Teenage soap The OC is cancelled

Sorry if there is already a OC topic, but due to the problem that you can't search for items with less than 3 characters it's a bugger.

Teenage soap The OC is cancelled

Teenage drama The OC, which starred starring Mischa Barton has been pulled by US television network Fox, after ratings slumped to an all-time low.

The first season began in 2003 and drew in audiences of nearly 10 million.

The shows popularity began a steady decline though, and in November ratings dropped to just 4 million.

Series creator Josh Schwartz said the finale "will deliver real closure to the series". The final episode is due to be aired in the UK in February.

Boost ratings

"It will be fun and emotional and, I think, really satisfying. It is the finale we always planned to do," Schwartz added.

In the past show bosses had tried to boost ratings by introducing high drama to the series, set in Orange County, California.

In the third season Marissa Cooper (Barton) was killed in a car crash, but this was not enough to entice viewers back.

Audience figures failed to increase too during the last season when Ryan (Benjamin McKenzie) confronted the death of his one-time girlfriend and the man who caused it.

Fox ordered 16 episodes for the 2006-07 season and all will have aired when the series concludes in February.

Despite the short-lived popularity of the show, the actors who played the four main characters, Ryan (McKenzie), Seth (Adam Brody) Marissa (Barton) and Summer (Rachel Bilson) have all become regulars in newspaper and magazine gossip columns.

Just thought you would like to know

Well, it was just a matter of time.. And I think it's better that way! Way too many TV series are destroyed because of too many seasons and stories getting worse and worse, so.. it's better to quit now than just push it on and on..

It's called "Jumping the Shark", which gives me an idea for a topic

it's a tragedy

This is God's way of proving justice will prevail.

IMHO

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

They always doe this to my favourite shows. Fucking arseholes. Well I'm used to having favourite tv series that actualyl aren't on tv. Grrr.

yes. thank god its over. no more people liking snow patrol and other bands just because one song was played on the OC, and a little bit of my little sister's obsession with "good" shows good= popular is over.

^^that annoys me. How if people only like a band because there big hit was played on a show like The OC...or Laguna Beach while we are at it.

IMO, Laguna Beach is the worst. God, their whining. I wanna slap them in the face.

This is God's way of proving justice will prevail.

Oh yes, way to go.

And finally this happens!

I've been waiting for this since the beginning of the second season..

They played Coldplay on Laguna Beach. I was flipping through channels and I heard it. I wanted to cry- Of all shows, why on this one!?

Anyway, I'm not glad that this is over. I'm going to have to hear about it at school. "Oh my God! Oh my God! It's over! Noo. It was such a good show! blah blah BLAH." >.<

^^I know...those stupid preps who like it at my school..>.<

They make me sick.

They played Coldplay on LAGUNA BEACH? OMG I'm soooo sorry they had to be played on such a piece of shit. What song by the way?

The only time I watched the OC was when Fix You was featured/ premiered on it. And that was before X&Y came out. It was AWFUL. Didn't know when it was going to be played during the episode, but OF COURSE it was at the very end. I just closed my eyes when it started playing.

Either Fix You or Yellow.

meh. >.<

I really do feel sorry for Coldplay. There music is now used for dramas like that. A song like that has so much emotion and feeling....and it's used for a stupid show about rich Cali kids.

YES!!!! It's finally over! oh what a glorious day!

he he i actually got addicted to this watching it on DVD. i hated Marisa, the actor who was playing her and the character (what a spoilt brat!!), really ryan deserves better.

i will miss the funny and good looking seth character though.

FINALLY! Although I admit I have watched just a few episodes... :embarassed:

my friend is so addicted... she cant stop telling me about what's going on with the OC, thank god it's end

yes. thank god its over. no more people liking snow patrol and other bands just because one song was played on the OC' date=' and a little bit of my little sister's obsession with "good" shows good= popular is over.[/quote']

They played Coldplay on LAGUNA BEACH?

What's the point in omg-ing about this? They play Coldplay on EVERY freaking soap and all the other channels, like they're so indie...

Alright, but I DID have mixed feelings when they played Interpol's Specialist on the O.C because that was such a song for fans. It was only on their Live E.P. and suddenly everyone knew it. Actually the people I know who watch the O.C. either already got a good sense in music or after watching this they still listen to shit, so it's not sooo important. Plus, I thought it was funny always checking out Seth' poster on the wall or their discussion about 'punk' and Death Cab for Cutie, and the Rooney episode was so hilarious :laugh3: . I mean, it's done in such a fake way and I still think tas funny. I mean, I really shouldn't care if someone now thinks I'm emo because I like Bright Eyes and just because that someone watched too much O.C.

she cant stop telling me about what's going on with the OC, thank god it's end
Yeah I told my friend so much about it until she went and watched it with me. Actually we used to always make fun of it and I used to hate Marisa and Ryan sooooo much, then I started really liking it and a few months ago someone lend me the first season on DVD so I watched all the episodes (in french... so I had the feeling of doing something productive as well, erm ). It really IS addicting. And stupid, and full of good music and drama, what do you want more?

ég-elska-Thom who are those people in your siggy?

I told my older sister about The OC ending (she's a fan) and she was like "You're lying" but eventually realised it was true... I used to watch it and stuff but I wasn't a fan and I don't really care that its over - just another show that can't go on.
