The "What did Materazzi say to Zidane" thread

Featured Replies

two things should be set straight

a. iriden ur being biased because he is italian

Where did I defend him? I just said that's nonsense talking about him being racist when no one knew what he said

b. in the heat of the match both players should restrain themselves, they both play for big clubs and in a world cup final they should conduct themselves as rolemodels. racist, crude comments and violence are not what should be instilled in little kids watching soccer all over the world

I bet you never said to someone "son of a ****" yes of course. There are many ways to react to someone insulting or provoking..Zidane chose the worst one

and i forgot a third...

c. none of this would have happened if not for fabio grosso diving and the referee giving a penalty in the dying seconds of the australia-italy match.

And you are biased because you are Australian

@flying sparks: I never said Italian players are perfect, I was just trying to make you realise that no one knew what he said, and of course you don't believe him, but that's your business.

I've always cursed Materazzi for the stupid things he'd been doing in Inter Milan and I will still do it in the future, but saying things like "son of a *****" it's normal during matches and any player in the world has said it at least once never meant it for real.

The thing is that emilien88, who's French is the one who should probably be more hungry, while he's been really fair ;)

I want to stop this thing cause it's really becoming childish especially between you and bonita, if you don't, go on but I will not be part of the play

i love how all the italians on here keep saying "it doesn't matter what materazzi said, zizou is still completely at fault" :dozey:

the instigator should be punished to the same extent.

materazzi is a dirty little bitch.

i want to remember you that words are not comparable with actions...zizou did wrong beacuse in any case he had to stay quiet and control his instinct...these are the conseguences, a red card, matrix said to him things that are not very nice, but he don't broke zizou's legs..so, matrix had a quieter personality in thet situation than zinedine..

@ iriden: I won't let you call me childish - I get ALL football discussions are childish because they're useless. I realised that a while ago but it seems like I just can't stop to talk about it anyway :P But I'm not childish, I'm pissed - of course you never said that Italians are perfect, but I'm sick of the fact that no Italian gives a fuck about what Mazeratti did.. I understand it someway, you probably just want to celebrate and don't think of HOW you won.. I'm not saying that it all depended on this one incident, but the fact that Mazeratti obviously knew EXACTLY what he was doing and he knew how to provoke the most important player of the opposite team, is just shady..

"I did insult him, it's true," Materazzi said in Tuesday's Gazzetta dello Sport. "But I categorically did not call him a terrorist. I'm not cultured and I don't even know what an Islamic terrorist is."

"I held his shirt for a few seconds only, then he turned round and spoke to me, sneering," the Italian defender told the newspaper. "He looked me up and down, arrogantly and said: 'If you really want my shirt, I'll give it to you afterwards."'

"It was one of those insults you're told tens of times and that always fly around the pitch," he said.

materazzi went out with the intent to piss of zidane and annoy him the whole game. the one who goes there with the intent, acts upon this intent, and constantly annoys the whole game with verbal comments is surely the one at fault? no?

Right. The choice to use those words is still an act of will. If words are intended to cause hurt, they DO speak as loud as actions.

It has just been announced that Zidane will reveal exactly what happened tonight at around 7 pm on a French TV station called Canal Plus.

Really?!:shocked2: But he says he never wants to repeat it! Has he changed his mind?

Then let's wait and see.

Well, his manager already announced yesterday that it's gonna happen, and now it's confirmed and set.

at 7pm? i doubt he'll say it live while families are watching. imagine little french kids asking their parents what 'whore' means. probably just the general gist of what materazzi said. but if he is gonna tell the true quote from materazzi at 7pm it can't be that bad then if censors will allow it...

he said is there any chance of a shag after d match lol
