Where has Missy been? :(

Sorry I've been MIA! Here's part one of my experience meeting the guys, because I'm taking so long to write everything. Part two will be up later tonight.

So, after the gig, all my brother's friends wanted to head to a bar to get some food. My brother was so close to abandoning my quest to meet the band, but eventually I persuaded him to stay with me. I think he knew that I'd hold it against him for the rest of his life if he made me go with his friends instead. We had parked in a lot that was right around the corner from the tourbus, which was quite convenient. There was another frenger there named Peter who was waiting around hoping to meet the band, so we chatted while standing in the freezing cold.

Some moron had parked his car right behind the equipment trailer which effectively prevented the crew from loading all the stuff back in there, so we watched them deal with that for a while. They were gonna call a tow truck at first, and then they were just going to wait for the bus driver to come so they could pull forward a few feet, but in the end I think they simply pushed the car away with their combined brute strength. It would have been really unfortunate if they were delayed because of it - Vancouver to Portland isn't a short drive by any means. Kasper was walking back and forth, and he smiled at me. :D I think he must have recognized me from the previous night in Seattle.

Around the time the crew managed to get the car out of the way, I saw Nick walking toward the bus. We kind of just stared as he walked up the street, and then I finally mustered the courage to say "Hi Dr. Nick!". He immediately smiled and just...burst into conversation. He was super talkative and is literally the friendliest person I've ever met. And I didn't make it awkward like last time - I actually had coherent, nice conversation with him! It was amazing! He made us all feel so comfortable. We told him we were at the Seattle gig the night before, and we talked about the difference between the two shows (Seattle was more enjoyable for all of us, but Vancouver had better sound). I told him all about my crazy two days, driving home from Seattle at 4 am, driving to the ferries at 5:45 am, writing my final exam on the island, then taking the ferry back to Vancouver and driving downtown). He asked me how my exam went, and I told him I think I did alright. He was all "Yeeaaahh you did, I can tell, you look like (something I can't remember)" - basically something to the effect of me seeming intelligent I guess, hahaha. He was so awesome! I thanked him for playing us an extra song in Seattle, and also told him I loved his acting in the last video diary, and his roaming the desert in the doctor's coat. I asked him how they made that one, and he said Jonas basically comes up with the script, and then convinces the doctor to do pretty much whatever he wants him to. We also talked about the website for Effervescent Seahorses, and he called Jonas a "clever sausage" for being able to make all that stuff. Sooo British, hahaha. He took pictures with my brother and I, and was telling us that apparently you get the best photos by saying "Douche" instead of "Cheese". So, I took the picture saying "1-2-3, DOOUUUUUCHHHE!" The way Nick was saying "Dooouuuuuche" was absolutely hilarious. Anyway, he told us the guys were still inside the venue and would be coming out eventually, so we should definitely stick around and wait for them. Then he went off to grab a few more beers before they hit the road.

This encounter lifted our moods considerably, so even though it was only getting colder and colder, we were all the more determined to stay. A while later, Silas came around the corner holding a bunch of stuff, and we got to talk to him for a short while. Again, we talked about the gig tonight and Seattle, and told him he did an incredible job. He was actually quite talkative, and wasn't nearly as shy as you'd expect! Although sometimes I couldn't completely understand what he was saying :) And of course, he was really, really sweet, gracious, and humble. He told us they were pretty tired tonight, and that he's looking forward to getting a good rest at home so they can really "pound it out" in the shows lined up for 2010. I asked him whether they were going to come back to North America next year, and he wasn't sure - they haven't got too many things set in stone yet besides the gigs in Scandinavia and Japan, it seems. He signed all my album booklets and took pictures with us (he had to put his things away in the bus first), and I thanked him profusely and told him to get a good rest and to have a great Christmas in Denmark.
