this WC is quite succesful imo, matches in KO round usually get around 40-50 votes what isn't too bad, though the qualifications and the beginning of the group stage was a bit hard and slow

a good thing about it that you experience new bands you didn't know about before...and stuff like that....

Question: How many people here actually listen to The Beatles or Pink Floyd?

 

I am almost certain that some people don't even listen to them but just vote for them because they are "legends".

 

I do listen to The Beatles on a regular basis! Pink Floyd not so much, but I do see your point. Some people might feel like they HAVE to vote for a certain band because everyone else considers them to be 'legends'.

actually this whole WC thing is about people's own music tastes and not how influential the artist is...

i have a fear many people vote for certain bands only because of their names

 

the main idea of this competition was that people could listen to the artists that they don't know and only after judge them...

i doubt it worked

Hmm..... maybe next year name them 'band 1' etc. and have a few songs/videos that people have to listen to/watch. So they can't vote via. names but have to vote via. song preference.

it's hard to compare these 2 bands and i'm not saying that Radiohead are a better band, but in this case i listen to more Radiohead than Beatles and i enjoy Radiohead by far more than Beatles. although, Beatles are one of my faves as well

 

Muse - U2

 

U2 easily.

 

U2's earlier stuff is truly amazing i have to say. War and Joshua Tree would be in my top 100 albums of all time probably. although, they haven't released nothing good, fresh and exciting since the end of 80s...that's bad

but i still prefer them to Muse which have released 4 studio albums and none of them excited me too much

these 2 bands are the 2 most important bands of the last 20 years. U2 dominated the 80s, Radiohead the 90s.

I joined this WC only on the 1/8 stage and I have a question about Coldplay. I mean, they were not in this World Cup, of course? Or did they lose already? :laugh1:

yeap, Beatles - U2 would be okay for me too (btw my personal dream final would be Radiohead - Sigur Ros, but it's already happened)

"Beatles love"? Well, the only way you can see if somebody likes The Beatles truly or not is to see what do these people post in the Beatles thread. But, to be honest, people never can discuss The Beatles. Everything's been said already, so you'll never know who's the real fan and who's not.

 

I can't say I'm such a Beatles fan, but I love them and not because they're such a brand and all. Just because I love old English music like Kinks, Animals etc.

 

And still I won't vote for them in 1/2. Just because Radiohead means much more for me right now.
