Antivirus Software You Are Using

Anti-malware Software You Are Using

do you think it is necessary for everyone who has a computer to have one antivirus software installed and running? why?

if yes, do you scan your computer regularly?

are you using antivirus software only on-demand (manual scanning) or do you set it to run in real-time?

what antivirus software are you using?

Well I think running an antivirus software is just an added security. The best measure to prevent viruses and malware from wreaking havoc in your system is by using your brains. Do not just run any executable from suspicious sources. Stay away from "warez". before installing an application, it is best to research about it/read user reviews about it.

i use nod32 because it is very light on resources, that i can run it in real-time, just in case.

i use panda, is that included in any of the ones you listed? i'm not really good with computers...this antivirus is not that good because i'm almost sure that my computer has been infected!

it's awful that you have to beware of every download you do! what's the point in putting viruses in people's computers? i don't get it why some people do that on purpose!!!

I forgot to include Panda :)

some people are just evil.

All the free versions of Anti Virus are actually a virus themselves,i have had heaps of trouble with them over the years.

yes, there are some malware/rogue antivirus programs out there. it's up to the user to research about the programs they intend to use ;)

Indeed,I still have a useless copy of AVG that i can not uninstall..

How's that? Maybe you need to reinstall it then uninstall it properly using control panel>add remove programs

I have Kaspersky. It makes a good job.

Seems like a good choice as well...from what I've read.

Kaspersky too :)

Nope..tried everything under the sun!

nod32! it's the best, well as far as my limited experience is with anti-virus systems lol

i use norton, its ok

i used to clear virus with norton but my friend said that norton has heavy memory, well i prefer AVG.. and when that moment i got the special edition.. and the memory maybe is about 11 MB! :D

Norton tries to take over the computer, is so god damn annoying to get rid of completely, uses up a lot of system resources and actually doesn't do a good job at keeping out viruses.

My Norton subscription's almost over in a month and I don't think I'll subscribe again. I keep hearing negative comments about norton, plus it's quite pricey. So what should I go for? AVG? Most people here seem to be using AVG.

So AVG users, have you ever been badly infected with any viruses?

Nope, AVG does a good job at stopping viruses and other nasties

I use Kaspersky, it does a good job. I hate Norton cuz it's freaking slow & BTW no matter how careful we use the internet viruses will always attack our computers so the best way is using an anti-virus software & scanning ur PC on regular basis

BTW, has any one got attacked by the "clicker" virus?

It's such a pain in the ass :veryangry: , thank god I got rid of it!!

Thanks everyone for the info shared on this thread. I now have AVG free and it got rid of a trojan horse straight away. lovely.:)

One good way to get rid of most of the viruses which come via the internet is to set up a main email account with say Yahoo, and use that address when your on the internet for stuff. In addition have a gmail account for your personal account and setup gmail so that it collects email from the yahoo account.

Gmail scans everything when it collects, and anything dodgy looking it doesn't collect and leaves you a message along the lines of:

"The message "Statement of fees 2008/09" from Bianca Gregg ([email protected]) contained a virus or a suspicious attachment. It was therefore not fetched from your account [email protected] and has been left on the server.

If you wish to write to Bianca, just click reply and send Bianca a message.

Thank you,

The Google Mail Team"

It's not fool-proof, but it stops you opening a dodgy attachment ;)
