The Decline Of British Sea Power

Year: 2003

Review: http://www.coldplaying.com/forum/showthread.php?t=35965

B000095SLL.01._SCLZZZZZZZ_AA240_.jpg

1. "Men Together Today" (BSP) – 0:41

2. "Apologies to Insect Life" (BSP) – 2:47

3. "Favours in the Beetroot Fields" (Yan/BSP) – 1:16

4. "Something Wicked" (Hamilton/BSP) – 3:12

5. "Remember Me" (Yan/BSP) – 3:10

6. "Fear of Drowning" (Yan/BSP) – 4:26

7. "The Lonely" (Yan/BSP) – 5:12

8. "Carrion" (BSP) – 4:06

9. "Blackout" (Hamilton/BSP) – 3:48

10. "Lately" (Yan/BSP) – 13:58

11. "A Wooden Horse" (Yan/BSP) – 4:37

This is an album of stadium sized melodies and exquisite songwriting' date=' allied with almost too many ideas. [/quote']

We hear a lot of different sounds' date=' but are never left in any doubt that they flow together with such fire and skill that you feel they could knock out a freeform jazz number and still sound like the same band.[/quote']

With an unlikely rock blend of classicism and narrative' date=' British Sea Power has composed a brilliant album that's nearly perfect. It's not exactly pop, but it might as well be.[/quote']

British Sea Power have the talent and vision to be a truly inspirational new guitar band.

BSP are in a league of their own -- a young band with an arsenal of ideas' date=' the brains to pull them off and the guts to let them loose into the world.[/quote']

Open Season

Year: 2005

B0007Y0978.01._SCLZZZZZZZ_AA240_.jpg

1. "It Ended on an Oily Stage" (BSP) – 4:23

2. "Be Gone" (Yan/BSP) – 2:52

3. "How Will I Ever Find My Way Home?" (Hamilton/BSP) – 3:11

4. "Like a Honeycomb" (Yan/BSP) – 4:31

5. "Please Stand Up" (Yan/BSP) – 3:07

6. "North Hanging Rock" (Yan/BSP) – 4:26

7. "To Get to Sleep" (BSP) – 3:16

8. "Victorian Ice" (Yan/BSP) – 3:26

9. "Oh Larsen B" (Yan/BSP) – 5:30

10. "The Land Beyond" (Hamilton/BSP) – 4:01

11. "True Adventures" (Hamilton/BSP) – 7:52

British Sea Power are not only the best band around' date=' they’re also the best songwriters. [/quote']

By adding textures' date=' piano, acoustic guitars, and restraint, and losing some of the scowling and savagery, BSP have unleashed a truly unique pop creation, one with depth and feeling.[/quote']

Less chaotic and parochial' date=' more serene and accessible, but no less magical.[/quote']

By maintaining their singular aesthetic while venturing into more inviting pop sounds' date=' the weirdest band from Brighton just might have become the smartest.[/quote']

Another superb album.

I've heard of them. Havn't listened to them really, should do...but someone I worked with was a big follower of them. He went to a gig somewhere in the West country...cant remember what town, and the band requested people to go with them to collect trees and branches etc to decorate the venue with

British Sea Power are a lot better than Arcade Fire.

I'll make my own mind up about BSP shortly after I've got the tracks. Never heard anything from them yet so I have an open mind :)

you gave me the link Nik and i have listened to them a bit but they didn't left any impression on me. guess i'll need to listen to it a bit more.
