I didn't believe that Chris was genuine, I might find him annoying too. But, I don't think it's an act, and I love his music, even with all his quirky and insecure comments at times! gentleparachute
It's one thing to be humble, it's another to keep saying that you think all that you've ever done is sh*t. I mean I can understand that at some point in his song-writing/creative process, Chris does honestly feel that what he's done is sh*t. But IMO, I think it's impossible to go on doing something for as long as Chris has been doing and still think all the stuff you produce is crap... Where would that leave a person? Either very depressed / self-hating (coz you're producing only crap all the time) or trying very hard all the time. Chris does exhibit both of these, especially the latter. I do wish sometimes that he could appreciate himself more or at least not be so self-aware and over-analyse the significance / impact of everything he has ever done. It sure would boost his confidence and song-writing - witness all the non-CP stuff he's ever done. A lot of those sound more natural (and I would rate some of them better) than their album stuff. Contrivance (through over-analysis) does NOT work when your band's working for earnestness and honesty in the music. But in saying a person cannot go on thinking all his work is crap, I don't mean that Chris has been lying / is not genuine in his self-effacing. He's probably been misrepresented (though not necessarily intentionally) by the media. I do believe that at some point he does really think he's no good, but at the same time, a part of him does recognise later on that his work is worth something. Unfortunately the people who quote him tend to see his self-effacing moments and are not around when he's reconciled with his work. This in turn feeds the media machine that perpetuates the image that Chris "always thinks his creative output is sh*t". Out of this, comes the divide between the people who think he is genuine in his self-effacing, and those who think he's just milking the PR machine. I think we all could do with some readjusted perceptions on Chris.
