I can't remember what station exactly I heard this on,but on tv the other day there was something about how Chris Martin admits that Parachutes was just an album with "terrible songs" on it. Did anyone else see/hear it? (it was a Canadian music show,to be more specific)

 

 

Do you agree? Disagree? In my opinion,it wasn't their most polished album, but it was far from "terrible" as he said...but I guess artists are allowed to be critical of their own work, right? ;D

It was pretty good last time I heard it. In fact I put it on repeat for 3 hours

I love the songs of Parachutes. :stunned:

It's like a breath of fresh air to listen to Parachutes after a long time listening to X&Y...not that I dont like X&Y, I love it, but it's nice listening to the beginnings of what is now one of the world's biggest bands...ya know, when things were simpler.

I've been listening to it the past few days. And it has been a total breath of fresh air. Got that spot on Steph! ;0)

Hmmm for me Parachutes is still the most classic coldplay album.Its the album that sounds most naturel to me . I hasn't all these backgrounds FX on it .

 

So I could not live without parachutes

Though i think AROBTTH is their best album.....Mr Martin shouldn't worry about Parachutes...it is great...

he better should think about X&Y.....otherwise the future will be rather X&Y like...and I don't want that...:uhoh:

yes, i think AROBTTH is still their best album i'd give it 9.2 out of 10

but i have to agree with samdevos that Parachutes is their most classic and most original album, though it's weaker than A Rush Of Blood, i'd give Parachutes 8.0

oh yeah AROBTTH definately the best album. I hardly ever get bored of it!

 

I really hope they go somewhere different with the next album......I see what you're saying about X&Y. I do really like the album tho. But don't think it has the timelessness of AROBTTH.

Personally I like the more upbeat stuff so Parachutes is my least fav album so far, which seems to go against the grain. Having said that though, there are some fucking brilliant songs on it. Yellow, Don't Panic and Shiver being the most obvious, but definately my favs. And I remember the first time I heard Trouble (before I was a Coldplay fanatic) I almost cried. So it's hardly a lousy album....tisk tisk Chris haha. Although I could do without Spies and Sparks.

And just remember, if they did every album like Parachutes, they would get boring and everyone would whinge about them not progressing. I love X&Y. AROBTTH is definately my favourite but X&Y comes in second. There are some songs that could be better like X&Y and What If but they're still freaking great songs. Then you have songs like Square One and White Shadows which are brilliant. But it will be hard to ever top AROBTTH.
